The project gives response to the need to develop cross-border productive economic sectors of involved territories. Consolidating, strengthening & promoting common socio-cultural roots through recovery of traditional professions is an effective way to revitalise this sector. From this idea arises CRAFTLAB PLUS, a capitalisation action born from the project CRAFTLAB, funded under Interreg GR-IT 14- 20. The project aims to promote skills transferral in artisanship while strengthening craft industry & valorising cultural heritage through cross-border cooperation. 3 artisan sectors have been chosen as central topics for the project; ceramics, mosaics &textiles. CRAFTLAB PLUS pursues to raise its importance in economy & development of each participating region by boosting cultural cross-border cooperation. The project will produce 1 WP, capitalising results of the original project. Through diverse activities, combining theoretical & practical, partners will arrive at the main target, young unemployed and NEETs. These targets are especially relevant for the partnership as they constitute vulnerable groups needing access to quality training to increase their skills in participating territories. The focus will be to improve their entrepreneurial skills in artisan sector. However, the project will address also other targets; NGOs, interest groups, creative SMEs, experts, stakeholders, public authorities, training institutions & general public. The innovative dimension of CRAFTLAB PLUS is to create a common cross-border identity, transferred into a single tool for skills transferral. The plan is to unify cultural heritage, craft tradition & expression from all the project areas to transfer the knowledge to youth. This will be powerful to help artisan businesses prosper & continue to build synergies, bringing audience closer to traditional professions. Spreading project results outside the eligible area will allow presenting the methodology, expanding CRAFTLAB PLUS impact.

Actual Achievements (EN):

Through the implementation of targeted activities, CRAFTLAB PLUS has substantially improved the entrepreneurial skills of participants within the artisan sector. The project has actively engaged a diverse range of groups identified in the application form, including NGOs, interest groups, creative SMEs, experts, stakeholders, public authorities, training institutions, and the broader public. As the project coordinator, LP1 has organized regular partnership calls to ensure seamless collaboration and smooth implementation of project activities. Additionally, FPP has provided ongoing support to all partners, assisting them in the planning and execution of their individual project events. The partners themselves have also taken a proactive role, working closely with one another to ensure successful project outcomes. In this reporting period, we made significant progress across multiple key activities within CRAFTLAB PLUS. Highlights include: -Workshop: "First Steps in the Artisan Sector" (A.1.2) – a foundational workshop designed to introduce participants to the essentials of the artisan sector. -Workshop in Montenegro: "Crafts, from Tradition to Innovation" (Activity 1.3) – which focused on modernizing traditional crafts. -Local B2B Session in Puglia: "Insights on the Creative Business Market of Ceramics" (Activity 1.6) – an insightful session aimed at exploring opportunities within the ceramics market. Moreover, work on Activity 1.4: "Joint Cross-border Methodology on Artisanship Skills" is already well underway, with University of Molise and Municipality of Budva leading the development of a unified methodology. The first deliverables of this activity have already been produced, marking an important milestone in the project. These accomplishments not only align with CRAFTLAB PLUS's objectives but also underscore the added value of cross-border cooperation in the artisan sector. By fostering skill development, innovation, and collaboration across diverse regions and sectors, CRAFTLAB PLUS is setting a strong foundation for a vibrant, entrepreneurial artisan community.

HAMLET - Highlighting Artisanal Manufacturing, cuLture and Eco Tourism (EN) | HAMLET project, funded by Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro 2014-2020, addresses the valorisation of historical centres, villages and small towns through the sustainable development of the tourist and economic sectors, highlighting the environmental and cultural assets of the territories selected. By developing a common strategy for tourism management, the project aims to boost the cooperation and networking between Italy, Albania and Montenegro, bringing up to the same standard the level of products and services offered, reunited under a unique cross-border brand identity, able to identify Adriatic area peculiarities. At the same time, the introduction of the selected areas into the tourist circuit will boost the local economy, with positive effects on employment and will halt the current social impoverishment.
Increased knowledge and awareness of local heritage, the involvement of the community and public entities in tourism promotion, and the improvement of social inclusion and employment represent HAMLET's main results.
