Description (EN):

This project has chosen to develop, by means of cross-border-cooperation, the handling and refining of reindeer meat and wild forest berries. Central project participants are companies from Finland and Russia, representing reindeer meat and forest berry business and other expert organisations. As to the reindeer meat and by-products, the specific objective is to use and refine in cross-border-cooperation more and better than earlier the ecologically pure and healthy products from the reindeer husbandry in Murmansk region and Nenets Autonomous district. The project seeks to improve the profitability of the partners, with additional working places and increasing income as a result.As to the forest berry products, the specific objective is to use and refine in cross-border-cooperation more and better than earlier the ecologically pure and healthy forest berries from the Murmansk region and Finnish Lapland

Achievements (EN):

Reindeer husbandry and natural berries are traditional livelihoods in the Kolarctic CBC region. Kolarctic Food refining has worked in improving the viability of them. The project has arranged training in production, training in marketing; product development; permissions to import reindeer meat products from Russia to EU; and it has spread knowledge about these industries

Expected Results (EN): A raised refining degree of wild berry products and reindeer meat products in the project region, increased export, and thus increased income to the meat and berry industy in the region

Expected Outputs (EN):

1. 11 new refined reindeer meat products for the Russian reindeer partners. 2. 8 new refined reindeer meat products for the Finnish reindeer partners. 3. 3 new reindeer based by-products for human food use for the Russian reindeer partners, 4. 4 new reindeer based by-products for pets' or other animals' usage. 5. 12 trained Russian reindeer meat handling and refining supervisors. 6. 20 trained Russian reindeer meat handling and refining workers. 7. 10 new refined forest berry products for the Russian partners. 8. 5 new refined forest berry products for the Finnish partners. 9. 4 new joint Finnish and Russian forest berry refined products for the partners. 10. 1 established showroom in Savukoski, FL, for joint refined forest berry products. 11. 10 new buyer companies in Finland for the Finnish and/or Russian forest berry products. 12. 2 new buyer companies in Sweden for the Finnish and/or Russian forest berry products. 13. 10 new buyer companies in Russia for the Russian and/or Finnish forest berry products. 14. 10 new buyer companies in Finland for the Russian and/or Finnish reindeer products. 15. 2 new buyer companies in Sweden for the Russian and/or Finnish reindeer products. 16. 10 new buyer companies in Russia for the Russian and/or Finnish reindeer products. 17. Most part or all preparation work made in order to get 2 permissions to import reindeer meat products to EU for the Russian reindeer partners. 18. 900 fulfilled training days for the Russian trainees. 19. 6 partner companies in Russia and Finland have made investments in production and storing equipment for the cross-border cooperation.
