Description (EN):

To enlarge the knowledge of each other's country and of a region in a cross-border area, it may be necessary but not enough to browse tourist guides and brochures, making trips or visit the popular sights on the other side of the border: history, heritage and cultural values lie in customs and traditions living in people's everyday life that needs to be known and preserved. It starts from the early age to make children be aware of their own cultural identity and learn to respect the diversity between other cultures; and this is the aspect the three schools - methodologically supported by the regional development agency - acting as Beneficiaries of this project recognised educational institutions are required to support: fulfilling a more important, initiative and active role in helping children know more about their own culture while exploring diversities and exploiting similarities with cultures existing on the other side of the border. Children and students are representing "the generation which is open to cross-cultural knowledge the most since they must have the least historical wounds and prejudice on other cultures. Within this project the partnership is committed to enlarge the specific local cultural knowledge of the HU-HR border region by offering extracurricular activities for students in the field of dance and music art, science and sport. The Beneficiaries, however, are not only committed to fulfil their duties in teaching students about cultural values; but to work as transfer institutions of a long-term cross-border educational co-operation to establish positive attitude in children towards each other's tradition and raise their curiosity to know, and learn and show about it more. With this scope of co-operation the project will make its contribution to Specific Objective 4.1 of the programme - Improve the role of educational institutions as intellectual centres for increasing the specific knowledge base in the region; and fits to Component 2 " "Co-operation in preschool, primary and secondary education and adult education. The project will be implemented in the area of Csurgó, Nagybajom (HU side) and Koprivnica (CRO side), in duration of 16months. Children, students and teachers will be targeted to get involved with interactions between their cross-border neighbours and encouraged to participate in „learning by doing” activities that partner organisations will offer. The project primarily will contribute to achieving awareness of common natural and cultural values of the border region among students by implementing the following activities: DANCE activities - traditional HU and CRO dances will be learnt jointly; MUSIC ART AND TALENT activities - traditional HU and CRO songs will be learnt jointly; SCIENCE activities - scientific ideas and experiments will be shared; SPORT activities - new joint training methods will be introduced; SPECIAL TRAINING activities - special knowledge on regional development will be taught. " "The project is expected to bring benefits to students of all three schools since: 1) platforms of extracurricular activities will be offered in various fields to address the needs of students to enlarge their knowledge. 2) specific local and cross-cultural knowledge about traditional values of each other's country will be gained that can be shared and connected. 3) new content of knowledge will be gained through ""learning by doing"" since students are to be actively involved in getting to know the traditions and customs of the other side. 4) cross-border friendships and partnerships can be built through the platforms. 5) they will get familiar with new ICT solutions (video conference) 6) they will improve their physical, mental, emotional conditions. This project is expected to dispatch a new level of co-operation between educational institutions to share knowledge and best practices while increasing attendance in joint cross-border events to be organised on both sides.

Achievements (EN):

The project objective was the improvement of students’ and professors’ competences and exchanging knowledge with colleagues from cross-border areas in the fields of science, sports, music and dance. The project activities were the following: development of joint sport program in handball, organization of common video conferences on music, dance, science and sport, organization of joint competitions, sports events, dance camps and days for science, organization of two joint three-day workshops on regional development and project cycle management, and creation of joint trilingual brochure for potential students in cross border area.
