Description (EN):

The aim of this project is to analyse the problem on a cross-border (transnational) scale in the Greater Region. How to technically, economically and ecologically absorb local renewable electricity production surpluses from Saar and Rhineland to other neighbouring regions through smart management. The problem is complex and needs to be studied both technically and economically and sociologically (user acceptance). It must also furnish all actors in the economic chain and ensure good communication to policy makers in order to make the results of this project as operational as possible.

Le but de ce projet est d’analyser le problème à une échelle transfrontalière (transnationale) dans la Grande Région. Comment techniquement, économiquement et écologiquement absorber les surplus locaux de production électrique renouvelable de la Saar et la Rhénanie vers les autres régions voisines grâce à une gestion intelligente. Le problème est complexe et doit être étudié aussi bien au niveau technique qu’au niveau économique et sociologique (acceptation par les utilisateurs). Il doit aussi mobilier tous les acteurs de la chaîne économique et assurer une bonne communication vers les décideurs politiques afin de rendre les résultats de ce projet les plus opérationnels possibles.

Achievements (EN):

The aim of the PtH4GR²ID project was to propose a new organisation of the electricity market in the Greater Region in order to better balance supply and demand and adapt to the growth of renewable energies. The analysed solution is based on heat pumps that convert electricity into heat and enable their storage. Intelligent management strategies, based on the modelling of the building, heat pump and storage, are required. The problem was investigated from an economic, energetic, technical and ecological point of view, in numerical simulation and under real conditions.

Das Ziel des PtH4GR²ID-Projekts war es, eine neue Organisation des Strommarktes in der Großregion vorzuschlagen, um Angebot und Nachfrage besser auszugleichen und sich an das Wachstum der erneuerbaren Energien anzupassen. Die analysierte Lösung basiert auf Wärmepumpen, die Strom in Wärme umwandeln und deren Speicherung ermöglichen. Intelligente Managementstrategien, basierend auf der Modellierung des Gebäudes, der Wärmepumpe und des Speichers, sind erforderlich. Das Problem wurde aus wirtschaftlicher, energetischer, technischer und ökologischer Sicht untersucht, in numerischer Simulation und unter realen Bedingungen.
