Project end date: 2026-03-31
Project status: ongoing
Relevant linked projects:
- Rehabilitation of the old ecological burden in the area of the former Kovoplast company and the neighbouring inner city of Novy Bydzov (EN) | PP4 succeeded with a request for support from EU fund Operation Programme to realise the project Rehabilitation of the old ecological burden in the area of the former Kovoplast company (2020-2023). The cleaning of the polluted aquifer will increase the possibilities of future use of so far unusable groundwater and increase the resilience of the city to climate change. PP4 will use MAURICE project results in the other EU-supported project, therefore good synergy is expected with no overlapping. (EN), CC - ISAP (BMBF-Project, Federal Ministry of Education and Research) (EN) | Providing strong synergies by ISAP-Project's complementary function of generating scaled and CC-related meteorological data. The results of the ISAP-project will provide methodological input to A1.3 as well as specific data and experiences for A2.2. There will be effective synergy with no overlapping, as PP3 will use the climate change data from ISAP project as an input for numerical modelling of the pilot area planned in MAURICE. (EN), Project Areté (ETVilloresi, Fondazione Cariplo) (EN) | The project aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices in the area of Italian Pilot Action (A2.3). The irrigation network has been valorised aiming to improve water distribution and faunistic conservation. The experience coming from Project Areté will be used to design and perform effective field tests of adaptation measures in MAURICE (A2.1, A2.3), therefore effective synergy is expected with no overlapping. Contribution to wider strategies and policies:
- EuropeanGreenDeal MAURICE project will contribute to EU Green Deal by addressing an existential threat to Europe, which is climate change and environmental degradation. MAURICE will propose solutions and mitigation strategy to overcome these challenges. MAURICE will support Central Europe urban areas to be more resilient to climate change in the aspect of water resources management.
- TerritorialAgenda2030 MAURICE will contribute to “A Green Europe” priority in the aspect of “Healthy environment” by proposing local and regional action plans and joint strategy for increasing their resilience to climate change in the context of water resources management.MAURICE will support “A Green Europe” by indicating possible mitigating and adaptive actions to prevent the impact of climate change in Central Europe urban areas.
- EUStrategyDanubeRegion Partners from DE, CZ, SI, HR will contribute to priority area (PA) “Environmental Risks” by addressing the challenges of water scarcity and droughts in line with the Danube River Basin Management Plan as well as elaborating the climate adaptation strategy. MAURICE also will address the PA “Water Quality” in the context of achieving the management objectives set out in the Danube River Basin Management Plan.
- EUStrategyAdriaticIonianRegion Partners from HR, SI, IT will contribute to “Environmental Quality”pillar by addressing threats to terrestrial biodiversity in the context of climate change and its impact on the urban area of EUSAIR.
- EUStrategyBalticSeaRegion Partners from PL and DE will contribute to policy area “Spatial Planning” aiming at achieving territorial cohesion perspective in the Baltic Sea Region by 2030. A well-integrated and coherent approach of MAURICE will struggle with the global challenges and will address the solutions preventing the impact of climate change in the urban area of EUSBSR.
- EUStrategyAlpineRegion Pilot action in DE, IT and SI will contribute to EUSALP objective 3 “Ensuring sustainability in the Alps”, especially in policy area: “Alpine risk management including risk dialogue, to tackle potential threats, such as those of climate change”. An integrated, joint-developed and innovative urban water resources management approach based on the relevant cooperation between partners within MAUIRCE will be a substantial support to tackle with the impacts of climate change in urban areas in EUSALP.
