Der Klimawandel sind ein grenzüberschreitendes Thema in der dänisch-norddeutschen Region. Wir haben ähnliche topografische und klimatische Herausforderungen sowie eine starke, aber stagnierende Position im Bereich Wasserver- und -entsorgung. Zu diesen gemeinsamen Merkmalen gehört sowohl das Potenzial zur Stärkung der grenzüberschreitenden Wirtschaft durch Innovation als auch durch Zusammenarbeit die Widerstandsfähigkeit der Region gegenüber klimabedingten Risiken wie Wolkenbrüche, steigende Temperaturen und Stürme zu erhöhen. Unter anderem mit der Überlastung der Siele im Falle eines Wolkenbruchs, dem Risiko sinkender Wasserqualität aufgrund steigenden Grundwassers sowie Herausforderungen beim Küstenschutz sind zunehmend Herausforderungen verbunden. Eine interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit in Sachen Wassermanagement und im Bereich der grenzüberschreitenden Maßnahmen zur Klimaanpassung ist erforderlich, um das Potenzial für signifikante Entwicklungen und Exportmöglichkeiten auszuschöpfen. Z.B. hat Deutschland langjährige Erfahrung in der Wiederverwendung von Regenwasser und im Bereich Küstenschutz, während Dänemark große Erfolge bei der Implementierung multifunktionaler Lösungen zur Klimaanpassung erzielt. Die neue innovative und der Hauptziel des NEPTUN-Projekts ist es, das Innovations- und Wachstumspotenzial im Bereich Wasserver- und -entsorgung und Klimaanpassung, freizusetzen, indem Angebot und Nachfrage über die deutsch-dänische Grenze hinweg zusammengeführt und die Robustheit der Programmregion gegenüber klimabedingten Risiken gestärkt wird. Das wesentlichste Ergebnis ist eine Kombination aus Beziehungsaufbau und Innovationskooperationen zwischen Universitäten und Wassertechnologieunternehmen im Bereich Wasserver- und -entsorgungs- und Klimaanpassungstechnologien. Konkret resultieren daraus 8 neue Prototyp der öko-innovative Produkte – unter Berücksichtigung der aktuellen Herausforderungen der Problembetroffenen (Kommunen und Ver- und -entsorgungsunternehmen). Die langfristigen Auswirkungen des Projekts sind eine deutliche Steigerung der Anzahl neuer umweltfreundlicher Wassertechnologielösungen, Geschäftsmodelle und eine bessere Präsenz/stärkere Außendarstellung der innovativen Technologieunternehmen der Programmregion, die energie- und ressourceneffiziente Lösungen anbieten. Das betrifft nicht zuletzt die KMU. Das Projekt zielt auch darauf ab, einen "Leuchtturm der Kompetenzen" für Wasserver- und -entsorgungs- und Klimaanpassungslösungen zu schaffen.

Klimaforandringerne er en grænseoverskridende problematik i den Dansk-Nordtyske region. Vi har lignende topografi og klimatiske forhold, samt en stærk, men stagnerende, position indenfor vandsektoren. Det giver potentiale for innovation og styrkelse af erhvervslivet på tværs af landegrænsen og at øge regionens robusthed mod klimarelaterede risici - som skybrud, stigende temperaturer og storme. Der ses blandt andet stigende udfordringer med overbelastning af kloakker ved skybrud, risiko for faldende vandkvalitet ved stigende grundvand samt udfordringer med kystsikring. Oparbejdelse af tværfagligt samarbejde indenfor vandhåndtering og klimatilpasning på tværs af grænsen, er nødvendigt for at udnytte potentialet for betydelig udvikling og eksport. Tyskland har f.eks. stor erfaring med genanvendelse af regnvand og kystsikring, mens Danmark har stor succes med gennemførelse af multifunktionelle klimatilpasningsløsninger. Det nye innovative og projektet NEPTUNs fornemste mål er at udløse innovations- og vækstpotentialet indenfor vand-, spildevands- og klimatilpasningssektoren. Samtidigt ønsker projektet at bygge bro mellem udbud og efterspørgsel på tværs af den dansk-tyske grænse og via samarbejde styrke programregionens modstandsdygtighed over for klimarelaterede risici. Det væsentligste resultat er, en kombination af relationsopbygning og innovationssamarbejder mellem universiteter og virksomheder indenfor vand- og klimatilpasningsteknologier. Det udmønter sig i 8 nye prototyper på økoinnovative produkter – med baggrund i problemejeres (kommuner og forsyningers) aktuelle udfordringer. Projektets langsigtede effekt er en betydelig stigning i nye miljøvenlige vandteknologiløsninger, forretningsmodeller og øget synlighed af programregionens innovative teknologivirksomheder ( især SMV'er), der tilbyder energi- og ressourceeffektive løsninger - Projektet sigter desuden mod at etablere et ”Lighthouse of competence” indenfor vand- og klimatilpasningsløsninger.

