Addressing the consequences of climate change is a fundamental challenge for the Euro-MED territory. To reinforce regional adaptation, significant opportunities exist in shifting strategic focus toward Nature-based Solutions (NbS), particularly those centered on wetland ecosystems. However, wetland loss and degradation continue to undermine the recognition of wetland-related climate services into governance and decision-making processes, limiting their contribution to human well-being, climate resilience and sustainable growth across different governance levels. Wetland4Change aims to validate and transfer wetland-based solutions for climate adaptation and mitigation, accelerating the capacities of wetland managers and decision-makers to cope with the climate crisis at local and transnational level through science-based knowledge, innovative governance mechanisms, standardised assessments, guidance, and tailored capacity building programmes. During the Test phase, this project validated and tested proven wetland-based solutions for carbon sequestration and flood regulation tested in five pilot sites across 5 Euro-Mediterranean countries (BG, GR, IT, FR, ES). In parallel, the project developed the Euro-MED Wetlands Climate Solutions Platform, a spatial decision-support tool designed to support the transfer and operational uptake of wetland-based solutions for climate adaptation and mitigation. The platform provides harmonised information on wetland location, extent, condition and ecosystem services for all pilot sites, with a particular focus on their capacity to enhance carbon sequestration and regulate floods, while integrating innovative methodologies and Earth Observation-based assessments developed during the project. Building on these results, the Transfer phase aims to ensure the effective territorial and institutional uptake of the validated solutions in new receiving territories across the Euro-MED area. To ensure territorial mainstreaming, the transfer phase follows a structured giver-receiver approach involving core givers, sub-givers and receiving partners. The validated methodologies will be transferred, adapted and applied in new territorial contexts including sites with coastal wetlands, estuarine systems, lakes and rivers, ensuring the transferability of the results across differing ecological and governance frameworks. The Transfer phase will focus on multilevel capacity building, territorial adaptation of methodologies, stakeholder engagement and integration of results directly into water and wetland management plans, territorial planning, river basin management strategies, and policy frameworks. The project will deliver practical transfer action plans and policy adoption pathways. The project goes beyond existing practices through the operational transfer of tested methodologies into real and diverse decision-making processes, strengthening territorial cooperation across governance levels. Through its transnational approach, Wetland4Change supports the replication and scaling-up of wetland-based climate solutions across the Mediterranean Basin, contributing to stronger institutional capacities, improved wetland management and increased territorial climate resilience.

Faire face aux conséquences du changement climatique constitue un défi fondamental pour le territoire Euro-MED. Afin de renforcer l’adaptation régionale, d’importantes opportunités existent pour réorienter les stratégies vers des Solutions fondées sur la Nature (SfN), en particulier celles centrées sur les écosystèmes humides. Cependant, la perte et la dégradation continues des zones humides compromettent encore l’intégration des services climatiques liés aux zones humides dans les processus de gouvernance et de prise de décision, limitant ainsi leur contribution au bien-être humain, à la résilience climatique et à une croissance durable aux différents niveaux de gouvernance. Wetland4Change vise à valider et transférer des solutions fondées sur les zones humides pour l’adaptation et l’atténuation du changement climatique, en renforçant les capacités des gestionnaires de zones humides et des décideurs à faire face à la crise climatique aux niveaux local et transnational grâce à des connaissances scientifiques, des mécanismes de gouvernance innovants, des évaluations standardisées, des orientations méthodologiques et des programmes de renforcement des capacités adaptés. Durant la phase Test, le projet a validé et expérimenté des solutions éprouvées fondées sur les zones humides pour la séquestration du carbone et la régulation des inondations sur cinq sites pilotes situés dans cinq pays euro-méditerranéens (Bulgarie, Grèce, Italie, France et Espagne). En parallèle, le projet a développé la plateforme Euro-MED Wetlands Climate Solutions Platform, un outil spatial d’aide à la décision conçu pour soutenir le transfert et l’intégration opérationnelle de solutions fondées sur les zones humides pour l’adaptation et l’atténuation du changement