Description (EN):

The Pyrenean seaboard harbors a large part of the north-western Mediterranean biodiversity, as well as a great diversity of habitats used by various emblematic species with a high economic and heritage value. To preserve this high biodiversity and ecosystem services (fishing, tourism, leisure ...), the different French and Spanish administrations have taken various measures of spatial management (Marine Protected Areas) and fisheries regulation. However, there are evidences that these regulations are not efficient for many exploited species (symptoms of overfishing). This problem derives from the sectoral regulation of the different administrations that have not considered the whole region as an ecological unit in which species use different habitats throughout their life histories. RESMED aims to improve the quality of ecosystems and their associated biodiversity through the design and implementation of conservation and management actions that include all essential habitats that use diverse species with different life cycles, and at a cross-border regional scale including the participation of all stakeholders of the region. RESMED will perform a diagnosis of the conservation status of different commercial species with contrasted life cycles, will study the movement and use of the different key habitats they use throughout their life history during the feeding, reproduction and recruitment and nursery phases, as well as the habitats that they use as ecological corridors. This information will be very useful to design effective management measures integrating spatial regulations and fisheries measures at a regional transboundary level.

El litoral marino del Pirineo alberga una gran parte de la biodiversidad del Mediterráneo noroccidental, así como una gran diversidad de hábitats utilizados por diversas especies emblemáticas con un alto valor patrimonial y económico. Para preservar ésta elevada biodiversidad y sus servicios ecosistémicos (pesca, turismo, ocio…), las diferentes administraciones Francesa y Española han tomado diversas medidas de gestión espacial (reservas marinas) y de regulación pesquera. No obstante, hay evidencias de que éstas regulaciones no son eficientes para muchas especies explotadas (síntomas de sobrepesca). Ésta problemática deriva de la regulación sectorial de las diferentes administraciones que no han considerado toda la región como una unidad ecológica en la cual las especies utilizan los diferentes hábitats a lo largo de sus historias de vida. RESMED tiene como objetivo mejorar la calidad de los ecosistemas y su biodiversidad asociada mediante el diseño e implementación de acciones de conservación y manejo que incluyan todos los hábitats esenciales que utilizan diversas especies con diversos ciclos de vida diferentes, y a una escala regional transfronteriza. Para esto, se realizará una diagnosis del estado de conservación de diferentes especies comerciales con ciclos de vida contrastados, y se investigará el movimiento y el uso de los diferentes hábitats que utilizan a lo largo de su historia de vida durante las fases de alimentación, reproducción y reclutamiento, así como los hábitats que utilizan como corredores ecológicos. Esta información será de gran utilidad para diseñar medidas de gestión efectivas integrando regulaciones espaciales y medidas pesqueras a un nivel regional transfronterizo.

Le littoral pyrénéen abrite une grande part de la biodiversité du nord-ouest de la Méditerranée, et une grande diversité d'habitats utilisés par des espèces emblématiques à haute valeur économique et patrimoniale. Pour préserver cette biodiversité et ces services écosystémiques (pêche, tourisme, loisirs), les différentes administrations française et espagnole ont pris des mesures de gestion de l’espace (réserves marines) et de réglementation de la pêche. Or, il est prouvé que ces réglementations ne sont pas optimales pour de nombreuses espèces exploitées (symptômes de surpêche). Ce problème découle de la réglementation sectorielle des différentes administrations qui n'ont pas considéré l'ensemble de la région comme une unité écologique au sein de laquelle les espèces utilisent différents habitats pendant leur cycle de vie. RESMED vise à améliorer la qualité des écosystèmes et de la biodiversité associée à travers la conception et la mise en œuvre d'actions de conservation et de gestion incluant tous les habitats essentiels utilisés par des espèces variées ayant différents cycles de vie, ceci à une échelle régionale transfrontalière, avec la participation de tous les acteurs du territoire. Un diagnostic de l’état de conservation de différentes espèces commerciales ayant un cycle de vie éprouvé sera établi et l’utilisation des différents habitats qu’ils utilisent tout au long de leur cycle de vie au cours des phases d’alimentation, de reproduction et de recrutement (juvénile) seront étudiés, ainsi que les habitats qu’ils utilisent comme corridors écologiques. Ces informations seront indispensables pour concevoir des mesures de gestion efficaces.
