Description (EN):

The Interreg IT-HR 2014-2020 Programme developed several projects dealing with freight transport, four of them focusing on ICT applied to maritime and multimodal transport, from different perspectives. PROMARES assessed the use of ICT solutions in the port-hinterland domain. INTESA focused on the port-sea relation, with the goal of harmonizing and optimizing the procedures of the maritime transport processes. DigLogs looked into improving information flows of transport processes on freight movements, status and authorizations. TRANSPOGOOD developed an innovative ICT tool to find the best solution of transport services (e.g., best price of combined transport), DIGSEA clusters the technical knowledge developed by these projects and consolidates it in a single sea-port-hinterland-logistics approach, covering the whole supply chain. This way, the experiences and expertise of the current programming period will serve as a basis for the new one, ensuring their long-term sustainability and replicability. Also, they will be transferred to stakeholders and policy makers at EU and transnational level, to engage them and raise the awareness of the use of ICT as a powerful and efficient tool to improve the efficiency and consequently the environmental performance of ports and the whole supply chain.

Expected Results (EN):

The main result achieved by DIGSEA will be the maximisation of the results of projects co-funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia 2014-2020 Programme on ICT applied to maritime and multimodal freight transport, contributing to the 2021-2027 Programming Period and their transfer to transnational level.In particular, DIGSEA will result in: Consolidated technical knowledge on ICT applied to multimodal freight transport covering the whole supply chain – sea-port-hinterland-logistics – and transport planning competences transferred to the whole maritime and multimodal freight transport community, in order to make them more efficient and environmentally sustainable; Contribution to SO 3.2 "Developing and enhancing sustainable, climate resilient, intelligent and intermodal national, regional and local mobility, including improved access to TEN-T and cross border mobility" in the next programming period.Transfer of such knowledge at regional, national and transnational level, to the maritime and multimodal transport community, other EU Programmes and EUSAIR.Ultimately, by increasing the knowledge on how to enhance the competitiveness and productivity of maritime and multimodal freight transport, DIGSEA will result in an increase of goods transported by sea and rail in the Programme Area and at the same time in an improvement of the environmental performance of ports and multimodal transport.

Expected Outputs (EN):

Project outputs and results will be directly transferable to and replicable by other ports and intermodal logistic nodes also outside the Programme Area, since they contain measures that would tackle the same problem – i.e. how to make maritime and multimodal transport more efficient through the application of ICTs – which is common with any other port or railroad terminal.Also, transferability will be ensured by sharing outputs and results through the dedicated communication and dissemination activities, such as the digital activities and the participation at EU-relevant events such as the Transport Logistics Fair in Munich, EUSAIR Annual Forum, ITS World Congress or EU Maritime Days.