Climate change is a cross-border problem in the Danish-North German region. We have similar topography and climatic conditions, as well as a strong, but stagnant, position in the water sector. It offers the potential for innovation and strengthening business across the border and to increase the region's resilience to climate-related risks - such as cloudbursts, rising temperatures and storms. Among other things, there are increasing challenges with overloading of sewers in the event of a cloudburst, the risk of falling water quality due to rising groundwaterlevel as well as challenges with coastal protection. To exploit the potential for significant development and export cross-disciplinary cooperation in water management and cross-border climate adaptation is necessary For example, Germany has. extensive experience in the reuse of rainwater and coastal protection, while Denmark has great success in implementing multifunctional climate adaptation solutions. The new innovative and main goal of the NEPTUN project is to unleash the innovation- and growth potential in the field of water, wastewater and climate adaptation. On the same time the project aims to bridge the supply and demand side across the Danish-German border and, through collaboration, strengthening the program region's resilience to climate-related risks. The main result is a combination of relationship building and innovation collaborations between universities and companies in water and climate adaptation technologies. It results in 8 new prototypes of eco-innovative products - based on the current challenges of problem owners (municipalities and utilities). The long-term impact of the project is a significant increase in new eco-friendly water technology solutions, business models and increased visibility of the program region's innovative technology companies (especially SMEs) offering energy and resource-efficient solutions. The project also aims to establish a “Lighthouse of competence” in water and climate adaptation solutions.

Achievements (EN):

Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and not beeing able to gather companies and problemowners physical in 2020, the biggest succes of the project in 2020, have been to mobilize 29 water related companies in 2 mathcmakingevents or contact after the mathmaking and create 5 innovations collaboration with the participation of 9 engaged private companies, 4 Water utilities and 4 universities. 4 economic partners. 4 economic partners CLEAN, SDU, CAU, AAU have contribute to new green solutions though mobilizing and facilitating consortiums of 5 innnovation collaborations in the end of 2020. The 5 innovations collaborations are: 1. Faulty connections: Developing a new technology to improve faulty connections in sewer systems. 2. Improvement of overflow awareness by linking technical solutions and communication tools. 3. Early warning system: Developing a solution to increased sewage system loads by heavy rainfalls - an early warning system – by linking meteorological and hydrological data. 4. Securing sufficient drinking water in an area with decreasing of groundwater level caused by climate change. 5. Carbon and P reuse: A new technology approach to extract phosphorus from sewage sludge and thereby contribute to a lower environmental impact compared to conventional methods Moreover it is a succes that the common D-DK challenges of problemowners now is identified and it has been possible to identified 6 common climateadaptation challenges across the border. Hence 2020 was very much a year of organizing the project, mapping and recruiting, It is too early to describe the accomplished effect. However 2021 will be with focus on external events such as climate adaption networkmeetings and seminars i wp4 and meet the buyer, idea proposals and exibitions in wp5 plus operation of the 5 new innovation collaborations in wp5 for achieving effects. In 2021 the focus ill also be on communicating the findings in the project and the NEPTUN offers to SME´s and problemowners. Moreover it is a succes, that 27 % of the KPI´s are accomplished after 25 % time used in project (9 month/36 month). At the end of april 2021 the result was 27 % of the KPI accomplished after 33 % of the time used (13 month/39 month). Finally it is succes, that the project now has an interesting webpage in Danish and German language and the project is now well organized with actionplan for 2021, KPI tracking, internal communication in PODIO, regular wp meetings, all wps are up and runnin and engagement from partners to share files on common platforms. Moreover it is a help for the project, that a steering commitee and an advisory board now have been set with terms of reference for each board and can help with ideas for strategic dissemination an outreach of the project. Finally the projectpartners roles and deliverables are now wellknown from all partners in the project.