CRAFTLAB PLUS creates synergies with the HAMLET project through artisan promotion and subsequent impact in the touristic and cultural areas. For both projects the element of artisan valorisation is essential. CRAFTLAB PLUS Project aims to apply part of the methodologies developed under HAMLET to valorise the territories of IT, AL and MNE. MONET - culture in MOtion in Adriatic NETwork of Museums (EN) | The overall objective of the MONET project -funded by Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro 2014-2020- is the creation of a network model among museums in Albania, Montenegro, Apulia and Molise, according to a common methodology and with new services and tools. The aim of the project is the promotion of natural and cultural heritage through the valorisation of museums, in terms of management and services. Allowing museums to join a new cross-border dimension of management will improve the touristic and cultural offer and, consequently, visitor flows, producing tourist growth, as well as sustainable and economic development in the involved areas that have some different natural and cultural opportunities.
CRAFTLAB PLUS creates synergies with MONET as both projects aim to promote cultural heritage through a set of activities to boost the sustainable and economic development of the involved areas. CRAFTLAB PLUS will enhance the territories through the development of activities based on artisanship instead of doing so by museums’ management. The LP of CRAFTLAB PLUS, Fondazione Pino Pascali, has participated in this project as a project partner, together with UNIMOL. Both partners will be able to translate the knowledge developed in the scope of MONET to this new proposal, linking both projects and reutilising the best practices developed in the project. WOOL - Wool as Outstanding Opportunity for Leverage (EN) | WOOL Project (Interreg IPA ADRION 2014-2020) focuses on how to conserve wool as an important natural resource and to protect cultural heritage of traditional hand-made wool products by enhancing the regional cooperation and knowledge transfer and by promoting the common ADRION regional brand. The project will also set up a regional strategy for the use of wool-based resources, for the development of wool-based tourism products, and the promotion of regional WOOL brand.
Both WOOL and CRAFTLAB PLUS projects have in common the interest and willingness to promote the artisan sector, through diverse of their traditional crafts. CRAFTLAB PLUS pursues the valorisation of artisan and cultural heritage by the transmission of skills in the artisan sectors, specifically ceramics, mosaics and textiles. PIN - Pugliesi Innovativi (EN) | PIN Pugliesi Innovativi is the initiative through which the Puglia Region and the Regional Agency for Technology and Innovation support young people from Puglia in the implementation of business projects with non-repayable loans. It is financed by the POR Puglia FESR-FSE 2014-2020.
CRAFTLAB PLUS supports this initiative by the transferral of skills on artisanship and entrepreneurial mindset through the activities foreseen in the project. Estrazione dei Talenti - Selezione Team (EN) | The Estrazione dei Talenti initiative, supported by the Puglia Region through ARTI - Regional Agency for Technology and Innovation (POR Puglia FESR-FSE 2014-2020), finances personalized support and acceleration paths aimed at teams of aspiring innovative entrepreneurs within the priority areas of innovation indicated by the regional strategy for Research and Innovation.
CRAFTLAB PLUS aiming to upskill youngsters in artisanship supports this initiative by the Puglia Region. By boosting the artisan professions and bringing the sector closer to the new public, CRAFTLAB PLUS will generate new insights and innovation in youth business. (EN)

EUStrategyAdriaticIonianRegion The CRAFTLAB PLUS project contributes to the EUSAIR PILLAR 4. SUSTAINABLE TOURISM, as the proposal aims to develop new training solutions for enhancing tourist & cultural sectors in the South Adriatic Area.
The project is in line with the Flagship DES_AIR and CULTOURAIR. Through the development of methodologies, workshops, training and other activities, CRAFTLAB PLUS helps the development of cultural tourism and provides skills to the target groups.
For the DES_AIR flagship, the project foresees targeted training activities and practical workshops aiming to skill the target group in the artisanship and cultural sector. Through the activities foreseen, the youth & unemployed targets of the project, as well as the stakeholders will increase their competencies in the craft sector. These actions will also impact positively the tourism sector, as the craft sector is strongly linked to it.
For the CULTOURAIR flagship, CRAFTLAB PLUS will develop a joint methodology analysing the artistic and cultural characteristics of the peripheral areas of IT, AL and MNE. The tasks will produce a compilation of harmonized data, as well as joint solutions under the so-called Community Maps. This tool created will be applicable in the tourism sector of the territories joining the project. This harmonisation will lead to new business opportunities and connections.
To conclude, the CRAFTLAB PLUS project contributes to the overall goal of achieving sustainable and diversified tourism in the EUSAIR region.
Other CRAFTLAB PLUS creates also synergies with the Eruopean Green Deal Strategy. Tourism and culture are part of the European Green Deal, and the innovative solutions can help to relaunch the sector more sustainably. The CRAFTLAB PLUS project contributes to the European Green Deal by supporting the transition of the cultural sector towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly model. The project's joint methodology developed and CBT activities (B2B and seminars) aim to promote innovation in the craft sector, transitioning from old crafts to new models. Some of the topics developed during the activities are technologies, digitalisation, circular economy and the promotion of more balanced use of natural resources.
