The Upper Austria-Salzburg-Niederbayern region is characterised by the fact that this region can be characterised as an economically potent location. An important focus of this business location lies on the industrial-technical sector. For this, it is typical that broad and specific knowledge of the employees from the STEM sector is required. Despite these economic positive conditions (high demand in the labour market for STEM skills), low motivation in STEM studies or STEM occupations can be recognised among pupils and students in the larger region. The cross-border cooperation of STEM Learning Centers proposed in this project aims to provide students with the opportunity to get to know STEM applications in extracurricular contexts and thereby increase the motivation and competences of STEM learners. The core outputs of the project MINT Learning Center are:Building and expanding local STEM Learning CentersDevelopment and evaluation of extracurricular STEM learning resourcesBuilding sustainable cross-border cooperationExternal opportunities for students to discover STEM skillsThe main professionals of the project MINT Learning Center are: Secondary school pupils and tertiary educational institutions (STEM faculties)Business enterprises from the STEM sectorThe networking of regional competence providers at cross-border level is necessary in order to mutually benefit from the implementation of the SINT Learning Centers and to be able to use funds more effectively. Specific focus and individual promotion of interests will be complemented by existing initiatives.

Die Region Oberösterreich-Salzburg-Niederbayern zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass diese Region als wirtschaftlich potenter Standort charakterisiert werden kann. Ein wichtiger Fokus dieses Wirtschaftsstandortes liegt auf dem industriell-technischen Sektor. Hierfür ist es typisch, dass breites und spezifisches Wissen der Mitarbeiter/innen aus dem MINT-Bereich benötigt wird. Trotz dieser wirtschaftlich positiven Rahmenbedingungen (hohe Nachfrage am Arbeitsmarkt nach MINT-Kompetenzen) kann bei Schüler/innen und Studierenden in der Großregion eine geringe Motivation an MINT-Studien oder MINT-Berufen erkannt werden. Durch die in diesem Projekt vorgeschlagene grenzüberschreitende Kooperation von MINT Learning Centern soll Schüler/innen v.a. der Sekundarstufen die Möglichkeit geboten werden, in außerschulischen Kontexten MINT-Anwendungen kennenzulernen und hierdurch sollen die Motivation und Kompetenzen der Lernenden im MINT-Bereich gesteigert werden. Die Kernoutputs des Projekts MINT Learning Center sind:Auf- und Ausbau von lokalen MINT Learning CenternEntwicklung und Evaluierung von außerschulischen MINT-LernressourcenAufbau einer nachhaltigen grenzüberschreitenden ZusammenarbeitAußerschulische Möglichkeiten für Schüler/innen MINT-Kompetenzen zu entdeckenDie Haupt-Profiteure der Projekts MINT Learning Center sind: Schüler/innen der SekundarstufeSchulen und tertiäre Bildungsinstitutionen (MINT-Fakultäten)Wirtschaftsbetriebe aus dem MINT-BereichDie Vernetzung der regionalen Kompetenzträger auf grenzüberschreitender Ebene ist erforderlich, um beim Umsetzen der MINT Learning Center wechselseitig profitieren und Mittel effektiver einsetzen zu können. Durch gezielte Schwerpunktbildung und individuelle Interessensförderung sollen bestehende Initiativen ergänzt werden.

Expected Results (DE): EI 7 - Kooperationsintensität - gemessen am Anteil derjenigen, die grenzüberschreitende Kooperationen als zumindest überdurchschnittlich bewerten (in % der gesamten Bewertung)

Expected Outputs (DE): Die im Projekt entwickelten digitalen und analogen MINT-Lernumgebungen und Workshops stehen allen Schüler/innen und Schulen der Projektregion zur Verfügung. Dazu werden auch spezielle grenzüberschreitende Veranstaltungen und Workshops durchgeführt.
