CBSmallPorts project will develop energy efficiency and the level of small ports services in the whole Central Baltic area. The objective is to improve energy supply and use; energy to be used efficiently by the boaters and other small port users. Small ports are diversely located, but in CB area they have same issues to solve: short season, competition of people’s time and limited financial and skills resources for the port development. Various small ports have had a lot of activities and investments both on safety and resource efficiency services. However, currently a common platform for information and marketing to boaters is missing. CBSmallPorts will gather the relevant information, investments done in CB area, and all essential resources into one joint network in order to have all the services widely used and utilized for further marketing. Instead of various separate web apps, the project will formulate a common online platform “SmallPorts” combining the information both for boaters, other service users and small ports. Main theme is climate friendly leisure time in small ports having joint aspect: “We are stronger together”. Essential tasks will be defining the energy efficiency of ports, guidance for small port energy efficient investments, marketing strategy, and open online CBSmallPorts platform to combine the data found from different sources and applications. The project will execute investments supporting environmental approach, energy efficiency and green values in marketing. The activities: e.g. workshops, formulating material and utilization of social media, will be implemented in each of the CB area countries. Furthermore, the project activities will involve dissemination in some of the most appreciated fairs of boating in Finland, Sweden and Germany. Each programme country is represented in the project by small ports both as the target of activities, and as the final beneficiary of project outcomes.

Achievements (EN):

Energetic small ports in Central Baltic region paid attention to climate friendliness. The main aim of the project was to improve energy efficiency and climate friendly services in Central Baltic small ports. As a result of the project 13 small ports were improved. Investments on energy efficiency technologies, like solar panels and wind-power generators, and safety were made in following ports: Seili, Airisto Strand, Tervasaari, Sapokka, Keihässalmi Pyhtää in Finland; Bläse Kalkbruk, Klacksörarna in Sweden; Lennusadam, Lõunaranna, Roograhu, Kärdla, Orjaku and Sõru in Estonia. Another important objective of the project was to promote the network of Central Baltic small ports as a joint destination for maritime tourists. All small ports of CB area were presented and marketed using marketing material (destination map, sailing route book and videos made in the project) and by using the online platform of CBSmallPorts.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The project’s main results are Central Baltic small ports with improved energy efficiency and climate friendly services in a network of small ports in the whole CB area. The small ports network with the improved services operates though F2F meeting and in long term web-based platform CBSmallPorts, which combines and upgrades info from existing ICT tools versions. Small ports will be more cost efficient on operations: saving energy, new energy efficient investment and on jointly marketing the small ports to port visitors. Investments on energy efficiency are made in 15 small ports (which are ok with de minimis) in Finland: Seili; Airisto Strand, Tervasaari, Sapokka, Pyhtää; in Sweden: Bläse Kalkbruk, Klacksörarna and in Estonia: Dirhami, Lennusadam, Lõunaranna, Roograhu, Kalev JK, Kardla, Orjaku and Soru. In addition, there are 30 small ports participating only to the energy efficiency mapping such as small ports from CB PortMate: Rauma FI x 3, CB FamilyPorts (Nauvo, Taalintehdas), Lootholma; Åland: Sottunga, Kökar and other 5 small ports (from CBMASAPO, Smart Marina), Gävle x 3, Söderhamn x 2 and other 5 Swedish small ports (from other CB projects) and Latvian x 7 small ports. All small ports of CB area are presented and will be marketed using the future online platform of CBSmallPorts. The project will improve local and regional mobility though better services and joint marketing, and thus improve travel opportunities of local people (all CB areas), as well as attract more visitors to the region. CBSmallPorts enhances marketing efforts, attracts new visitors and make them aware of what the small ports offer, thus increasing prosperity and well-being of the region. Through cooperation with regional and local projects, we evolve and ensure that development efforts are coordinated and scalable to all small ports.
