Description (EN):

Overall objective: To improve policies and practices of water protection and management through improved enforcement of wastewater standards. Specific objective(s): - Dialogue, policy co-operation and capacity building through partnerships between citizens, CSOs and public in support to Clean Water Resources in Gjakove/Đakovica and Kukes promoted; - The percentage of population not connected to sewage and waste-water systems reduced; - Management of Natural Water Resources through improvements in River Bank infrastructure improved; - Awareness and capacities of relevant stakeholders including decision makers, utility companies, SMEs, CSOs and citizens raised; Target groups: - Municipality of Gjakove/Đakovica and Kukes Region; - Public utility companies, local businesses in the CB regions respectively: CSOs, Local Communities, Other Municipalities, Respective Ministries, Donor/Development organizations; Final Beneficiaries: - Municipality of Gjakove/Đakovica and Kukes Region; - Public utility companies, local businesses in the CB regions respectively: CSOs, Local Communities, Other Municipalities, Respective Ministries, Donor/Development organizations; Summary of the planned activities: A1.1 Functionalizing /Establishing multi-sector Regional Water Boards; A1.2 Public Consultations with citizens and business on Water planning and management; A1.3 Development of Water Management Plans for Kukes and Gjakove/Đakovica; A1.4 Monitoring water pollution levels in Gjakova/Đakovica and Kukes; A1.5 Mapping of solids pollution in rivers of Kukes and Gjakova/Đakovica; A2.1 Public work contract (to be managed as per PRAG Rules and Guidelines) for construction of 500 m wastewater system in LLukac; A2.2 Public work contract (to be managed as per PRAG Rules and Guidelines) for construction of main collector of Kukes; A2.3 Handover procedures and technical acceptance of infrastructure projects and maintenance; A3.1 Public works contract (to be managed as per PRAG Rules and Guidelines) for construction of 500 m of LLukac River bank in Llukac (Gjakova/Đakovica); A3.2 Handover procedures and technical acceptance of infrastructure projects and maintenance; A4.1 Annual Thematic Campaigns for Improved public awareness on protection of water resources; A4.2 CSO and SME Competitions promoting sustainable water management measures;

Expected Results (EN):

Estimated results: ER 1.1: Water Management Plans developed for Kukes and Gjakove/Đakovica respectively in line with EU standards; ER 1.2:Water pollution levels measured more regularly and accurately; ER 1.3: Citizens engaged in Water Policy Planning and Implementation; ER 1.4: Solid polluters' map for the rivers of the two municipalities developed; ER 2.1: 500 m of Wastewater system in Llukac, Gjakova/Đakovica installed; ER 2.2: Main Wastewater Collector in Kukes constructed; ER 3.1: 500 m of Banks of LLukac River in Gjakova/Đakovica improved; ER 4.1: Capacities of municipal officials in planning and implementing water policies enhanced; ER 4.2: Capacities of public utility companies (water supply and wastewater) enhanced; ER 4.3: Capacities of CSOs and Environmental activists strengthened; ER 4.4: Awareness of SMEs and citizens raised; ER 4.5: Learning resources in local languages available
