The idea is that while the Fehmarn Belt connection, and faster rail service, are built, we can develop a graduate program in Business Administration tying the border regions together and support the economic and sustainable development of a Northern European transnational region. We develop the idea and investigate the needs and potential for a joint or double Danish/German graduate program. The aim is to strengthen the cross-border labor market for graduates with a master’s degree in Business Administration and thereby strengthening the mobility and the development of a coherent Fehmarn Belt region. Graduates with a joint or double master’s degree in Business Administration will strengthen the business development of the trans-national region in terms of exploiting the potentials of the future permanent connection between Denmark and Germany. Therefore, we apply for a network project at the DE DK Interreg Secretariat, intending to build a network between the responsibles of the Business Programs at the Department of Social Sciences and Business, Roskilde University (RUC) and the Institut für Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Die Wirtschafts- & Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Uni Kiel, Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU). A challenge has been either the national or the much broader international orientation of the programs and the lack of focus on Danish-German cooperation in the region. Graduates with an integrated Danish-German background can support the region's business cross-border and support the Northern European economic integration. If the network cooperation in the future is expanded to include the universities of Hamburg and Lund (SE), the scope will be expanded to cover a larger part of the geography of the STRING corridor (Southwestern Baltic Sea Transregional Area Inventing New Geography). However, in this first step, we build the cooperation between RUC and CAU, and discuss future possibilities for expanding the geography. The project will explore the target group, opportunities, and frameworks, and develop the vision for and a prototype of a curriculum for a transnational master's degree program with a joint or double degree.

Die Idee ist, dass wir während des Baus der Fehmarn-Belt-Verbindung sowie eines schnelleren Schienenverkehrs ein Bildungsprogramm in Betriebswirtschaft entwickeln, das die Grenzregionen zusammenhält und die wirtschaftliche und nachhaltige Entwicklung eines Nordeuropäischen Trans- nationale Region zusammenhält. Darüber hinaus werden wir die Idee eines gemeinsamen (oder doppelten) Master-Abschlusses in Betriebswirtschaft entwickeln und die Bedürfnisse und das Potenzial eines gemeinsamen oder doppelte dänisch / deutschen Master-Programmes untersuchen. Das Ziel ist, den grenzüberschreitenden Arbeitsmarkt für Absolventen mit Abschluss in Betriebswirtschaft zu stärken und damit die Mobilität und Entwicklung einer kohärenten Region des Fehmarn-Belts zu stärken. Absolventen mit einem gemeinsamen oder doppelte Master-abschluss in Betriebswirtschaft werden die Geschäftsentwicklung der transnationalen Region stärken, um die Potenziale der künftigen dauerhaften Verbindung zwischen Dänemark und Deutschland auszuschöpfen. Wir bewerben uns deshalb um ein Netzwerkprojekt beim DE DK Interreg Sekretariat. Im diesem Rahmen werden wir ein Netzwerk zwischen den Verantwortlichen der Business-Programme des Fachbereichs Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften der Universität Roskilde (RUC) und des Instituts für Betriebswirtschaftslehre, die Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Uni Kiel, Christian- Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU), aufbauen. Eine Herausforderung ist entweder die nationale oder die viel breitere internationale Ausrichtung der Programme und das fehlende Fokus auf die dänisch-deutsche Zusammenarbeit in der Region. Absolventen mit einem integrierten dänisch-deutschen Hintergrund das grenzüberschreitende Geschäft der Region sowie die wirtschaftliche Integration Nordeuropas unterstützen können. Wenn die Netzwerkkooperation in der Zukunft an die Universitäten Hamburg und Lund (SE) ausgedehnt wird, wird der Anwendungsbereich auf einen größeren Teil der Geographie des STRING-Korridors (Transregionales Gebiet der südwestlichen Ostsee, das neue Geographie erfindet) ausgedehnt. In diesem ersten Schritt bauen wir jedoch die Zusammenarbeit zwischen RUC und CAU auf und diskutieren zukünftige Möglichkeiten zur Erweiterung der Geografie. Das Projekt wird die Zielgruppe, die Möglichkeiten und die Rahmenbedingungen untersuchen und die Vision und den Prototyp eines Lehrplans für einen transnationalen Master-Abschluss mit einem gemeinsamen oder doppelten Abschluss entwickeln.

I netværksprojektet udvikles ideen til en fælles eller dobbelt dansk-tysk kandidatgrad i Business Administration og behovene for og potentialet undersøges. Målet er at styrke det grænseoverskridende arbejdsmarked for kandidater med en kandidatgrad i Business Administration og derved styrke mobiliteten, erhvervsudviklingen og udviklingen af en sammenhængende Femern Bælt-region og derved øge udnyttelsen af de potentialer, som den fremtidige permanente forbindelse mellem Danmark og Tyskland skaber. Vi søger derfor om et netværksprojekt ved DE DK Interreg-sekretariatet, med det formål at opbygge et netværk mellem de ansvarlige for de erhvervsøkonomiske programmer ved Institut for Samfundsvidenskab og Erhverv, Roskilde Universitet (RUC) og Institut für Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Die Wirtschafts- & Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Uni Kiel, Christian- Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU). En udfordring har været enten den nationale eller den meget bredere internationale orientering af de erhvervsøkonomiske programmer og manglende fokus på det dansk-tyske samarbejde i regionen. Kandidater med en integreret dansk-tysk baggrund kan støtte regionens virksomheder på tværs af grænserne og understøtte en nordeuropæisk økonomisk integration. Hvis netværkssamarbejdet i fremtiden udvides til også at omfatte universiteterne i Hamborg og Lund (SE), vil rækkevidden blive udvidet til at dække en større del af geografien i STRING-korridoren (Southwestern Baltic Sea Transregional Area Inventing New Geography). I dette første trin bygger vi samarbejdet mellem RUC og CAU og diskuterer fremtidige muligheder for at udvidelse af geografien. Expected Results (EN):

Investigating the potential for and create a prototype of a curriculum for a joint or double master's degree in Business Administration carried through by the partners, RUC and CAU. If approved the project will expand educational opportunities, and 1) create graduates with cross-boarder competencies capable of further the strongholds of the program region's businesses 2) reduce the barriers by mutual recognition of obtained exam results. 3)Increased cross-border student exchange The overall target may be described through these sub-targets: 1) to better know the potential employers' and students' requirements in order to match the prototype of the curriculum for the master's degree with the labor market in the program-region. 2) to better know the possibilities for scholarly collaboration and complementation between the two partners, RUC and CAU. This may also create incentives to further develop the ties among the two universities, the businesses in the program-region, and the labor market (the graduates). 3) to develop a prototype of a curriculum for a joint or double degree aligned with the potential employers' and students' requirements, take advantage of the strongholds and possible complementarity among the partner universities, and position a proposal according to the decision-making criteria in both nations and universities. A joint or double master's degree contributes to breaking down barriers to credit transfer for exams passed and/or mutual recognition of obtained exam results, and also encourage students to study across the boarder. It may as well further exchange of scholars. Thus, the network project is about investigating and developing the ideas in such a way, as to align a joint or double degree in Business Administration with all stakeholder interests and bring about a solid foundation for educating students with good employability at both sides of the border, and with the ability to help further the regional businesses development, grasping the growth potentials generated by a permanent Fehmarn Belt connection and transform for sustainability.
