Description (EN):

The Synaqua project offers innovative bio-monitoring based on eco-genomics, serving the quality of regional aquatic ecosystems with a view to their preservation. The ecological quality of regional aquatic environments, a source of wealth for our region, is threatened by increasing urbanisation and industrial and agricultural development. In order to preserve these natural resources, the introduction of a high-frequency (spatial or temporal) environmental diagnosis based on biodiversity would allow for more targeted or rapid intervention actions. To meet these needs Synaqua will develop, validate and provide managers with a new tool based on state-of-the-art DNA analysis technologies, through the collaboration of internationally recognised scientists and biomonitoring professionals. This tool will promote more effective and relevant environmental management. Validated on rivers in the trans-border region, it will be used on Leman to obtain a fine mapping of the quality of its banks. The data will be used to support a consultation with environmental managers and communities around Leman to propose intervention actions. The lake and river approaches will be used to support awareness-raising actions and (i) to biomonitoring actors to develop scenarios for the biomonitoring of tomorrow, and ii) towards schools, actors of tomorrow.

Le projet SYNAQUA propose une bio-surveillance innovante basée sur l'éco-génomique, au service de la qualité des écosystèmes aquatiques régionaux en vue de leur préservation. La qualité écologique des milieux aquatiques régionaux, source de richesse pour notre région, est menacée par l’urbanisation croissante et le développement industriel et agricole. Pour préserver ces ressources naturelles, l'introduction d'un diagnostic environnemental à haute-fréquence (spatiale ou temporelle) basé sur la biodiversité permettrait des actions d’intervention plus ciblées ou rapides. Pour répondre à ces besoins SYNAQUA développera, validera et mettra à disposition des gestionnaires un nouvel outil basé sur les technologies de pointe de l’analyse ADN, grâce à la collaboration de scientifiques reconnus internationalement et de professionnels de la bio-surveillance. Cet outil favorisera une gestion environnementale plus efficace et pertinente. Validé sur des rivières de la région trasnfrontalière, il sera utilisé sur le Léman pour obtenir une cartographie fine de la qualité des ses rives. Les données serviront d'appui à une concertation avec les gestionnaires de l’environnement et les collectivités autour du Léman pour proposer des actions d’intervention. Les approches sur lac et rivières serviront d'appui à des actions de sensibilisation et i) vers les acteurs de la bio-surveillance pour élaborer des scénarios de la biosurveillance de demain, et ii) vers les scolaires, acteurs de demain.
