Contribution to wider strategies and policies:
- EUStrategyDanubeRegion A sustainable and decarbonised energy sector is a key pillar of the prosperous future of the Danube Region in its social, environmental and economic cohesion. All actions of the project underpin this goal and are fully in line withe actions of the revised Action Plan. The objectives and actions of PA2 aim to secure the energy needs of the region in an efficient and sustainable way, to enhance the use of renewable energy sources, to contribute to the decarbonisation of the region and to increase energy efficiency. Moreover they enhance local low-carbon energy actions, tackle energy poverty, and introduce new innovative solutions to transform the energy sector. These are all in line with the objectives of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
- EuropeanGreenDeal The Eurpean Green Deal is an ambitious package of measures ranging from cutting greenhouse gas emissions, to investing in cutting-edge research and innovation to preserving Europe’s natural environment. A greener, lower-carbon Europe is in the core of these ambitions. PA2 activities are all in line with these global ambitions and cover a wide range of activities that combat climate change by fostering the decarbonisation of the energy sectors, promote low-carbon energy actions at local scales and introduce smart, low-carbon solutions fitting the geographical, geopolitical facilities of the region.
- Other Energy Union, Clean energy for all Europeans package (with REDII, and Energy Efficiency Directives), more recently Fit for 55, REPowerEU. All these strategies underpin the basic messages of giving EU consumers - households and businesses - secure, sustainable, competitive and affordable energy. PA2 activities address 3 dimensions out of the 5 of the Strategy: the dimensions of energy security, energy efficiency and decarbonisation of the economy.
