Description (EN):

PRONACUL emphasizes idea on promotion and preservation of natural and cultural heritage and support the development of transnational strategies for jointly promoting the ADRION area as a tourist destination. Partners and/or associated partners have heritage sights, protected by UNESCO or Natura 2000 or will become protected sights within PRONACUL's pilot areas. PRONACUL’s main overall objective is to achieve level of capacity for the stakeholders in the fields of improved management of natural and cultural heritage for sustainable tourism development in ADRION area. PRONACUL’s activities will make changes to the current situation by developing new tourist products, that will drive PRONACUL partners into position, where natural and cultural heritage will be perceived as new content. Changes will be made by increasing management for preservation of natural and cultural heritage for other purposes, which are appropriate for this period of time and estimated development. This will be achieved through development, application and promotion of a common methodology for management of natural and cultural heritage in Adrion area based on a participatory approach to stakeholders. Common methodology will be tested and later applied in 15 pilot areas, whose experiences will result in a joint proposal for identification of the Regional Route. Activity will be supported by the virtual chamber established for promotion of the common methodology and its transfer to other ADRION areas. The chamber will be a consulting body for tourism developers, where regions will exchange experiences and best practices in managing natural and cultural heritage. In order to improve policies for better management of natural and cultural heritage the common methodology will be disseminated to policy makers in a form of recommendations for concrete local, regional and national policy documents.

Achievements (EN):

Fruška Gora Tourism Strategy: The Fruška gora tourism strategy is very important for the development of the area, because it will enable synchronized development and management of natural and cultural assets in the area of the National Park Fruška Gora. The strategy provides insight into natural and cultural assets through their assessment and the proposal of their protection and manner of management in function of tourism development. It also gives recommendations for the future direction of action and the creation of local policies in the field of tourism, especially management of natural and cultural heritage. In its final chapter, it refers to an action plan that promotes a specific location, facilities and activities in the field of tourism.

Expected Results (EN): Level of capacity for the stakeholders in the fields of natural and cultural heritage protection and tourism to sustainably valorise natural and cultural heritage as a growth asset

Expected Outputs (EN):

PRONACUL’s main result with established common methodology for management of natural and cultural heritage in Adriatic – Ionian is based on a participatory approach involving relevant stakeholders and will contribute to increased level of capacity for the stakeholders in the fields of natural and cultural heritage protection and tourism to sustainably valorise natural and cultural heritage as a growth asset. Applying the methodology in pilot areas will result in achieving programme main result. Sustainable approach to the Adrion programme will be guaranteed through dissemination of results in virtual chamber as a permanent support service in Adriatic – Ionian area. Virtual chamber will operate on a basis of managing authority with its managing bodies. Based on specific working protocols, level of capacity for the stakeholders in the fields of natural and cultural heritage protection and tourism will be increased by dissemination of the results among virtual chamber members. These members will share pieces of information to the key stakeholders, relevant to policies of Adriatic - Ionian area development. PRONACUL will contribute to increased level of capacity for the stakeholders from natural and cultural tourism institutions, national, regional and local policy-making institutions, education institutions, NGOs, as well as in the last stage private and semi-private entities. These institutions will be able to use Virtual Chamber, playing a role of key authority, open for all. PRONACUL’s established common methodology for management of natural and cultural heritage will contribute to Adrion programme financial sustainability through dissemination of virtual chamber results.