climatique. Cette plateforme fournit des informations harmonisées sur la localisation, l’étendue, l’état et les services écosystémiques des zones humides de tous les sites pilotes, avec un accent particulier sur leur capacité à renforcer la séquestration du carbone et à réguler les inondations, tout en intégrant des méthodologies innovantes et des évaluations basées sur l’observation de la Terre développées dans le cadre du projet. S’appuyant sur ces résultats, la phase Transfer vise à assurer l’appropriation territoriale et institutionnelle effective des solutions validées dans de nouveaux territoires bénéficiaires de l’espace Euro-MED. Afin de garantir l’intégration territoriale des résultats, la phase de transfert suit une approche structurée « giver-receiver » impliquant des partenaires principaux transmetteurs (core givers), des sous-transmetteurs (sub-givers) et des partenaires bénéficiaires (receivers). Les méthodologies validées seront transférées, adaptées et appliquées dans de nouveaux contextes territoriaux comprenant des zones humides côtières, des systèmes estuariens, des lacs et des rivières, garantissant ainsi la transférabilité des résultats dans des cadres écologiques et de gouvernance variés. La phase Transfer se concentrera sur le renforcement des capacités à plusieurs niveaux, l’adaptation territoriale des méthodologies, l’implication des parties prenantes et l’intégration directe des résultats dans les plans de gestion de l’eau et des zones humides, la planification territoriale, les stratégies de gestion des bassins versants ainsi que les cadres politiques. Le projet produira des plans d’action de transfert concrets ainsi que des feuilles de route pour l’adoption des politiques. Le projet dépasse les pratiques existantes grâce au transfert opérationnel de méthodologies testées vers des processus décisionnels réels et diversifiés, renforçant ainsi la coopération territoriale entre les différents niveaux de gouvernance. Par son approche transnationale, Wetland4Change soutient la réplication et la montée en échelle des solutions climatiques fondées sur les zones humides à travers le bassin méditerranéen, contribuant au renforcement des capacités institutionnelles, à une meilleure gestion des zones humides et à une résilience climatique territoriale accrue.

Actual Achievements (EN):

The Wetland4Change project has made significant strides in its early stages, with a strong focus on developing methodologies for testing and validating wetland-based solutions - carbon sequestration and flood regulation, as well as fostering collaboration between project partners and stakeholders. The project team was fully established, and a structured workflow was created to ensure smooth coordination both internally and among project partners. A detailed schedule for meetings, events, and deliverables was finalized, and the Project Steering Committee was formed to oversee governance. The Internal Management Handbook was developed and shared with the partners. The project officially launched with a kick-off event in Sofia, Bulgaria, in April 2024. The event included a visit to Dragoman Marsh, Bulgaria's largest karst wetland, emphasizing the project’s focus on wetland ecosystems. Collaboration extended across borders, with representatives actively participating in training and knowledge exchange sessions, particularly through the Summer School on ecosystem restoration. Partners presented on wetlands' importance, restoration techniques, and how to create effective restoration plans, further building capacity among participants. Project representative participated also in the joint thematic projects meeting in Croatia. The work in the pilot sites advanced with gathering and harmonizing essential data for the two main deliverables for the reporting period, preliminary data and technical information were collected. The data collection followed the specific recommendations provided by leaders of Work Package 1 (Carbon Sequestration) and Work Package 2 (Flood Regulation), ensuring that the information met project needs for the initial stages of the assessments. Two deliverables are delivered: Del. 1.1.1: Preliminary study and technical guidance report for the mapping and assessment of C-sequestration and Del. 2.1.1. Report for the mapping and assessment of the flood regulation wetland service. The project's communication activities were successfully launched, including the creation of a Communication Strategy and various tools such as roll-ups, leaflets, and an online presence through social media and a dedicated webpage. Public engagement included participation in local events, such as the Kerkini Lake Run in Greece, helping to raise awareness of the project’s goals and engage local communities. The project has fostered strong cooperation between partners from various regions, enhancing knowledge exchange and collective problem-solving. The main outputs delivered are: i) Preliminary reports and methodologies for carbon sequestration