Description (EN):

NUTRIA project will be devoted to the development of a new tool for waste water treatment, that will be cheap, efficient, environmentally-friendly, and easy-to-apply for the food and agriculture SMEs. NUTRIA will focus, in a first instance, in using technology to diminish the inherent problems in eliminating water contamination in wineries, being the results beneficial for other agricultural companies. The need to deal with the current environmental legislation complicates the continuation and creation of new enterprises, due to the high cost of existent waste water treatment processes. NUTRIA emerges as a solution to this problem, using solar light as energy source and new nanomaterials based on titanium oxide to reduce the toxic materials content by promoting photocatalytic processes in their surface. The project will benefit small wineries and companies of the agricultural sector that will gain access to a new and affordable technology. All this Will produce a reduction of the expenses for the waste treatment that, up to date posed economic burden for the microSMEs, making easy the economic activity in rural zones.

El proyecto NUTRIA pretende desarrollar una nueva herramienta de depuración de aguas residuales, barata, eficiente y medioambientalmente sostenible, que sea de fácil aplicación para las PYMES del sector agroalimentario. En el proyecto nos vamos a centrar en el uso de la tecnología para reducir los problemas existentes en la eliminación de material orgánico procedente de bodegas, que provocan contaminación de los suelos y cuencas hidrográficas, siendo extrapolables los resultados a otras industrias agrolimentarias. Esta problemática dificulta la continuidad y creación de nuevas empresas que puedan soportar la actual legislación medioambiental debido al alto coste de los procesos de depuración existentes. En este sentido, NUTRIA utilizando la luz solar como fuente de energía y nuevos nanomateriales basados en óxido de titanio, reducirá el contenido en materiales tóxicos a través de procesos fotocatalíticos promovidos por estos nanomateriales. El proyecto beneficiará a pequeñas bodegas y empresas del sector agroalimentario, que tendrán acceso a una nueva y asequible tecnología. La reducción del coste de los gastos de depuración evitará el lastre económico que esto suponía para las micropymes, y permitirá un mayor desarrollo de la actividad económica en zonas rurales.

Le projet NUTRIA vise à développer un nouvel outil d'épuration des eaux usées, bon marché, efficace et écologiquement durable, qui soit facile à appliquer pour les PME du secteur agro-alimentaire. Pour ce projet, nous allons nous concentrer sur l'utilisation de la technologie pour réduire les problèmes existants dans l'élimination de matières organiques provenant des caves, qui entraînent la pollution des sols et des bassins versants, avec des résultats extrapolables à d'autres industries agroalimentaires. Cette problématique rend difficile la continuité et la création de nouvelles entreprises qui ne peuvent supporter la législation actuelle de l'environnement en raison du coût élevé des processus d'épuration. Dans ce contexte, NUTRIA, en utilisant la lumière solaire comme source d'énergie et de nouveaux nanomatériaux basés en oxyde de titane, réduit la teneur en matières toxiques grâce à des processus photocatalytiques promus par ces nanomatériaux. Le projet bénéficiera aux petites caves et aux entreprises du secteur agro-alimentaire, qui auront accès à une nouvelle et abordable technologie. La réduction du coût des dépenses de nettoyage évitera le fardeau économique que cela représentait pour les micro-PME et permettra un plus grand développement de l'activité économique dans les zones rurales.

Achievements (EN):

The NUTRIA project has made it possible to synthesize photocatalysts capable of treating wine effluents on a small scale. The magnetization of the photocatalyst has demonstrated its usefulness both by intensifying the degradation of the COD but also by its ease of being recovered by a magnet. An optimization of the semi-industrial reactor could be done so that the system is perfectly operational.
