FishMPABlue2 a été un projet réussi: 11 AMP pilotes de 6 pays Med ont réussi à tester 13 mesures de gouvernance et de gestion pour améliorer la durabilité socio-économique et environnementale de la pêche artisanale, et les impacts réels de ces tests ont été mesurés à travers 2 campagnes de suivi, menées avant et après la mise en œuvre des mesures de gestion. Par conséquent, le «SSF Governance Toolkit» n'est pas seulement une contribution théorique mais un manuel opérationnel, qui décrit les avantages et les limites réels de chaque mesure et fournit également un «degré de faisabilité» - en termes de temps, de ressources humaines et financières. Le Toolkit a déjà été transférée pendant FishMPABlue2 à 9 autres AMP, qui ont également été formées aux techniques de suivi socio-économique et environnemental.Par conséquent, dans le projet actuel, le transfert se fera principalement avec la même stratégie, - de nature différente, impliquant en tant qu'associés 11 nouvelles AMP de 5 pays- et où tous les PP sont des véritables formateurs et coachs des AMP nationales concernées.À la fin du projet, il y aura plus de 30 AMP Med appliquant la même approche liée à la gouvernance - c'est-à-dire une approche axée sur la cogestion - et des mesures de gestion similaires déjà testées et affinées. Enfin, ils amélioreront leurs capacités de suivi. Cela constituera une «communauté» solide pour plaider en faveur d'une gouvernance SSF basée sur la cogestion envers le CE - DG MARE.

FishMPABlue2 was a successful project: 11 pilot MPAs from 6 Med countries succeeded in testing 13 actual governance and management-related measures for improving socio-economic-environmental sustainability of the Small-Scale Fisheries within and around an MPA, and actual impacts of such testing were measured through 2 monitoring campaigns, carried out “before” and “after” the implementation of the management measures. Therefore “SSF Governance Toolkit” is not just a theoretical contribution but an operational manual, which describes the actual pros and limits of each measure and also provide a “feasibility degree” – in terms of time, human and financial resources - for each of them. Toolkit was already transferred during FishMPABlue2 to other 9 MPAs, that were also trained on the socio-economic-environmental monitoring techniques.Therefore, in the current project, transferring will be carried out mainly applying the same strategy, involving, as Associated partners, 11 new MPAs from 5 countries- and where all the PPs are actual trainers and coachers of the concerned domestic MPAs.At the end of the project there will be more than 30 Med MPAs applying same governance-related approach – i.e. a co-management-driven one – and similar management measures already tested and further fine-tuned. Last but not least, they will improve their monitoring capacities. This will constitute a solid “community” to advocate co-management-based SSF governance towards EC - DG MARE.

Achievements (EN):

FishMPABlue2 PLUS has as main goal to disseminate the two key outputs of the previous FishMPABlue2 project: the "SSF Governance Toolkit" and an integrated system to assess the socio-ecological effectiveness of small scale fisheries management in MPAs for monitoring their socio-economic-environmental sustainability. 11 MPAs have accepted to be trained and supported in identifying the most suitable management measures from the Toolkit to be applied in their context, and the first step is to set up a SSF-related "Local Governance Cluster" where the MPA managing body involves the local small-scale fishers and other related stakeholders. In almost all the 11 pilot MPAs we managed to establish the LGC, that was fully trained on the SSF Governance Toolkit and started to discuss in depth on the measures that can better fit for their aims. Of course the need of slight modifications of the selected measures, in order to adapt them to the specific context, will be taken into account.In the meantime the project has been showcased in important fora (the most important one has been the "MPA Forum for the 2030 Roadmap", November 2021 in Monaco) and is preparing the activities of the second semester, in primis the Summer School on the socio-economic-environmental sustainability monitoring techniques and the press trip.