and flood regulation; ii) Communication tools and platforms to engage stakeholders and the public; iii) Training and educational materials developed for ecosystem restoration and wetland management. The Wetland4Change project benefits from the collaboration of diverse partners across Europe, who bring unique perspectives and expertise to the table. By working together, the project is able to tackle complex environmental challenges more effectively, drawing on shared knowledge and resources to develop innovative wetland-based solutions. This cooperation not only enriches the project’s outputs but also ensures that the solutions developed have wide applicability and impact across the region. During the last two reporting periods, significant progress was achieved across key work packages (WPs), advancing wetland-based solutions for carbon sequestration and flood regulation. Through extensive research, stakeholder engagement, and technical training, the project has made substantial contributions to the implementation and validation of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in pilot areas. WP1: Wetland-Based Solution for Carbon Sequestration We conducted preliminary research, gathered critical data, and refined the methodological framework for assessing carbon sequestration potential. Key highlights include: Participation in the Technical Training Workshop in Valencia, where partners gained insights into the Albufera Carbon Sequestration Methodology, cause-and-effect matrix prioritization, and survey plans for monitoring carbon sequestration capacity. Development of the Preliminary Study and Technical Guidance Report for Carbon Sequestration Mapping, ensuring methodological consistency across pilot sites. Field data collection and sampling strategy development, along with stakeholder networking for knowledge sharing and support. Scientific review and assessment of wetland carbon sequestration dynamics, strengthening expertise within the project team. WP2: Wetland-Based Solution for Flood Regulation Key achievements include: Networking with local and regional water management authorities to assess existing flood risk management frameworks and explore the integration of NbS. Collection and organization of hydrological, ecological, and governance-related data necessary for WP2 deliverables. Development of a structured methodology to assess the role of wetlands in flood regulation, prepared during this reporting period to support future project activities. Preparation for the internal technical workshop and online training organized by the University of Malaga and Tour du Valat, ensuring a solid methodological foundation for subsequent research and implementation. Stakeholder Engagement and Policy Advocacy Collaboration with stakeholders was a priority, emphasizing the added value of NbS for climate resilience. Notable activities included: Hosting the first stakeholder meetings in the pilot sites, engaging municipalities, NGOs, and academia to discuss wetland conservation strategies. During the events, discussions centred on wetland services, climate adaptation, and synergies with agricultural policies and tourism. Establishing a dialogue with key regional and national authorities to integrate NbS into flood risk management plans and climate adaptation strategies. WP3: The transfer plan of wetland-based climate change adaptation and mitigation solutions Knowledge exchange and replication efforts were supported through: Development of the Transfer Case template in collaboration, ensuring a structured approach for sharing best practices. Active participation in policy advocacy forums, including the Interreg Euro-MED Working Groups and the Natural Heritage Mission Institutional Dialogue Event in Malaga. Contributions to the joint position paper on restoration, leveraging momentum from the recently approved EU Nature Restoration Regulation. Ongoing engagement with associated partners and local stakeholders to promote wetland restoration solutions for agricultural and climate policies. Preparation of training material for and participation to the Natural Heritage Mission’s 1st Summer School on the topic ““Our Mediterranean ecosystems’ health is in danger. Time to restore it!” Project Management and Communication The project maintained effective coordination and dissemination efforts by: Submitting the first progress report, ensuring continuous monitoring and transparent reporting. Facilitating seamless information exchange with project partners, the Joint Secretariat, and the Managing Authority. Organizing brainstorming sessions on key messages, reinforcing a coherent and impactful communication strategy. Publishing updates on project achievements, pilot site activities, and stakeholder engagements. The reporting period has been marked by substantial progress in implementing and validating wetland-based solutions for carbon sequestration and flood regulation. Through extensive stakeholder collaboration, technical