With this cross-border pilot project, the project partners European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI), University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH OÖ), Federal Research Center for Forestry (BFW) and Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU) together with the project participants Bayerische Landesanstalt für Wald & Forestry (LWF), the Office for Food, Agriculture & Forestry (AELF), Federal Ministry for Sustainability & Tourism (BMNT), Upper Austria Tourism (OÖT) and Tourism Association East Bavaria (TVO) as well as the five pilot regions of Bad Birnbach, Braunau-Simbach, Traunsee-Almtal, Tennengau and Neuauyer/Bayer/Bavaria. Forest approaches the current theme “Forest Tourism Health” in order to work together to develop the foundations of sustainable health tourism use of local forests and the associated natural resources. Based on a detailed inventory and potential analysis of the pilot regions, serious cooperation and business models for the sustainable health tourism use of local forest and natural areas in the respective pilot regions are developed (e.g. forest-related prevention measures). Taking into account the analysis of current (training) offers and the training needs of so-called “forest therapists”, which represent an essential role as a mediator and link in such destinations, transferable, sustainable implementation strategies for health forests are developed in the form of a guide. The joint project implementation results in addition to the concrete development of sustainable implementation strategies, in particular the establishment of a long-term cross-border cooperation partnership at different levels (science, tourism, forestry, medicine) and the development of a region-specific strength and research field “Wald, Tourism & Health”, which forms the basis for further thematic networking as well as for important follow-up projects.

Mit diesem grenzüberschreitenden Pilotprojekt wollen sich die Projektpartner European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI), Fachhochschule Oberösterreich (FH OÖ), Bundesforschungszentrum für Wald (BFW) sowie Paracelsus Medizinische Privatuniversität (PMU) zusammen mit den Projektteilnehmern Bayerische Landesanstalt für Wald & Forstwirtschaft (LWF), Amt für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft & Forsten (AELF), Bundesministerium für Nachhaltigkeit & Tourismus (BMNT), Oberösterreich Tourismus (OÖT) und Tourismusverband Ostbayern (TVO) sowie den fünf Pilotregionen Bad Birnbach, Braunau-Simbach, Traunsee-Almtal, Tennengau und Neureichenau/Bayer. Wald dem aktuellen Themenkomplex „Wald-Tourismus-Gesundheit“ nähern, um gemeinsam die Grundlagen einer nachhaltigen gesundheitstouristischen Nutzung lokaler Wälder und der damit verbundenen naturräumlichen Ressourcen zu erarbeiten. Aufbauend auf einer detaillierten Bestands- &Potentialanalyse der Pilotregionen werden seriöse Kooperations- und Geschäftsmodelle für die nachhaltige gesundheitstouristische Nutzung lokaler Wald- und Naturräume in den jeweiligen Pilotregionen entwickelt (z.B. waldbezogene Präventionsmaßnahmen). Unter Einbezug der Analyse aktueller (Ausbildungs-)Angebote und des Ausbildungsbedarfes sog. „Waldtherapeuten“, die eine essentielle Rolle als Vermittler und Bindeglied in derartigen Destinationen darstellen, werden übertragbare, nachhaltige Umsetzungsstrategien für Gesundheitswälder in Form eines Leitfadens erarbeitet. Die gemeinsame Projektumsetzung resultiert dabei neben der konkreten Erarbeitung von nachhaltigen Umsetzungsstrategien insbesondere in der Etablierung einer langfristigen grenzüberschreitenden Kooperationspartnerschaft auf verschiedenen Ebenen (Wissenschaft, Tourismus, Forstwirtschaft, Medizin) sowie der zeitgleichen Entwicklung eines regionsspezifischen Stärke- & Forschungsfeldes „Wald, Tourismus & Gesundheit“, das die Grundlage für eine weitere thematische Vernetzung als auch für wichtige Folgeprojekte bildet.

Expected Results (DE): EI 7 - Kooperationsintensität - gemessen am Anteil derjenigen, die grenzüberschreitende Kooperationen als zumindest überdurchschnittlich bewerten (in % der gesamten Bewertung)

Expected Outputs (DE): Durch eine grenzübergreifende Vernetzung dreier Bundesländer und der darin beteiligten Projektpartner sowie deren Stakeholder und ihr Umfeld wird die Kooperationsintensität im Projektgebiet auf verschiedenen Ebenen langfristig und nachhaltig gesteigert.
