Due to demographic change, the number of people with hearing loss will increase significantly in the coming years. Hearing loss – especially in the elderly – can have serious consequences for health and quality of life. In order to counteract this, effective hearing care is required. Schleswig-Holstein and Southern Denmark have worldwide recognised expertise in this field. The aim of the Habelt network project is to pool these competencies and establish a long-term cooperation between the University of Southern Denmark, the German Hearing Aid Institute and the Lübeck University of Technology. The collaboration will begin with the development of an innovative concept for a hearing aid demonstrator that will help potential users to demonstrate the expected benefits of hearing aid adaptation in a simple and effective way. The expected results will form the basis for future activities with clinical partners recruiting on both sides of the border. This will strengthen hearing care in the region. RESULTS/OBJECTIVES: We expect in the course of the network project: establishing cross-border cooperation in the field of hearing aid acoustics and audiology; the recruitment of some German and Danish network partners; the development and evaluation of a prototype for a hearing aid demonstrator.

Aufgrund des demografischen Wandels wird die Zahl der Menschen mit Hörverlust in den kommenden Jahren deutlich zunehmen. Ein Hörverlust kann – insbesondere bei älteren Menschen – schwerwiegende Folgen für die Gesundheit und die Lebensqualität haben. Um dem entgegenzuwirken, ist eine wirksame Hörvorsorge erforderlich. Schleswig-Holstein und Süddänemark verfügen über eine weltweit anerkannte Expertise auf diesem Gebiet. Zielsetzung des Netzwerkprojekts HABelt ist es, diese Kompetenzen zu bündeln und eine langfristige Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Universität Süddänemark, dem Deutschen Hörgeräte Institut und der Technischen Hochschule Lübeck aufzubauen. Die Zusammenarbeit wird mit der Entwicklung eines innovativen Konzepts für einen Hörgerätedemonstrator beginnen, mit den potenziellen Anwendern der zu erwartende Nutzen einer Hörgeräteanpassung auf einfache und wirksame Weise verdeutlicht werden kann. Die erwarteten Ergebnisse werden die Grundlage für künftige Aktivitäten mit klinischen, auf beiden Seiten der Grenze zu rekrutierenden Partnern bilden. Dies wird die Hörvorsorge in der Region stärken. RESULTATE / ZIELE: Wir erwarten im Verlauf des Netzwerkprojekts: den Aufbau einer grenzüberschreitenden Zusammenarbeit im Bereich der Hörgeräteakustik und Audiologie; die Rekrutierung einiger deutscher und dänischer Netzwerkpartner; die Entwicklung und Evaluierung eines Prototyps für einen Hörgerätedemonstrator.
