Description (EN):

The RADAR project aims to acquire a new weather radar to improve the radar coverage of the small West Indies and thus improve the reliability and accuracy of weather forecasts for our territories. The radar data will support the forecasts of Météo France and the Sint-Maarten Meteorological Centre and will allow to deepen their analyses on the impacts of meteorological risks. With this project, the Saint-Martin Community and the Government of Sint-Maarten are contributing to the existing climate observation network and reliable and accurate measurements will be available continuously for the region. This project will then allow for better coordination of alerts and vigilance instructions on the same basis. Overall objective: — improve knowledge of the impacts of weather risks to the region; — establish common weather risk management systems;

Le projet RADAR vise l’acquérisition d'un nouveau radar météorologique afin d’améliorer la couverture radar des petites Antilles et donc la fiabilité et la précision des prévisions météorologiques pour nos territoires. Les données du radar viendront appuyer les prévisions de Météo France et du Centre Météorologique de Sint-Maarten et permettront d’approfondir leurs analyses sur les impacts des risques météorologiques. La Collectivité de Saint-Martin et le Gouvernement de Sint-Maarten apportent, avec ce projet, leur contribution au réseau d’observation du climat existant et des mesures fiables et précises seront disponibles en continu pour la région. Ce projet permettra donc ensuite une meilleure coordination des alertes et des consignes de vigilance sur une même base de mesures. Objectif global: - améliorer les connaissances sur les impacts des risques météorologiques pour la région; - mettre en place des systèmes communs de gestion des risques météorologiques;
