Las 3 regiones del proyecto NaturClima (Navarra, Pirineos Atlánticos y Altos Pirineos) cuentan con un patrimonio natural y cultural del que forman parte EN protegidos (parques naturales y espacios Natura 2000) a ambos lados del Pirineo. La gestión y gobernanza de los EN seleccionados (Parque Nacional de los Pirineos-PNP, PN. Urbasa y PN fronterizo de Bértiz, en Navarra; y los espacios atlánticos y marinos del litoral), es una prioridad para las 6 entidades y autoridades socias de NaturClima, cuyo objetivo es: incrementar la cooperación entre ellas para la gestión y gobernanza de EN, así como proteger, fomentar y mejorar su ADAPTACIÓN al CC; identificando BBPP y, capitalizando y transfiriendo conocimiento a todos los implicados, en un marco de gobernanza participativa, desarrollando experiencias piloto innovadoras en EN para convertirlos en EN de Referencia de Adaptación al CC (ENRACC). Para ello, se proponen 3 Acciones técnicas, agrupando diferentes actividades innovadoras de Adaptación al CC entre los años 2019-2022, en 3 temáticas: 1) Migración de aves y Fenología, 2) Gestión y Gobernanza participativa de EN y 3) Educación Ambiental, Formación e Información. La metodología e implementación del proyecto será trasladable a otros EN de estas regiones y otros territorios.

Description (EN):

The 3 project regions of the project (Navarra, P. Atlantiques and H. Pyrénées) have a natural and cultural heritage of which protected NS are part (natural parks and Natura 2000 sites) on both sides of the Pyrenees. The management and governance of the selected NS (National Park of the Pyrenees-PNP, PN Urbasa and border PN of Bértiz, in Navarra, and the Atlantic and marine areas), is a priority for the 6 entities and partner authorities of NaturClima project, with the following objective: to increase the cooperation among managers of the NS for their governance, as well as to protect, promote and improve their ADAPTATION to the CC; identifying BBPP and capitalizing and transferring knowledge to all those involved, in a framework of participatory governance, developing innovative pilot experiences in some NS to convert them into CC Adaptation Reference NS (CCARNS). For this, NaturClima proposes to develop 3 Technical Actions, grouping different innovative activities of Adaptation to CC between 2019-22, in 3 themes: 1) Migration of birds and Phenology, 2) Management and Participatory Governance of NS and 3) Environmental Education , Training and Information. The methodology and implementation of the project will be transferable to other NS in these regions and other territories.

Les 3 régions du projet NaturClima (Navarre, P. Atlantiques et H. Pyrénées) possèdent un patrimoine naturel et culturel dont les EN protégés qui font partie (Parcs Naturels et sites Natura 2000) des 2 côtés des Pyrénées. La gestion et la gouvernance des EN sélectionnés (Parc national des Pyrénées, PN Urbasa et PN frontière de Bértiz, en Navarre, et des espaces atlantiques et marins du littoral) constituent une priorité pour les 6 entités et autorités partenaires du projet, dont l’objectif est: renforcer la coopération entre eux pour la gestion et gouvernance d’EN, ainsi que protéger, promouvoir et améliorer leur ADAPTATION au CC; identifiant BBPP, capitalisant et transférant des connaissances dans un cadre de gouvernance participative, développant expériences pilotes innovantes dans les EN choisis des 2 côtés et en les transformant en Espaces Naturels de Référence d’Adaptation au CC (ENRACC). Pour cela, 3 Actions techniques sont proposées, regroupant différentes activités innovantes d’adaptation au CC de 2019 à 2022, en 3 thèmes: 1) Migration des oiseaux - phénologie, 2) Gestion et Gouvernance participative des EN et 3) Éducation à l’Environnement, Formation et Information. La méthodologie et implémentation seront transférables à d'autres EN de ces régions et d'autres territoires.

Achievements (ES):

