The overall objective of the Project is to build capacities of secondary schools in raising study motivation and performance of students (7-17 years), improving quality of education through partnership, innovations and interactive educational technologies in the border communities of Satu Mare county and Zakarpatska oblast. Medium-term impact: the innovative education approaches suggested by the project will be applied in other educational institutions of the programme area, improved quality of secondary education in the border communities proved by the results of annual performance assesments (performance improved by 5%), external independent evaluation of school graduates, increased number of tertiary students (by 1%). Long-term impact: reduced number of early school leavers in the target area (5%) and increase of employment rate among graduates of higher education (1%).

Expected Results (EN):

SO1 is to integrate innovations and ICT based teaching technologies (VIRTUAL LAB based on virtual and augmented realities, SCRATCH programming environment) into curricular programmes and extracurricular activities of 4 pilot shcools in the border communities of Romania and Ukraine; SO2 is to improve skills of teachers of the project region (namely, teaching staff of the pilot schools for VIRTUAL LAB, and invited teachers of informaticts from other schools of the target regions for SCRATCH ) in applying innovative ICT based technologies, methods of interaction with students in the curricular and extracurricular teaching process; SO3 is to arrange cross-border cooperation among educational institutions/authorities/professionals aimed to increase efficiency and improve the quality of education in the border regions of Romania and Ukraine.

Expected Outputs (EN):

2 The Virtual Lab (VR and AR class system) technology of the future will be integrated into the curricular programmes of 4 pilot schools. The technology will be applied in teaching of various subjects (STEM, human sciences) for different age groups from primary to high school. Scratch will be introduced as an after school programme for students but it can also be used for the curricular programme. This result will significantly improve education quality in the pilot schools and will serve a basis for dissemination in other schools of the programme area. The methodical recommendations and other materials will be transferred to education authorities in the target regions; 4 2-2 pilot schools in Satu Mare and Zakarpattia will get necessary equipment for the Virtual Lab (VR&AR systems, ICT equipment, special furniture and etc.) technology as well as access to software through the educational webportal on the basis of Class VR (Periodic) annual license. The secondary school in Satu Mare will get ICT equipment for 24 classrooms; secondary school in Nyzhnya Apsha will get equipment for the class of informatics; the school in Solotvyno will have a new Virtual Lab class established (incl. furniture and minor repairs). The Virtual Lab classroom in Solotvyno will be also used by the adjacent school that will secure better coverage of the target groups; 177 teaching staff of the pilot schools will be trained to use the VIRTUAL LAB technology and other ICT in teaching (117 teachers = 75 RO + 42 UA), and invited teachers of informaticts from other schools of the target regions for will be trained on SCRATCH courses (60 teachers = 50 UA + 10 RO). All the trainees will get certificates. 2 training programmes will be held; 1 at least 7 education institutions/authorities/development agencies will be involved in CBC to favour development of education, improving quality of education and developing of joint initiatives, projects and programmes, further spreading of ICT, VR and AR systems use in education. Furthermore, the partnership can be expanded by other education institutions and organizations among the participants of the conferences.
