Eau et bois sont deux ressources naturelles majeures du territoire de coopération franco-suisse Interreg. Or la première commence à souffrir de l’activité humaine, qui entache sa qualité. Ainsi l’eau de consommation est aujourd’hui contaminée par divers micropolluants, notamment d’origine médicamenteuse. Comment l’épurer ? C’est ici qu’intervient l’industrie du bois locale, dont divers sous-produits pourraient être valorisés sous la forme de biochar, un composé de type charbon actif dont l’utilisation à des fins d’épuration des eaux est connue. Le projet SylvO a ainsi un double objectif : développer une solution innovante et performante de filtration des eaux tout en développant l’industrie forestière locale. Scientifiques, économistes, experts de l’eau et du bois vont ainsi collaborer pour que ces ressources restent une richesse du territoire et au-delà.

Water and wood are two major natural resources of the French-Swiss Interreg cooperation territory. But the first begins to suffer from human activity, which tains its quality. For example, drinking water is now contaminated by various micropollutants, particularly of drug origin. How to purify it? This is where the local wood industry intervenes, from which various by-products could be recovered in the form of biochar, an activated carbon-like compound known to be used for water purification purposes. The sylvo project thus has a twofold objective: develop an innovative and efficient solution for water filtration while developing the local forest industry. Scientists, economists, water and wood experts will work together to ensure that these resources remain a wealth of territory and beyond.
