Description (EN):

The main aim of the project is to preserve the historical heritage and promote the local culture of cross-border regions through the preservation of the museum ships “Sołdek” and “Vityaz” and the creation of permanent exhibitions promoting knowledge in the field of shipping and maritime transport. The project included renovation of the “Sołdek” museum ship. It included replacement of parts of the plating, structure and rivets. The hull and the interior of the hold were painted, electrical and fire protection installations were replaced. A new permanent exhibition has been established on the ship, describing people associated with it and about its heyday. There will also be information about the political, social and economic realities in which the ship was built and operated. Everything is presented using modern museum techniques so that visitors have direct contact with the exhibits and can actively participate in discovering history. Due to the limited possibilities of getting to know the exhibition on “Sołdek” by people with disabilities, in the hall of the headquarters of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk, in the Granaries in Ołowianka, a multimedia stand with the possibility of taking a virtual walk was created in 3D technology. Similar works have been planned on the Russian side, where the renovation of the museum ship “Vityaz” is also planned. The works include partial replacement of the underwater hull, repair of, among others, the pumping system and bottom tank system, replacement of the wooden deck cover, boat and weather station. Artistic open-airs in Poland and Russia were also organized within the project. More than 40 works by artists were presented during temporary post-open-air exhibitions in the new exhibition space, on the museum ship “Sołdek” in Gdańsk and at the Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad. The partners also prepared a catalog containing photos of the artists' works.

Base value - 130 000 people: 80000 people - LB 50 000 people - B; Target value - 180 000 people: 110 000 people - LB, 70000 people - B. Increased number of visitors to the historical heritage and cultural sites in cross-border region organisations using programme support for promoting local culture and preserving historical heritage will be 50 thousand.
