The digital transformation of SMEs is central to their strategic autonomy and economic and industrial development. However, in a context characterised by the fight against climate change, it is necessary to be able to introduce and manage digital technologies in a balanced manner, taking advantage of the solutions they provide for energy efficiency. However, it is also important to avoid excessive use of these technologies, which would lead to a sharp increase in greenhouse gas emissions as the company develops. In the Upper Rhine, however, companies face difficulties in finding skilled workers to support them in their development, especially when it comes to combining environmental, digital and international skills. The solution proposed by the three universities, which are partners of the project, envisages the establishment of a joint master’s programme that will enable qualified students to strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs and support them in adapting to environmental and societal changes and the sustainable digital transition. The first year of the project will be dedicated to the preparation of the educational offer. The pilot phase of the course of study with the first year of students will begin in September 2024.