Moreover, the project promotes the development of diverse business ideas, fostering synergies between creative and cultural industries, artisans, artists and the local community. By doing so, the project aims to increase the value and preservation of cultural and natural heritage, which is essential for the long-term sustainability of the cultural industry.
The project's efforts to create a more sustainable and resilient cultural ecosystem align with the European Union's industrial strategy, which prioritizes the green and digital transformation of EU industries to increase their competitiveness and reduce their environmental impact. The co-creation process of transition pathways involving all stakeholders, including the tourism industry, is crucial to achieving the twin transition and accelerating the green and digital transformations in the EU.
Other The New European Agenda for Culture 2018, creates a framework for cooperation on culture at the EU level. These focus on the positive contribution that culture brings to Europe’s society, its economy and international relations. The Agenda also sets out enhanced working methods with Member States, civil society organisations and international partners.
The Agenda divides its impact into three dimensions; social, economic and external dimensions.
CRAFTLAB PLUS emphasizes the three dimensions of the Agenda 2018, by disseminating the power of culture and cultural diversity while supporting culture-based creativity in education and innovation and strengthening cross-border international cultural relations.
The project will boost the cooperation between countries and partners from different cultural realities but with common objectives.
Other The project is in line with the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of Montenegro by 2030 (NSSD). The National Strategy of Montenegro is an umbrella, horizontal and long-term development strategy that relates not only to the environment and economics but also to human resources and social capital that should ensure prosperous development. It highlights the relevance of contributing to sustainable growth in the economic sectors, including tourism and culture.
CRAFTLAB PLUS valorises the cultural sector by assuring the skills transferral in the artisan sector, while interchanging good practices and experiences through the project territories, having a subsequent impact on the economic growth of the territories.
Other CRAFTLAB PLUS follows also the Albanian National Strategy for Culture 2019-2025, approved in 2020 in line with the UNESCO Convention 2005 as well as with the New European Agenda for Culture 2018.
The national strategy has as its main mission the creation of a favourable environment for the growth and development of cultural and creative services and products in the public and private sectors. CRAFTLAB PLUS does so by transferring skills to experts and youngsters that will impact the cultural businesses affecting positively the sector. There is an increased emphasis on culture and art while promoting and disseminating the Albanian culture, together with the other territories’ culture and local arts.
Then, another strong point of the strategy is the necessity of valorising the heritage and the local artists and craft businesses, and this will be the main objective of all the activities taking place locally and cross-border.
Other The Strategic Plan for the Tourism Development of the Molise Region (Piano Strategico per lo Sviluppo del Turismo) is part of the synergies with the project. The Plan pursues covering the need of the Molise region, and providing the territories of the region with a strong touristic and cultural strategy aiming to boost both sectors while valorising the roots of the culture.
CRAFTLAB PLUS develops solutions for these necessities, by providing specific tools for strengthening cultural businesses, attracting tourists and reinforcing the tourism sector.
Other CRAFTLAB PLUS is in line with the Apulian Cultural Strategy (PiiilCulturainPugiia – Piano Strategico della Cultura della Regione Puglia 2017-2026), valorising the culture of the territory. Thanks to the project, the Italian artisan heritage (but also the Montenegrin and Albanese) will be enhanced. The project will give visibility to the artisan professions in each of the territories through joint activities.
The project also contributes to the achievement of the objectives of the Strategic Plan of the Culture of the Puglia Region 2017-2026. The Strategic Plan intends to protect, enhance and promote the identity of a territory, and therefore its culture (cultural heritage, cultural activities and live entertainment, audiovisual, creativity), in an increasingly innovative way, stimulating growth, employment, competitiveness, social and territorial cohesion. CRAFTLAB PLUS is totally in line with the premises of the Strategic Plan for Culture, as highlights the value of the culture of each of the territories forming the partnership on each of the activities foreseen.
Moreover, the PiiilCulturainPugiia – Strategic Plan of Culture of the Puglia Region 2017-2026 promotes the creation of strong partnerships, aimed at creating quality cultural and tourism products that will make up the offer of the Puglia portfolio becoming a tool for territorial inclusion and cohesion, and sustainable from an environmental, social and economic point of view.
CRAFTLAB PLUS project is perfectly in line with the European development strategies which identify the cultural sector as a driver for social and economic development, specifically with the NEW EUROPEAN BAUHAUS strategy.
