Strategies for the internationalisation of cultural and creative industries in cross-border territories of Spain and Portugal

Objectives: The overall objective of the project is to promote the competitiveness of Cultural and Creative Industries (ICCs) through the promotion of business cooperation and the implementation of new models, digital tools and strategies for the sector, in particular with a view to their internationalisation. Thanks to its awareness, training and support activities, the project aims to be a starting point for the generation of collaborations between Spanish and Portuguese companies, as well as the interlocution with agents of the sector. In particular, IberICC Global aims to promote the encounter and establishment of collaboration agreements and projects of co-production, transmedia or joint distribution. The specific objectives of the project aim to address some of the main challenges for the sector’s CCIs and seize opportunities. It also aims to improve conditions and provide the necessary knowledge and resources so that participating companies can set realistic objectives and activities to start their internationalisation processes, within mentored strategies, despite the generally very small size of their size. In this sense, and in line with their needs, the project aims not only to raise awareness and train professionals in the sector, but also to accompany them throughout the process. From a quantitative perspective, IberICC Global sets realistic objectives, with direct initial support to some 160 companies (an average of 20 per partner) in the training and preparation phase for internationalisation. In the same way and on this basis, it is expected that 120 will complete the development of a complete strategic plan (15 per partner, 75 %), and that 96 of these plans can be evaluated positively (80 %, 12 per partner). This group of about a hundred companies will participate in meetings in order to create consortia or co-production projects. Again, the objectives in this case are prudent and realistic (8 cross-border agreements generated). For its part, within the period of implementation of the project, it is expected that the number of companies that can register and benefit from the services of the online platform will be approximately 640 (an average of 80 companies per partner). Activities: Each proposed Activity responds to a need of the sector and has specific objectives that will allow progress progressively towards the internationalisation of the ICCs of the territory, namely: — Identify and select companies. — Classify them and identify their potential for cross-border cooperation. — Identify obstacles and barriers that hinder the processes of international cultural co-productions. — Prepare and accompany ICCs for international business cooperation processes applicable to the sector. — Facilitate the meeting and exchange between companies with a view to exploring cooperation, co-production and/or international distribution agreements. — Give more visibility to the sector. — Help companies to advance in the technical, legal, economic-financial and commercial preparation of cooperation agreements. — Favor their presence in international markets. — Establish cross-border strategies by key strategic subsectors. In particular, the following shall be: 1 Identification, matchmaking and selection of ICCs for business cooperation. 2 Preparation of ICCs for business cooperation. 3 Business Meetings. 4 Support for the creation and dissemination of co-productions. 5 Management and Coordination. 6 Communication. Results: Among the main results, some 160 companies will receive information, training, advice and accompanying services that will improve their competitiveness, their ability to internationalise and their ability to establish business cooperation relationships, both for production and distribution processes. In this context, about 120 companies are expected to produce a strategic internationalisation plan, with the aim of achieving greater presence in new markets and, consequently, higher volumes of exports. All this will result in a further consolidation of economic activity and the promotion of new activities to strengthen the competitive positioning of the Area of Cooperation.

Objetivos: El objetivo general del proyecto consiste en promover la competitividad de las Industrias Culturales y Creativas (ICCs) a través de la promoción de la cooperación empresarial y de la implementación de nuevos modelos, herramientas digitales y estrategias para el sector, en particular de cara a su internacionalización. Gracias a sus actividades de sensibilización, formación y acompañamiento, el proyecto pretende ser un punto de partida para la generación de colaboraciones entre compañías españolas y portuguesas, así como la interlocución con agentes del sector. En particular, IberICC Global pretende favorecer el encuentro y establecimiento de acuerdos de colaboración y proyectos de coproducción, transmedia y/o distribución conjunta. Los objetivos específicos del proyecto pretenden abordar algunos de los principales retos para las ICCs del sector y aprovechar las oportunidades. Pretende asimismo mejorar las condiciones y aportar los conocimientos y recursos necesarios para que las empresas participantes puedan plantearse objetivos y actividades realistas para iniciar sus procesos de internacionalización, dentro de estrategias tutorizadas, a pesar de la dimensión por lo general muy reducida de su tamaño. En este sentido, y en línea con sus necesidades, el proyecto pretende no solamente sensibilizar y formar a los profesionales del sector, sino también acompañarles en todo el proceso. Desde la perspectiva cuantitativa, IberICC Global plantea unos objetivos realistas, con el apoyo inicial directo a unas 160 empresas (una media de 20 por socio) en la fase de formación y preparación para la internacionalización. Del mismo modo y sobre esta base, se prevé que 120 finalicen la elaboración de un plan estratégico completo (15 por socio, un 75%), y que 96 de estos planes puedan evaluarse positivamente (un 80%, 12 por socio). Ese grupo de cerca de un centenar de empresas será el que participe en encuentros con el fin de crear consorcios o proyectos de coproducciones. Nuevamente, los objetivos en este caso son prudentes y realistas (8 acuerdos transfronterizos generados). Por su parte, dentro del periodo de implementación del proyecto, se prevé que el número de empresas que puedan registrarse y beneficiar de los servicios de la plataforma online sea de aproximadamente 640 (una media de 80 empresas por socio). Actividades: Cada Actividad propuesta responde a una necesidad del sector y tiene unos objetivos específicos que permitirán avanzar progresivamente hacía la internacionalización de las ICCs del territorio, a saber: - Identificar y seleccionar las empresas. - Clasificarlas e identificar su potencial de cara a la cooperación transfronteriza. - Identificar obstáculos y barreras que dificultan los procesos de coproducciones culturales internacionales. - Preparar y acompañar a las ICCs para procesos de cooperación empresarial internacional aplicables al sector. - Facilitar el encuentro e intercambio entre empresas de cara a la exploración de acuerdos de cooperación, coproducción y/o distribución internacional. - Darle mayor visibilidad al sector. - Ayudar a las empresas a avanzar en la preparación técnica, jurídica, económico-financiera y comercial de acuerdos de cooperación. - Favorecer su presencia en los mercados internacionales. - Establecer estrategias transfronterizas por subsectores estratégicos claves. Concretamente, se ralizará: 1 Identificación, matchmaking y selección de las ICCs de cara a la cooperación empresarial. 2 Preparación de las ICCs de cara a la cooperación empresarial. 3 Encuentros Empresariales. 4 Apoyo a la creación y difusión de coproducciones. 5 Gestión y Coordinación. 6 Comunicación. Resultados: Entre los principales resultados, unas 160 empresas recibirán información, formación, asesoramiento y servicios de acompañamiento que mejorarán su competitividad, su capacidad de internacionalización y su capacidad de establecer relaciones de cooperación empresarial, tanto para procesos de producción como de distribución. En este marco, se prevé que cerca unas 120 empresas produzcan un plan de estratégico de internacionalización, con el fin de lograr mayor presencia en nuevos mercados y, por consiguiente, mayores volúmenes de exportaciones. Todo ello redundará en una mayor consolidación de la actividad económica y en el fomento de nuevas actividades que permitan reforzar el posicionamiento competitivo del Espacio de Cooperación.
