Description (EN):

Across the Pyrenees, the distinctive character and diversity of vegetation are major elements at the heart of the biodiversity. The FLORALAB project aims to protect and preserve flora within the transborder region which are vulnerable to global changes. Seven organisations across the Eastern Pyrenees region will combine their strategies to sustain the ecology and the management of natural habitats, by founding and sustaining a network of “Open Air Botanical Laboratories” (LBCO). The combination of complementary skills and experience will help each territory in delivering a common strategy for the preservation of rare and threatened species across the Eastern Pyrenees (Pyrenees-Orientales, Catalonia, Ariege and Andorra). LBCOs will be places : - for studies (monitoring, genetic and pedological studies, coordinated management of test sites to know and preserve the floral heritage), - for exchanging and sharing (consolidation of the FLORACAT network that brings together managers of nature areas, research centres etc), - for training students. Throughout the project, students will be asked to support the implementation of the various themes of the programme. The project will culminate in a public event combining both science and culture. At the end of the project the networks created will be made accessible to any other regions that wish to participate in rolling out the project across the whole massif.

La originalidad y la diversidad florística son elementos importantes de la biodiversidad pirenaica. El proyecto FLORALAB tiene como objetivo preservar la flora de los ecosistemas transfronterizos del este de los Pirineos, vulnerables a los cambios globales (climáticos y actividades humanas). Aprovechando su diversidad de enfoques en ecología y gestión de hábitats naturales, siete estructuras del este de los Pirineos han propuesto fundar y administrar una red de "laboratorios botánicos a cielo abierto" (LBCO). Esta complementariedad de habilidades y de experiencias beneficiará a cada territorio involucrado en una estrategia común para la preservación a medio plazo de especies raras y amenazadas en el este de los Pirineos (Pirineos Orientales, Cataluña, Ariège y Andorra). Los LBCO serán lugares: - de estudio (controles de seguimiento, estudios genéticos y pedológicos, pruebas de gestión concertada), - de intercambio y de puesta en común (consolidar la red FLORACAT, que reúne a gestores de espacios naturales, centros de investigación etc), - de formación para estudiantes. A lo largo del proyecto, se pedirá a los estudiantes que acompañen la implementación de diversas acciones. Al final del proyecto está previsto un gran acto dirigido al público en general que combinará cultura y ciencia. La red se abrirá, al final del proyecto, a otras regiones que deseen unirse a la red para ampliar el enfoque en todo el macizo.

L'originalité et la diversité floristique sont des éléments majeurs de la biodiversité pyrénéenne. FLORALAB vise à préserver la flore au sein des écosystèmes transfrontaliers de l’Est des Pyrénées, vulnérable aux changements globaux. Sept structures de l'Est des Pyrénées proposent ainsi de fonder et d'animer un réseau de « laboratoires botaniques à ciel ouvert » (LBCO). Cette complémentarité de compétences et d’expériences profitera à chaque territoire impliqué pour une stratégie commune de préservationdes espèces rares et menacées de l'est pyrénéens (des Pyrénées-Orientales, de Catalogne, d'Ariège et d'Andorre). Les LBCO seront des lieux : - d’études (suivis, études génétiques et pédologiques, sites tests de gestion concertée, en s’appuyant sur des outils de saisis à créer (base de données et formulaires) pour conserver et faire connaître la flore patrimoniale, - d’échanges et de partage (consolider les travaux du réseau FLORACAT, qui réunit des gestionnaires d'espaces naturels, des centres de recherche etc), - de formation d'étudiants. Tout au long du projet, les étudiants seront sollicités pour accompagner la mise en place des actions. Un événementiel grand public, mêlant la culture et la science est prévu en fin de projet. Le réseau s’ouvrira, en fin de projet, aux autres régions qui souhaiteraient intégrer le réseau pour élargir la démarche sur l’ensemble du massif
