Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

  • MSP is an enabler of the European Green Deal. Among others, it aims to develop a sustainable blue economy, protecting biodiversity in the marine space and to facilitate clean and secure energy. Norsaic will work along the lines of the Green Deal by improving cooperation governance.
  • The IMP and its aim to foster sustainable development of all sea-based activities has highlighted the urgent need for Ocean management. Norsaic will strongly contribute the IMP goals by improving adaption in plans and processes, innovation for next level planning and cooperation between all relevant stakeholders.
  • The long-term plan of the Biodiversity strategy to protect nature and reverse the degradation of ecosystems. It is very much in line with the aims of MSP. Facing climate change, Norsaic will contribute to achieve these goals by establishing a framework that will help to manage our seas coherent and more sustainable
  • Norsaic will adapt current MSP processes and plans to contribute towards a healthy and sustainable North Sea and is therefore very much contribution the aim of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive to protect the marine environment across Europe.
  • In the North Sea Region 2030 Strategy, regional authorities have jointly defined the most pressing topics where there is an added value in transnational cooperation and action. One of these topics is MSP. Norsaic will strongly cooperate with (regional) governments around the NSR. Challenges in MSP will be jointly tacked to achieve the goals of the strategy, incl. sharing good practices, raising awareness, contributing to policy development and cooperating with others on multi-governance levels.
