Description (EN):

MeDInno project focuses on the ruminant farming and agri-food micro & small enterprises, through the development of innovative processes and products based in local dairy and meat tradition of the Programme area, in order to decrease the rural unemployment and poverty. Thanks to MeDInno project, new cheese and meat products will be developed through the knowledge transfer and the quality standardization and the promotion under an integrated brand strategy. The project will also implement two day trips for 5 top chefs to get familiar with the new products in combination with workshops for local chefs (one in Epirus and one in Puglia Region), five special presentation events in Foggia, Barletta, Bari, Lecce and Taranto and a series of local training seminars and workshops targeting at local stakeholders and farmers in the two regions.

Achievements (EN):

The project’s added value derives from:(1) the innovative and sustainable character of the project idea itself;(2) the high stakeholder involvement: Producers, producer groups, processors, purchasers, exporters, certification agencies and research and development agencies;(3) the multilevel partnership scheme involving regional authorities (Region of Epirus/ LB and Union of Provinces of Puglia), farmers' organisations (Association of Transhumance Stockbreeders of Epirus, Confederation for Italian Farmers of Bari) and chambers of commerce (Chamber of Commerce of Foggia and Greek-Italian Chamber of Commerce of Thessaloniki/AB) with a wide territorial impact, ensuring the valorisation and transferability of project..

Delivered Outputs (EN):

New cheese and meat products and development of an integrated brand strategy for the new products;2. Two standardisation and certification guidelines;3. 50 participants in transnational focus groups and 150 participants attending the project's final public event/conference;4. 120 producers, processors and other professionals attending a series of training programs and five trainers with upgraded skills;5. A cluster development framework
