Description (EN):

The Plateau des Guyanes faces the dual imperative of preserving biodiversity and socio-economic development. It remains therefore important to synthesise and make available the best possible information on biodiversity areas and those offering the most important “ecosystem services”. However, ecosystem services are still poorly valued in the region. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: The aim is to strengthen the links of cooperation on the Plateau des Guianas, in terms of knowledge and methods of analysis of ecosystem services in order to provide decision-making tools on transnational issues consistent with the objectives of each of the stakeholders. ECOSEO therefore proposes to set up a transnational observatory to promote the identification, mapping and preservation of the main ecosystem services.

Le Plateau des Guyanes est confronté au double impératif de préservation de la biodiversité et du développement socioéconomique. Il demeure donc important de synthétiser et de rendre disponible la meilleure information possible concernant les zones de biodiversité, et celles offrant les « services écosystémiques » les plus importants. Or, les services écosystémiques sont encore faiblement valorisés dans la région. DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: Il s’agit de renforcer les liens de coopération sur le Plateau des Guyanes, en matière de connaissances et de méthodes d’analyse des services écosystémiques dans le but de fournir des outils d’aide à la décision sur les enjeux transnationaux en cohérence avec les objectifs de chacune des parties prenantes. ECOSEO se propose donc de mettre en place un observatoire transnational permettant de favoriser l’identification, la cartographie et la préservation des principaux services écosystémiques.
