The aim is to demonstrate the interest in rehabilitating the South Geneva rail link, in order to restore the continuity of the railway infrastructure between Geneva and Sion, which will allow the extension of the offer of the Geneva Express (the cross-border RER of Greater Geneva) in the second stage 2019. Since 2011, Swiss and French partners (AURA, CCPEVA and SIAC and SNCF, canton of Valais and Chablais Région) have carried out a preliminary study, which has helped to unite all bodies around the solution that best meets the expectations of the partners. With support and EU funding Interreg V, a new series of pre-operational studies was completed at the end of December 2017. The characteristics related to this reopening have been refined across all relevantareas to be carried out between 2018 and 2020, and will focus on a detailed analysis of the measures necessary for the reactivation of this line. L'objectif est de démontrer l'intérêt à réhabiliter la liaison ferroviaire sud lémanique, afin de rétablir entre Genève et Sion, la continuité des infrastructures ferroviaires, ce qui permettra d'étendre en seconde étape, une extension de l'offre du Léman Express (le RER transfrontalier du Grand Genève), dont la mise en service de la première étape est prévue à fin 2019. Depuis 2011, des partenaires suisses et français (AURA, CCPEVA et SIAC et la SNCF, canton du Valais et Chablais Région) ont réalisé une étude préliminaire. celle-ci a permis de fédérer toutes les instances autour de la solution qui répondait au mieux aux attentes des partenaires). Avec le soutien et des financements européens Interreg V, une nouvelle série d'études pré-opérationnelles s'est achevée à fin décembre 2017.Avec le soutien d'Interreg V, une série d'études s'est achevée à fin 2017. Les caractéristiques liées à cette réouverture ont été affinées sur tous les domaines concernésDes études seront menées entre 2018 et 2020,et porteront sur une analyse détaillée des mesures nécessaires pour la remise en service de cette ligne. Rappelons que cette ligne devra être mise en conformité avec les standards et exigences du XXIème siècle.Un volet d’études socio-économiques sera mené, pour appréhender l’impact de cette réouverture en fonction des emplacements des haltes identifiées et estimer les retombées socio-économiques pour le territoire qui sera ainsi à nouveau desservi par le rail.
