(FR) | This project will be one of the two fundamental pillars of GREENSMARTMED project. The methodology phases and tools that have been successfully developed in this project will be used as starting point of the GREENSMARTMED methodology and toolkit. Indeed, the GREENOMED methodology has been conceived in the frame of the “VANGUARD Initiative – New Growth Through Smart Specialization” and has proven to be effective in defining and establishing regional working groups focused on Regional key topics (i.e., RIS3). The methodology and tools will be upgraded to adapt to the European manufacturing industry's new economic challenges and will be integrated mainly with FinMED methodology and tools to achieve a higher participation of SMEs in cooperation initiatives. (FR), FinMED (Financed by Interreg MED Programme 01/02/2018 – 31/02/2022). Fostering economic growth and development, while ensuring that natural assets continue to provide the resources and environmental services on which prosperity relies, is no more a choice but an imperative for economic and social future wellbeing of people. Although green transition will not take off without financing and assure the financing of innovation in green sectors has become a common concern for all MED countries and regions. To answer this challenge, a pool of regions, clusters, business support organisations, knowledge providers and development agencies joined in the finMED project, whose aim is to boost the financing of innovation in green growth sectors through improved delivery of policies and strategies and the introduction of innovative cluster services.
- The project delivers concrete outputs and results in three fields:
- 1- Public policies delivery, by developing and adopting new concepts, principle and practices to finance green growth strategies;
- 2- Innovation and business environment, by improving interaction and collaboration (at regional and transnational level) among involved stakeholders and bridging the gap among enterprises and financers;
- 3- Green sectors capacities, by stimulating and actively supporting their adaptability to the most impellent financing challenges. finMED also develops a proper specific position on the future of green sectors innovation financing, supporting the policy debate for 2021-2028 programming period in MED and EU area

(FR), GREEN GROWTH - The Interreg MED Green Growth Community (Financed by Interreg MED Programme 01/11/2019 – 31/10/2022) – is a thematic community promoting sustainable development in the Mediterranean, based on the sound management of natural resources and enhancing cross-sectoral innovation practices through an integrated and territorially-based cooperation approach.
- The GREEN GROWTH horizontal project, represented by CUEIM, has been implemented to address the main challenges in the MED area related to Green Growth and the Circular Economy and promote innovation in the agrifood, eco-innovation, smart cities, waste management and green finance focus areas. The Community gathers 17 projects, 165 partners (research institutions, SME’s, governmental bodies, regional/national authorities) from 13 countries, clustered around its 4 focus areas, tackling the key priorities of the EU Green Deal and the EU Circular Economy Action Plan by further building upon and capitalising on the first phase of our project (SYNGGI - 2016-2019). Its primary tool is the Capitalisation Platform, GGC platform, through which it shares the 17 projects results and material, exchange knowledge in the field of green growth and develops new partnerships and synergies between institutions and stakeholders. (FR), Pact for Circular Fashion in Catalonia (FR), Pact for Circular Fashion in Catalonia (EN) | Catalonia has historically been characterized by having a powerful textile industry (one of the target of this project). It stands out in Europe for its great potential for utilizing textile waste: they have a long tradition of factories using recycled textile materials in their production. At a time when decisive measures are being defined to curb the impact of the climate crisis and advance the circular economy, and after an extensive process of dialogue and consensus, the Pact for Circular Fashion is born. It is a voluntary pact between institutions and companies from the different links of the textile value chain in Catalonia that will facilitate the incorporation of circularity measures, the promotion of collaborative projects and the improvement of the sector’s competitiveness. An open and transversal sectoral initiative. A group of driving agents from the entire textile value chain have been working alongside the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) and other organizations to define the bases of the Pact. The Pact was born with the desire to add and coordinate the efforts of all the textile value chain agents and respond jointly and effectively to the sector’s challenges, establishing common objectives and generating instruments that make possible the sector’s transformation towards a circular model. This sectoral initiative is one of the circular economy pilot actions chosen by the European Union within the Interreg Europe CircE project for its innovative nature and its potential for replicability in other territories. Texfor and Eurecat are members of the Pact for Circular Fashion in Catalonia.