advancements, and policy advocacy, the project is paving the way for sustainable climate adaptation strategies in Mediterranean wetland ecosystems. These efforts underscore the vital role of wetlands in mitigating climate change impacts and highlight the collective commitment to integrating NbS into regional and EU-wide policies. During the first half of 2025, Wetland4Change advanced the testing of wetland-based solutions for climate adaptation across five pilot territories in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Spain and France, building a shared evidence base and creating momentum among end-users. The project continued to pursue two complementary solutions—carbon sequestration and flood regulation—through harmonised methods and joint validation, demonstrating why a transnational approach is essential in the Euro-MED context. For the carbon-sequestration solution, partners progressed along two tracks. First, harmonised protocols and data workflows coordinated with the WP1 leader enabled partners to assemble site data and prepare modelling inputs for all pilots. Second, targeted field campaigns were launched where feasible to strengthen calibration. In Greece, EKBY designed and carried out the first carbon-flux sampling in Lake Kerkini, building a floating chamber with a CO₂ sensor and collecting measurements at 20 locations alongside supporting environmental parameters to inform Tier-2 modelling of the whole wetland. n Italy, measurements were taken in the Oristano pilot during a visit coordinated with UVEG, resolving early data gaps and improving the accuracy of ongoing GHG calculations. In Bulgaria, the team focused on monitoring and satellite analyses and scheduled the first GHG field measurements for September in coordination with UVEG, ensuring methodological alignment ahead of field deployment. In France and Spain, partners concentrated on data preparation and coordination rather than on-site flux campaigns in this semester. Together, these steps enriched the common inputs that will feed the forthcoming technical report, maps and communication materials on wetland carbon capacity. The flood-regulation solution reached a major milestone with the finalisation and roll-out of a common methodology led by Tour du Valat, which compiled and, where necessary, produced missing datasets for all pilots and shared an implementation protocol with the partnership. A technical workshop hosted by UMA in Málaga in January consolidated key elements—such as integrating soil data and refining index weighting—and an online follow-up in March aligned partners for implementation. First mapping and assessment results were then discussed jointly for Oristano, Albufera and Kerkini at the General Assembly, and presented to stakeholders during the first Living Lab. A highlight of the period was the Living Lab in Oristano, organised by MEDSEA, which gathered local authorities, administrations, researchers, private actors and community representatives. The event combined co-design discussions with in-field demonstrations, showcased the progress on both solutions, and strengthened a shared understanding of how results can be integrated into local planning and management. This hands-on format accelerated learning across sites and ensured that technical choices reflect user needs. Policy and governance engagement deepened in parallel. In Bulgaria, the Ministry of Environment and Water and the Municipality of Blagoevgrad engaged actively with the pilot, including interest in adding a new wetland and initiating its protection, and participation in a national working group on GAEC 2 to link wetland carbon storage with the CAP framework. In Greece, EKBY mobilised regional and municipal authorities and involved a national policy maker through the Network of Greek Cities with Lakes, orienting results toward flood-risk and water-management plans. Across the partnership, links with the Natural Heritage Mission’s Amplification Room were strengthened to ensure that tested outputs are transferred and up-scaled, with UMA coordinating result-amplification actions and preparing contributions for training and clustering activities. Overall, by mid-2025 the project has delivered a shared methodology for flood regulation, put in place harmonised workflows for carbon assessment, launched field validation where conditions allowed, and mobilised stakeholders through a living lab that connected science and practice. The cooperation adds value by providing comparable methods across diverse wetlands, pooling modelling and Earth-observation expertise with on-the-ground management, and threading results into policy arenas from local municipalities to national CAP implementation. This collective effort keeps Wetland4Change on track to deliver robust carbon and flood-regulation assessments, a Euro-MED wetland knowledge base, and a dynamic, stakeholder-oriented Transfer Plan that can be taken up beyond the pilot sites During Reporting Period 4, Wetland4Change