The name of the project we are proposing is Black Sea Archaeology, History and Culture Portal (ArHiCuP). The overall objective of the ARHICUP project is to promote the archaeological, historical and cultural tourism in the Black Sea region by presenting the rich treasures of its cultural heritage in a coherent way, using advanced web technologies. An Open Internet Portal will be created on a dedicated server, enabled to collect and represent digital data in different formats. The data will be provided by the Partners in the project as well as by museums, academic institutions, research groups, collectors and individuals. The Portal will contain: an integrated library system, a digital library for description and presentation of bibliographical, photo, audio, video data, an utility for presenting 3D models of archaeological objects as well as sites like buildings, monuments, excavations, a digital collection of old maps of the Black Sea region and a Web-GIS for georeferencing the presented objects. For this purpose, a 3D scanning and modeling equipment is envisaged. A joint team of the Partners will select and create 3D models of important historical and cultural objects and sites in the participating countries. Providing scientifically correct data about the historical monuments in the region in innovative and attractive form will contribute to the development of the cultural tourism. Within the framework of the Project, an exhibition of old maps of the Black Sea will be created and displayed in the three countries, thus promoting the project and the portal among the general public. At the end of the project period a scientific-practical conference devoted to the Black Sea archeology will be organized as a prerequisite for the development of the tourism business with the participation of representatives of science and business from the three countries. Project implementation will involve civil society through active participation of local NGOs and cultural institutions in project activities. The joint creation of a common web portal and shared digital content related to the cultural and historical heritage of the region will bring benefits to both project target groups by increasing mutual knowledge and understanding, as well as to project partners, by gaining practical experience in cross-border Cooperation of local authorities and cultural institutions.

Achievements (EN):

Artium Center in Nessebar is once again hosting a cartographic exhibition presenting the importance of the Black Sea for European development. The presence of the region on geographical maps from antiquity to the present day reflects the changes and trends in cartography and demonstrates the importance of the Black Sea coast to the continent over the centuries. The exhibition, which is presented within the sustainability period of the project BSB867 Black Sea Portal for Archaeology, History and Culture - ARHICUP, consists of 30 panels. They trace the idea of the Black Sea from the oldest chronologically preserved spatial images to the present day with explanatory texts and illustrated material. The maps on display are reproductions of originals. As a result of the project activities, a modern online portal for digitally accessible cultural heritage sites from the Black Sea region was built https://arhicup.net/bg/. It stores a rich documentary archive created through photogrammetric images, including interactively presented iconic exhibits from the partner museums, 3D archaeological sites, etc. The repository continues to expand. It is available to representatives of the tourism sector, as well as to experts from scientific circles and the general audience.

Expected Results (EN): R 1.1 Strength of cross-border business opportunities in the tourism and cultural sectors

Expected Outputs (EN):

- Creation of a framework for cross border cooperation in order to develop a joint tool for presenting the archaeological, historical and cultural heritage of the Black Sea region. - Building an information bridge between the academic community and the tourism business. - Preserving and promoting the monuments in their cultural landscape and natural environment through their integration into local plans for spatial development. - Creation of the conditions for the socioeconomic development of the region through cultural tourism. The basis of cultural tourism is the widespread dissemination of adequate information on cultural, historical and archeological sites located in the region, presented in an attractive manner. This is the mission of the designed Portal. The following are important for the accomplishment of this mission: 1. Creation of an electronic platform for attractive presentation of various data formats (bibliographic data, electronic text, digital photographs and video, 3D scanned objects, maps). This is referred to in POS. 1. 2. Filling out this platform with digital content (originally created within the project or made available for free already). This is referred to in POS. 2. These two elements are interconnected and will be accessible to tourist operators and other interested agents in the field of cultural tourism.
