The project “Hand in Hand” aims to advance the social integration of people with disabilities and children from disadvantaged families in Saldus (Latvia) and Kretinga (Lithuania) districts by improving social services. The project partner from Kretinga has well-established social services, emphasizing integration, work skills, and support for people with severe disabilities. On the other hand, the project partner from Saldus has more experience in the work of youth centres. The project seeks to combine strengths, share best practices, and elevate social services. During the project, specialists from the newly established Day Activity Centre in Kretinga will learn from the experiences of specialists from the Youth Centres and Day Centre in Saldus. At the same time, Saldus Social Service Centre will gain experience from the Day Activity Centre in Kretinga. They will incorporate a "Friendship Coffee" activity that enables both outdoor and indoor spaces for providing high-quality social services. Additionally, both partners will improve and equip their centres and outdoor spaces to offer a broader range of social services. By bringing together disabled individuals and children from disadvantaged families through joint activities such as sport days, adventure camps, and cooking classes, the project will address societal intolerance and foster inclusivity. Project partners will develop integration recommendations based on project experiences. These innovative and practical recommendations will be incorporated into the future initiatives of both partners, ensuring a lasting positive impact on communities in Latvia-Lithuania border regions. Projekto „Hand in Hand“ tikslas – pagerinti žmonių su negalia ir vaikų iš socialiai remtinų šeimų socialinę integraciją Saldus (Latvija) ir Kretingos (Lietuva) rajonuose gerinant socialines paslaugas. Pažymėtina, kad projekto partneris iš Kretingos gali pasigirti gerai išplėtotomis socialinėmis paslaugomis neįgaliesiems, pabrėžiant jų integraciją į visuomenę, darbo įgūdžių ugdymą ir plačią paramą sunkią negalią turintiems žmonėms. Tuo tarpu projekto partneris iš Saldaus daugiausia dėmesio skiria jaunimo centrams. Projektu siekiama sujungti stipriąsias puses, dalytis gerąja patirtimi ir pakelti socialines paslaugas. Projekto metu naujai įsteigto Kretingos dienos veiklos centro specialistai mokysis iš Saldus jaunimo centrų ir dienos centro specialistų patirties. O Saldus socialinių paslaugų centras perims Kretingos dienos veiklos centro patirtį ir į savo veiklas įsitrauks „Draugystės kavą“, kuri įgalins teikti kokybiškas socialines paslaugas tiek lauko, tiek vidaus erdvėse. Be to, abu partneriai patobulins ir įrengs savo centrus įvairesnėms socialinėms paslaugoms teikti. Suburiant neįgalius asmenis ir vaikus iš nepalankioje padėtyje esančių šeimų per bendrą veiklą, pavyzdžiui, sporto dienas, nuotykių stovyklas ir maisto gaminimo pamokas, projektas padės spręsti visuomenės netolerancijos problemas ir skatins įtraukties problemas. Partneriai, remdamiesi vertinga šio projekto metu įgyta patirtimi, kartu parengs rekomendacijas dėl projekto tikslinės grupės integracijos iniciatyvų. Šios novatoriškos ir praktiškos rekomendacijos bus įtrauktos į būsimus abiejų partnerių darbus, užtikrinant ilgalaikį teigiamą poveikį Latvijos ir Lietuvos pasienio regionuose gyvenančioms bendruomenėms. Vienlaicīgi Saldus Sociālais dienests iegūs pieredzi no Dienas aktivitāšu centra Kretingā, iekļaujot "Draudzības kafejnīcas" aktivitāti, kas ļauj sniegt kvalitatīvu sociālo pakalpojumu gan ārā, gan iekštelpās. Turklāt abi partneri uzlabos un aprīkos savus centrus un to āra vidi, lai sniegtu plašāku sociālo pakalpojumu klāstu. Apvienojot cilvēkus ar invaliditāti un bērnus no nelabvēlīgām ģimenēm kopīgās aktivitātēs, piemēram, sporta dienās, piedzīvojumu nometnēs un ēdiena gatavošanas nodarbībās, projekts risinās sabiedrības neiecietības problēmu. Projekta partneri kopīgi izstrādās ieteikumus integrācijas iniciatīvām un aktivitātēm, kuri tiks ieviesti abu partneru ikdienas darbā, nodrošinot ilgtermiņa pozitīvu ietekmi uz Latvijas-Lietuvas robežas reģionu kopienām.

Actual Achievements (EN):

During the project period, activities mostly with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have been initiated in Kretinga Open Youth Centre and activities mostly with disabled people have been initiated in Saldus municipality "Social service" agency. Young people from disadvantage families in Kretinga hade Sessions with a mentor were held to discuss the needs of the young people, their imaginary plans for the future, and presentations by the mentor on future career choices, which had a significant impact on the testing of the "Shadowing of a profession". The young people were very keen to get involved in the job shadowing activities by suggesting possible job shadowing sites themselves, and were very enthusiastic to participate in the activities coordinated by the social work coordinator. Young people with disabilities who are currently enrolled in a vocational school were also keen to take part in the mentoring activities. Disabled people in Saldus hade cooking classes and activities with physiotherapist. It is new and very important skills for thous persons to enhance the integration in society. In 1.period our cooperation was very clothe - bay preparing project activities and organising them. In Jun 3 social workers from Saldus took part in job shadowing in Dienos Veikols Centras in Kretinga. In August was joint summer camp, where young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and people with disabilities participated in joint activities, also had a great impact on young people and disabled people. Young people made friends, learnt about disabilities and took part in joint activities. The International Co-operative Camp showed that with the right approach it is possible to bring together different groups of people, enabling them to get to know people with disabilities through common activities.

The main activities include individual needs assessment. In Saldus, three structures have been established: specialized workshops, group flats for people with disabilities, and the center "Jumis" for children with disabilities. The project also provides support for clients of the day care center "Saulespuķe". Project "Kurzeme visiem" has made significant progress in social care services for people and children with disabilities, but there is still much work to be done to create a more inclusive society and improve social services for the target group.
