Renovation of the public water supply system of Hariduse street in Rõuge borough

The challenge of the programme area you are tackling in your project: The township of Rõuge is located almost entirely in the Haanja Nature Park, therefore the amortization or absence of public water and sewage systems negatively affects the ecological condition of the Rõuge lakes and Sandisuu stream. The conservation management plan of the Haanja Nature Park also points out point pollution objects, their location on the slope or the load emanating from them as one of the danger factors for the lakes, which is why the correct construction of common sewerage is urgently needed to preserve natural values.   Project main objective: Increasing environmental protection and reducing environmental pollution in the program area by improving the water quality of 5 lakes and Sandisuu stream in the Rõuge borough. Specific objective: The living environment of the Rõuge borough 402 residents has improved. As a result of the project, the amortized public water supply lines in the built-up part of Rõuge borough´s Hariduse street will be reconstructed, sewage facilities will be built, and the system will be brought into compliance with modern requirements. The residents of the border area are guaranteed proper drinking water and wastewater disposal and treatment in the wastewater collection area. Project main outputs: 432 meters of drinking water pipelines have been renovated.  Constructed in 811 m of new wastewater pipelines.  The program supports improving the quality of water bodies.  Rõuge borough has a total of 402 inhabitants according to the data of 01.01.2023, but more in the summer period, so there are 450 indirect beneficiaries through the improved natural environment. Renovation works affect approx. 20 landowners, of which 15 landowners with existing buildings and fixed residences benefit the most. 30 village residents living on Hariduse street who will benefit directly. Seminar about environmental protection of water bodies. Rouge residents' (402) environmental awareness has increased. The main activities: 432 meters of drinking water pipelines will be reconstructed and 811 new sewage pipes will be built in the area of ​​builtup private households Hariduse street, Rõuge borough. The pavement of the Hariduse street road will be restored after the construction works. Environmental conditions will be improved through the improvement of the water quality of the Rõuge lakes and Sandisuu stream and the targeted use of drinking water. With the construction of new water pipelines, it is possible to avoid wasting clean drinking water, measure flow rates in pipeline sections, shut off the flow and, if necessary, redirect it. With the construction of the sewage line, 12 households will be able to give up sewage tanks and join the common sewerage system, which will reduce the risk of sewage getting into nature and harming human health. A 2 hour seminar on environmental protection of water bodies will be held. Topic of the seminar: Assessment of the condition of water bodies and possibilities for improvement. How does wastewater affect the flora and fauna of our water bodies? What can we do to protect water bodies? Participants: landowners of the area affected by the construction and residents of Rõuge borough, environmental protection enthusiasts.