advanced the joint testing, validation and consolidation of its two wetland-based solutions for carbon sequestration and flood regulation across the five Mediterranean pilot sites. The period was characterised by intensified field implementation, methodological refinement, cross-partner collaboration and strengthened links between scientific outputs and governance frameworks. WP1: Advancing the carbon sequestration solution All pilot partners continued testing and validation of the carbon sequestration framework At the Kerkini pilot EKBY (PP2) conducted two autumn sampling campaigns, significantly enriching the carbon flux dataset and strengthening the scientific basis for assessing carbon sequestration dynamics. The late-November campaign was carried out jointly with WP1 partners, reinforcing methodological comparability. UVEG (PP3) played a central technical role in harmonising and consolidating the GHG flux database, refining Tier 1–3 methodologies and conducting dedicated Tier 3 validation campaigns, including in situ CO₂ and CH₄ measurements in Lake Kerkini using the portable gas analyser. UVEG also reinforced cross-site comparability through standardised GIS and Google Earth Engine workflows. In Bulgaria, UF (LP1) supported the WP1 Leader through environmental mapping and land-cover characterisation using multispectral imagery processing. Tier 2 field campaigns were implemented at Choklyovo Marsh and Izvor Reservoir, including water, sediment and vegetation sampling, along with UVEG. In Italy, MEDSEA (PP4) consolidated carbon sequestration assessments at the Oristano pilot and contributed to methodological discussions and analysis of land use implications for greenhouse gas dynamics. TdV (PP5) finalised and formatted carbon sequestration indicator results for the Camargue pilot and shared outputs for integration at project level. These coordinated efforts reinforced the robustness and comparability of the carbon sequestration solution. WP2: Strengthening the flood regulation solution Substantial methodological and analytical progress was achieved under WP2. UMA (PP6) played a central technical role by revising the methodology for assessing and scoring the flood regulation indicator and strengthening related documentation. It established the runoff modelling workflow and generated preliminary runoff results for all pilot sites. UVEG contributed to WP2 through basin-scale modelling applications in Albufera, extending flood-risk and water-retention modelling to the Júcar and Turia catchments and validating models using data from extreme flood events, including the January 2025 DANA. EKBY contributed substantially to WP2 through both the technical advancement and validation of the flood regulation wetland service and the linking of scientific outputs with policy and stakeholder processes. MEDSEA’s contribution focused on supporting pilot-level implementation, methodological alignment and interaction with technical partners. In Bulgaria, UF continued cooperation with Tour du Valat to validate and calibrate the flood regulation methodology using site-specific data. TdV contributed to coordination and finalisation of flood regulation indicator calculations across pilot sites. Results from pilot testing were presented to stakeholders during events in November 2025. WP3: Transfer and result amplification Partners reinforced the link between pilot results and uptake. UF advanced integration of spatial datasets into the Wetland Knowledge Base and GIS platform and progressed the Transfer Plan. TdV participated in coordination related to platform and data integration. UVEG supported WP3 by delivering spatially explicit carbon-sequestration datasets, functional compartment analyses, emission and mitigation maps for integration into the Euro-Med geo-knowledge base. UMA, as Result Amplification Coordinator, represented the project in webinars and high-level events and organised a policy workshop with RESTORE4Cs to promote results and encourage uptake among national and regional stakeholders. EKBY actively contributed to the implementation of activities supporting the development of stakeholder-oriented transfer processes for wetland-based solutions. MEDSEA’s contribution focused on strengthening links between pilot-level implementation, stakeholder interaction and the future uptake of wetland-based solutions Added value of cooperation Reporting Period 4 confirmed the added value of transnational cooperation through harmonised protocols, shared modelling workflows, joint validation and coordinated stakeholder engagement. A tool derived from this project and developed to test the benefits of management practices, is a spreadsheets template listing wetland compartments along the vertical axis against management activities in the horizontal one, being each of the X/Y pairs scored in terms of GHG abatement potential (i.e., rates of total carbon sequestered/emitted). An analogous tool is planned to be implemented in this proposal.
