Thanks to TAGs project Agro-food SMEs and research organizations working together to make food process more efficient and reduce the environmental impact.
- Innovative technologies, sensors, drones and Artificial Intelligence dedicated to precision agriculture: water saving, reduction in chemical product use, quality product prediction, are some of the most important results of TAGs project. Partners representing different target groups: Researchers, Agro-Food SMes, Technology Providers and Policy Makers work together both from Greece and Italy to identify S.M.A.R.T. solutions for supporting the Agro-food business sector, its sustainable development and at the same time to protect the environment from pollution and excessive exploitation.
- Two Pilot fields equipped with advanced technologies will be realized: one in Italy and one in Greece, where all interested people can see the impact of the identified solutions for precision farming. But TAGs, is not only technology, it is: education, sensitization and cooperation. A new Transnational Action Group will be defined to strengthen and improve the cooperation among local action groups and all other stakeholders to promote and improve the international competitiveness of Agro-food sector and at the same time to stimulate through the paradigm of open innovation research and technological development much more closer to real market needs. The project encouraged the use of NBS and ecosystem service by promoting the planting of native and climate resistant vegetation in areas lacking large sites for this function and using the small plots/spots which are not attractive for other purposes. Facilitating the processes of adaptation to climate change in these forest masses is a task as complex as it is necessary, on which Life Adaptamed intends to have an important contribution that will be embodied in different manuals of good practices in terms of adaptation and identification and protection of ecosystem services. - (EN) | The MERLIN project is committed to transformative ecosystem restoration, integrating nature-based solutions for our society's urgent systemic change. MERLIN learns from 17 best practice case study demonstrators in terms of innovative restoration measures, governance types and funding structures. With more than €10 million invested in other practical upscaling measures, MERLIN turns these 17 projects into beacons of innovation for transformative and systemic change. EDIA enters as a partner with the case study "ERVIDEL FLOODPLAIN", the twin case of Sorraia, where it will implement measures to restore the similarity carried out on the Sorraia river.
- In the case of Merlin, solutions were studied, and interventions were carried out in a riparian ecosystem, trying to restore and return the ecosystem to be more resilient to climate change, taking into account the climatic, morphological, physical, chemical and biodiversity components. In the future, thanks to the Germ of Life project, it will be possible to apply the tools and solutions achieved to apply them in riparian ecosystems such as the one studied in the Merlin project.
