Description (EN):

The overall objective of the project is to eliminate bottlenecks for efficient mobility of persons and goods across the Latvian – Russian border, to make the Latvian-Russian border crossing more efficient. The project will be implemented by SJSC "State Real Estate", Latvia, in partnership with Committee for economic development and investment policy of the Pskov region, Russia. It is planned to improve the basic control infrastructure for customs and border guards at BCP "Terehova", to organise experience exchange activities for the personnel of control services and implement information campain to raise awareness of inhabitants, tourists and vehicle drivers on border crossing issues.The main target groups are - persons crossing the Latvian -Russian border and the personnel of control institutions. The result will be increased throughput capacity and control efficiency to shorten the time for border crossing and safeguard national economics of both countries. The investments will be made in Latgale region, whereas educational and information activities will be implemented in 3 regions - Latgale (Terehova), Vidzeme (Vientuli) and Pskov.

Expected Results (EN): 581 982 persons crossed Latvia-Russian and Russian-Latvian border at BCP "Terehova" on average in 2015 and 2016 (average of latest 2 data years), it is believed that there will be 5% increase of baseline value or 611 081 persons (for incoming and outgoing flow taken together) by 2023.

Expected Outputs (EN): The throughput capacity of 1 border-crossing point is increased.