Los parques naturales del Señorío de Bertiz y Urbasa-Andia, espacios de referencia en adaptación. Los principales escenarios de actuación del proyecto han sido los parques naturales navarros del Señorío de Bertiz y Urbasa-Andia, los espacios atlánticos y marinos del litoral de Pirineos Atlánticos y el Parque Nacional de Pirineos, donde se han desarrollado estudios y actuaciones encaminadas a convertir estos enclaves en espacios naturales de referencia en adaptación al cambio climático. En estos lugares se han realizado estudios de flora, fauna y suelos en relación con los cambios climáticos, con programas tan innovadores como Orchamp, aplicado por primera vez en el Parque Nacional de Pirineos. Sus resultados y los de otros programas de seguimiento del Parque se mostrarán próximamente en un portal web denominado observatorio climático. En el caso de Urbasa, también se ha analizado el patrimonio geológico y arqueológico, a fin de ponerlo en valor y mejorar su conservación. En Bertiz, se ha intervenido para erradicar y controlar especies invasoras como el Prunus laurocerasus, Fallopia, Palmera, Caqui de Virginia y Pawlonia tomentosa. Con el fin de evitar la colonización por parte se estas especies, también se han llevado a cabo plantaciones de castaños y sembrado bellotas de Quercus robur. Otras actuaciones se han dirigido a mejorar los servicios y equipamientos de los espacios naturales para reducir impactos ambientales y compatibilizar sus usos recreativos, ganaderos y forestales con la conservación. En esta línea, se han acondicionado senderos e infraestructuras, renovado y creado equipamientos, sustituido energías fósiles por otras más sostenibles, mejorado la accesibilidad y habilitado servicios para visitantes. Estudios de aves y del carbono de los prados De forma paralela, fuera de estos lugares de referencia se han llevado a cabo varios estudios en torno al cambio climático. Por una parte, en el collado de Lindus y en las zonas marinas de los Pirineos Atlánticos, se ha realizado un seguimiento de las aves, cuyos patrones migratorios son un claro indicador de los cambios climáticos. Los resultados se reflejarán en una publicación conjunta del Centre de la Mer de Biarritz y de Gestión Ambiental de Navarra. Por otra parte, se ha desarrollado un trabajo de investigación sobre la fijación del carbono en pastos navarros de alto valor natural en colaboración la Universidad Pública de Navarra y la Universidad del País Vasco, que ha confirmado que la capacidad de almacenaje de carbono orgánico de los prados del sistema de alto valor natural (SAVN) ganadero extensivo pirenaico es elevada, con concentraciones equivalentes e incluso superiores a las que se pueden encontrar en suelos forestales. Formación de profesionales y sensibilización Junto a los estudios científicos, la formación de profesionales ha sido otra de las líneas de actuación del proyecto NaturClima: se han impartido seminarios sobre gobernanza participativa, cursos para formar personal técnico en sostenibilidad y talleres sobre gestión de bosques, educación ambiental, gestión de espacios marinos y migración de aves. A través de la educación ambiental y la sensibilización, las entidades socias de NaturClima han trabajado para formar a una población concienciada sobre los retos climáticos y el valor de los espacios naturales que participe en su conservación. Para ello, se ha apostado por propuestas innovadoras y con enfoque positivo como el juego de mesa Kosta sobre biodiversidad marina, el escape room de adaptación al cambio climático Mission Climat y las Cartes Blanches que, apelando al sentimiento, han incluido espectáculos de calle y programas intergeneracionales de radio. También ha primado el enfoque participativo, como en el caso de las Áreas Marinas Educativas del litoral de Pirineos Atlánticos, donde se invita a niños y niñas a gestionar los espacios costeros. Además, se ha creado una guía pedagógica y se han desarrollado jornadas abiertas al público, sesiones y concursos con escolares, acciones de voluntariado juvenil y viajes de estudios con futuros y futuras profesionales del Medio Ambiente. Numerosas y variadas actividades que han sido difundidas a través de la web www.naturclimapoctefa.eu , los boletines digitales, perfiles en redes sociales y productos de merchandising.

Achievements (EN):

The natural parks of the Señorío de Bertiz and Urbasa-Andia, reference spaces in adaptation. The main scenarios of the project have been the Navarrean natural parks of the Señorío de Bertiz and Urbasa-Andia, the Atlantic and marine spaces of the coast of Pyrenees Atlanticos and the National Park of Pyrenees, where studies and actions have been developed aimed at turning these enclaves into natural spaces of reference in adaptation to climate change. In these places there have been studies of flora, fauna and soils in relation to climate change, with programs as innovative as Orchamp, first applied in the Pyrenees National Park. Its results and those of other monitoring programs of the Park will soon be displayed on a web portal called the climate observatory. In the case of Urbasa, the geological and archaeological heritage has also been analysed, in order to put it in value and improve its conservation. In Bertiz, it has intervened to eradicate and control invasive species such as Prunus laurocerasus, Fallopia, Palmera, Caqui of Virginia and Pawlonia tomentosa. In order to avoid colonisation by these species, chestnut plantations and seeded Quercus robur acorns have also been carried out. Other actions have been aimed at improving the services and equipment of natural spaces to reduce environmental impacts and reconcile their recreational, livestock and forestry uses with conservation. In this line, trails and infrastructure have been conditioned, renovated and created equipment, replaced fossil energy with more sustainable ones, improved accessibility and enabled visitor services. Bird and carbon studies of meadows In parallel, several studies on climate change have been carried out outside these landmarks. On the one hand, in the Lindus hill and in the marine areas of the Pyrenees Atlantic, birds have been monitored, whose migratory patterns are a clear indicator of climate changes. The results will be reflected in a joint publication of the Centre de la Mer de Biarritz and Environmental Management of Navarra. On the other hand, research has been carried out on the fixing of carbon in high natural value navarre pastures in collaboration with the Public University of Navarre and the University of the Basque Country, which has confirmed that the storage capacity of the meadows of the high natural value system (SAVN) extensive pyrenaic livestock system is high, with concentrations equivalent and even higher than those that can be found in forest soils. Training of professionals and awareness-raising Along with scientific studies, the training of professionals has been another of the lines of action of the NaturClima project: seminars on participatory governance, courses to train technical staff in sustainability and workshops on forest management, environmental education, marine space management and bird migration have been conducted. Through environmental education and awareness raising, NaturClima’s partner entities have worked to train a population aware of the climate challenges and the value of natural spaces that participate in their conservation. To do this, it has opted for innovative proposals and with a positive approach such as the Kosta board game on marine biodiversity, the escape room of adaptation to climate change Mission Climat and the Cartes Blanches that, appealing to sentiment, have included street shows and intergenerational radio programs. The participatory approach has also prevailed, as in the case of the Marine Educational Areas of the coast of Pyrenees Atlánticos, where children are invited to manage coastal spaces. In addition, a pedagogical guide has been created and open days have been developed, sessions and contests with schoolchildren, youth volunteering actions and study trips with future and future environmental professionals.