In particular, Mission 4, dedicated to Education and Research, includes multiple investments that have the potential to create synergies with the proposed project. (FR) | UNIBG is directly involved in multiple initiatives aiming to strengthen and make easier connection, collaboration and technology transfer among research institutions and companies:
- -the extended partnership between Universities and companies related to circular and sustainable “Made-in-Italy”: the problem faced concerns the sustainability and competitiveness of Made-in-Italy excellence in terms of choice of materials and redesign of supply chains to make them more circular in maintaining high quality. It also concerns 4.0 innovation in sectors in which Italy is a leader and which represent a hub for digital and sustainable transition.
- -the extended partnership between Universities and companies related to sustainable finance: it focuses on deepening sustainability profiles, in long and medium term, of debt for various players in economic system: State, families, businesses. Debt challenge takes on relevance also in the light of European project relating to Capital Markets Union, aimed at rebalancing financial structure of companies by favoring their access to capital market, and the more general theme of sustainable finance. Activities contribute to development of a chain that starts from frontier research and arrives at the final products/services considering other transversal aspects (strengthening of key competences, technologies and knowledge transfer and ability to integrate technologies in systems/services.
- -the national center on sustainable mobility: carries out research and promotes national and international innovation on models and technologies contributing to transport systems and infrastructures (land, water and air, including autonomous) of people/goods, to sustainable mobility and decarbonisation, and promotes their integration in a short, medium and long term perspective, in a framework of collaboration with companies and production chains with a high research intensity.

(EN), Coalition - Horizon Europe Project (FR), Coalition - Horizon Europe CSA project (July 2022) (EN) | Energy efficiency, Renewable Energy Sources, Energy Storage/Batteries, Hydrogen, Efficient Buildings, climate neutrality, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and decarbonization of industries & coal regions are in the heart of European Policies for the new programming period (ie. Green Deal, EU Strategic Energy Technology Plan, Twin Industrial Transition etc.). Many financial instruments have been setup to support these objectives with a common denominator in sustainable energy. EU alliances across value chains, IPCEIs (ie. Descarbonization & Hydrogen, Batteries) and Research & Policy Platforms (ie. Coal Regions in Transition), are dedicated to facilitate advancement of R&I in the field through collective effort of EU members, and enable transformation of EU regions to climate neutral, thriving economies. This context finds a lot of countries striving to comply, especially challenging those that traditionally have economies heavily dependent on fossil fuel mining and exploitation; a major shift has to be done in a short amount of time, putting at risk the balances in local economies and making years-long expertise and well-established skills become obsolete. COALition intends to strengthen regional innovation ecosystems in coal-depended areas through the creation of regional excellence hubs and the definition of a joint strategic agenda for sustainable energy to facilitate their transition in a just and inclusive way. The regions have been carefully selected (Western Macedonia - GR, Centru - RO, Southeastern - BG) among the under transition EU states that are also characterized as widening, in an attempt to maximize the long-term impact of the joint R&I strategy that are developed within the project, as those territories are about to amass large amounts of funding and COALition aims to create multiplier effects in the given investments by attracting and mobilizing external investments. The project aims to establish a systemic, cross-sectorial, Demand-Driven Circular Economy solution that will unlock the cost-effective reuse of post-use composite materials and components in new high-added value products. Lombardy (Italy), Basque Country (Spain), Tampere (Finland), Slovenia and Upper Austria (Austria) will demonstrate 14 composite re-use business cases, then replicated and multiplicated across European regions, facilitated by a dedicated multi-stakeholder Digital Platform. The project is aligned to Lombardy RIS3 strategy dealing with circular economy applied to composite and plastic materials. It will unlock a circular approach towards a green transition in manufacturing industry. Furthermore, through the cascade funding, it represents an opportunity for SMEs to test innovative solutions applied to plastic/composite sector to be integrated in GREENSMARTMED.
