Within the project Zemgale Planning Region produced the brochure (digital version) with new joint tourism route “Discover GEO Destinations” about Geological and Geomorphological tourist attractions in Zemgale and Norther Lithuania with the aim to create cognitive virtual reality on the processes of how geological and geomorphological objects have been created.
Within the project Žagarė Regional Park produced the video-clip “Geological and Geomorphological tourism objects in Lithuania”.
The video clip takes us to Northern Lithuania, where impressive natural treasures are hidden in the unremarkable nature. Here we can find dolomite layers, boulders, outcrops, springs, caves, many pits and sinkholes hidden under our feet. When we mention the name of Biržai, the question arises: what can be seen in this land of plains and intensive agriculture? However, there are so many mysterious floating sinkholes, which appeared due to the activity of melted glacier. This determined the expressiveness of the terrain. One of the most interesting geological and geomorphological objects to visit in Biržai region are Cow’s sinkhole and Kirkilai karst lakes. We move from Biržai region to Žiemgala plain. Although Žiemgala plain forms a rather barren, flat landscape, it differs from the surrounding areas, as it is also slightly undulating. One of the most interesting object in this region is Žagarė outcrop, where you can see dolomites formed almost 360 million years ago. Another impressive object in the territory of Žagarė regional park is Žagarė esker – long, narrow hill formed from sand and gravel. In the video clip geological and geomorphological objects in Šiauliai and Panevėžys regions are revealed – outcrops, boulders, eskers, springs, sinkholes dating back hundreds, thousands or even millions of years. Each of them is interesting in its own story, unique appearance or the legend that is told about it.
Biržai Regional Park created the Book/photo album „Karst processes in Lithuania. Biržai Region“. The book is representing the situation about karst processes in Lithuania. The book/photo album was created to improve acknowledge about karst processes and to attract visitors to the area of Biržai regional park and its surroundings.
Within the project Žagare Regional Park created a Concept for organizing and adapting for visitors in Zagare regional park:
A023_Zagare_Koncepcija_Suvvestine-samata
A023_Zagare_Koncepcija_T2_Priedai
Preparation of a concept for the arrangement and adaptation of geological natural heritage objects to visitors in Žagarė Regional Park. While preparing the concept, the team of architects first prepared a study: they evaluated the objects suitable for visiting located in Žagarė Regional Park – they reviewed the protected areas of Northern Lithuania and Southern Latvia, existing cycling routes, visited objects and their geography, performed an analysis of the needs of visitors of Žagarė Regional Park, and an assessment of the existing infrastructure. After analyzing the situation, the architects proposed various possible options for adapting Žagarė esker and dolomite outcrop to visitors. After choosing one option proposed by the architects, these suggestions were developed, described, drawings and schemes were presented in the concept, as well as a list of objects to be installed and visualizations. The concept prepared for the arrangement and adaptation of geological natural heritage objects to visitors in Žagarė Regional Park is planned to be implemented by submitting applications to various funds. It is very important that when implementing the concept solutions, united approach will be followed.
