Description (EN):

Local authorities and emergency services are not sufficiently prepared to promptly react to crisis situations due to the lack of innovative technologies and adequate equipment. Project STREAM will enhance all stakeholders' competencies to promptly respond to the flood. STREAM objective is to improve monitoring and risks and to improve the management for prompt reaction in events of flood disasters by creating and developing flood risk maps, flood hazard maps and FRMP, as well as by developing EWS along with raising awareness of citizens. This action will result in increasing safety of the project area from natural and man-made disasters, which will reduce the adverse consequences on human health, environment, cultural heritage and economic aspects of the area associated with floods. Such improvement of the early warning system will reduce the risk of flood disasters and minimize loss.

Expected Results (EN):

STREAM will first and foremost result in improvement of citizens safety regarding flood hazard. All project results are clearly linked to all 5 strategic expected outputs as follows:R1.Improved knowledge related to floods-Generating/updating FRMP, flood cadastre and flood risk maps. STREAM consortium will enhance knowledge related to floods.R2.Enhanced capacities of urgent services is a direct result from education and equipment of urgent services as this action provides capacity of urgent services to react promptly and effectively, to enhance safety of all inhabitants in the project area.R3.Improved EWS and communication system is direct result of activities in WP4.developing innovative technologies solution to improve EWS and communication system in order to have better reaction of urgent services in case of flood disasters, to minimalize human, natural and economic losses related to flood events.R4.Improved inhabitant's awareness related to flood risks and flood hazard is direct result of activities carried out in WP Communication where STREAM project partners educate citizens to respond with appropriate reaction in cases of flood disasters, having in mind improvement of safety in project area. All project results will outcome from an implemented set of tools, action plans, strategies, which through pilot project and education will improve the capacities of flood risk management, contributing to the Programme result indicator-population benefiting from flood protection measures.

Expected Outputs (EN):

STREAM project partners will develop systems which will be available to use by citizens, in order to train citizens how to react in case of flood, it aims at increasing the capacity of inhabitants and other stakeholders in preventing and reacting during the flood events. By educating inhabitants and other relevant stakeholders trough WP communication, STREAM leads to improve monitoring of risks and increasing management capacity to promptly react to flood disasters, consequently, raising security of inhabitants in project area which is completely in line with STREAM overall objective.
