10 partners with proved experience in the Blue Bioeconomy field from 8 Med countries and more than 300 Med stakeholders from universities, research centers, public authorities, business support organizations & Med multilateral organizations, working together for 22 months to create the Blue Biotechnologies (BBt) community in the Mediterranean. The exploitation of marine bio-resources through biotechnological solutions is a field with massive potential for innovation & economic growth, but it is a relatively young discipline, so opportunities & key enabling factors need a coordination.B-Blue project aims at gathering the key actors of the Med BBt sector and increase their innovation capacity and their coordination in order to unlock the innovation potential in the field through joint transnational initiatives, involving also organizations from the Southern Shore of the Mediterranean. The transnational coordination framework, the project aims to create, is based on an inclusive quintuple-helix approach always including the socio-environmental perspective in the decisional process and building on a common knowledge ground selected on the basis of its potential of addressing the SGDs at Med level. The B-Blue work towards to the implementation of a transnational coordination mechanism for the BBt community through the mutual interconnection the digital BBt community platform & a Med network of territorial based-collaborative space on selected BBt value chains (BBt HUBs).

D’une durée de 22 mois, le projet B-Blue réunit 10 partenaires, ayant une forte expérience dans le domaine de la bioéconomie bleue et vise à créer une Communauté Bleue des acteurs de la Biotechnologie (BBt) en Méditerranée. L'exploitation des bio-ressources marines par le biais de solutions biotechnologiques est un domaine à fort potentiel de croissance et d'innovation. Il s'agit toutefois d'une discipline relativement jeune, qui doit encore se structurer. Le projet B-Blue vise à rassembler plus de 300 parties prenantes positionnées sur différentes chaines de valeur des biotechnologies afin d’accroitre le potentiel d'innovation sur le terrain via des initiatives collaboratives et transnationales, impliquant également des organisations de la rive sud de la Méditerranée. Le cadre de coopération transnationale, que le projet vise à établir, est basé sur une approche inclusive de la quintuple hélice incluant les questions socio-environnementales dans le processus décisionnel et s'appuyant sur un terrain de connaissances communes sélectionné sur son potentiel à aborder les ODD. B-Blue favorise la synergie entre les acteurs méditerranéens ainsi que la consolidation et le partage de connaissances au travers la création de hubs régionaux, regroupant sur chaque territoire des acteurs de chaines de valeurs sélectionnées (BBt HUBs) et la création d’une plate-forme numérique regroupant les acteurs de la communauté au niveau méditerranéen.

Achievements (EN):

The project is proceeding beyond the expectation: it is getting a strong mediatic attention and many organizations participate to the project activities to the project activities and/or joined the events organized by the project. In fact aroud 400 stakeholders have been involved so far and many more have been reached through the project communication channels. More than 5.000 of them directly interacted with the project communication channels and we estimated that at least 10 times more are the persons already informed about the project thanks to information shared thorugh different channel and to the project partners participation to external events.
