Description (EN):

The main aim of the project is to create initiatives for the preservation and development of historical and cultural heritage in the cross-border region. Project activities will contribute to the popularisation of historical and cultural heritage using experience and innovative technologies. Within the undertaking, investment activities are planned, including construction and restoration works, along with the land development at the Museum “The Friedland Gate” in Kaliningrad. In Elbląg, on the other hand, there has been created a space for outdoor activities and exhibitions and a herbal garden in front of the building of the Museum of Archaeology and History. A multimedia center has been established at the Centre of European Meetings Światowid in Elbląg. “Światowid” has acquired, among other things, a new scanner and additional equipment for digitising museum collections, enabling digitising monuments. One of the main elements of the project was to conduct interviews with post-war inhabitants of Elbląg and Kaliningrad. Recordings containing their memories were made available at the museum exhibitions, whose scenery refers to the realities of life in both towns in the pioneer times, covering the first decade after 1945. In addition, in the frames of the project a holographic film was made, being a continuation of the story about the common history of Elbląg and Kaliningrad, which was implemented in the first stage of the project, in 2012- 2014. The project also foresees an expansion of the existing exhibitions and construction of the new ones, as well as the organization of conferences and other promotional activities.

Expected Results (EN):

Official statistics of the museums: Museum “The Friedland Gate” in Kaliningrad. Statistics for the 2017: 55 000,00 visitors. Museum of Archaeology and History in Elbląg for the 2017: 17 885,00 visitors. The total number of tourists in both museums and newly created multimedia area for year 2022: 103 000 visitors. Museum “The Friedland Gate” in Kaliningrad: 60 000 visitors in 2022. Museum of Archaeology and History in Elbląg: 40 000 visitors in 2022. Centre of European Meetings ŚWIATOWID in Elbląg: 3000 visitors in 2022.

Expected Outputs (EN):

Number of cross-border cultural events organised using the Programme support – 6. Number of improved cultural, historical, touristic and natural sites as a direct consequence of programme support – 2. Number of organisations using programme support for promoting local culture and preserving historical heritage – 3.