Accordingly, outcomes of this LIFE project will serve as a starting point for the present proposal. (EN) | The aim of this recently funded project is to test experimentally the impact of anthropogenic pollutants on the GHG emissions and C-sequestering capacity related to the biodiversity of Mediterranean wetlands. This study will be carried out in the context of the Albufera de Valencia, one of the pilot wetlands of this proposal. This project will test in the Albufera pilot site that services such as climate regulation benefit from conservation strategies that maintain or improve the ecological status of wetlands, in such way the the results obtained could be capitalised in the present proposal. No overlap is expected, only uptake and capitalization of research knowledge.

The results achieved during 5 years of work can be summarized as follows:

During the project implementation, the active involvement of stakeholders and raising awareness have been very relevant. More than 400 stakeholders were directly or indirectly, particularly from the agriculture, fisheries and tourism sectors.
An important awareness-raising action has been developed with the schools on World Wetland Day and Coast Day, with clean-up, training events, competitions and the creation of an educational kit.
The experience has highlighted the importance of collaboration between local actors and how multi-objective interventions can be the winning key to increasing the support of the local population and administrations as a single intervention has benefits for different categories of stakeholders and promotes multiple ecosystem services.

The experience has highlighted the importance of collaboration between local actors and how multi-objective interventions can be the winning key to increasing the support of the local population and administrations as a single intervention has benefits for different categories of stakeholders and promotes multiple ecosystem services. (EN), Improving the conservation effectiveness of wetlands, WetMainAreas (5017855) (01.09.2017 - 30.08.2020) funded under TNCP Balkan-Mediterranean 2014-2020 (EN), Improving the conservation effectiveness of wetlands, WetMainAreas (5017855) (01.09.2017 - 30.08.2020) funded under TNCP Balkan-Mediterranean 2014-2020 (FR) | WetMainAreas adequately addresses the transnational challenge for promoting ecological connectivity and transnational ecosystems’ integration by focusing on wetlands conservation and scientific policy improvement. Through the help of Sentinel-2 images integration analysis of new maps and in-situ measurements a comprehensive and updated picture of wetlands over the Balkan-Mediterranean territory (Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus, North Macedonia and Albania) is provided as a key information source for sustainable management and conservation issues. Harmonized mapping layers and database on Balkan-Mediterranean wetlands ecosystems available through a geoportal were produced. In addition, a satellite based monitoring service of monitoring surface water dynamics, which provides access in a 3-year time series of satellite-delivered water indices used to map the wetlands’ water regime. The portal systematically monitors more than 8 500 wetlands in the programme area (Greece, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and Cyprus) with unprecedented level of information and scientific value.
The synergy between the current proposal and WetMainAreas is done through the Lead Partner (UF) and EKBY, through: the application of the WetMainAreas methodology for mapping wetland location, extent, and condition for the purpose of the preliminary studies in WP1 and WP2 where it is necessary; and under WP3 the WetMainAreas geodatabase will be enhanced geographically to the EuroMed territory and will be bridged with the Mediterranean Biodiversity Knowledge Portal coordinated by UMA and with the MWO coordinated by TdV. Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

EUStrategyAdriaticIonianRegion Climate change is expected to affect much of the Adriatic- Ionian Region more severely than elsewhere in the EU, especially in the case of coastal natural habitats. As denoted in the Topic 2 of this strategy (Transnational terrestrial habitats and biodiversity), its action plan focuses on well-identified EU priorities such as mitigation and adaptation to climate change, issues related to water quality and disaster risk reduction. All these aspects are jointly addressed in the present project. On the other hand, two partners of the project (EKBY and MEDSEA) belong to countries within this strategy (Greece and Italy, respectively), which will contribute to reinforce the development of macro-regional actions as it is also encouraged by this strategy.
EuropeanGreenDeal The project will support the EU Green Deal by contributing to two of its main objectives: 1) Increasing the EU’s climate ambition for 2030 and 2050 and 2) Preserving and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity. The latter will be supported by the tools and strategies developed at pilot area level which will ensure wetland conservation and restoration, with a direct positive impact on the mitigation capacity of wetlands supporting the EU’s climate ambition. The EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 is a key element of the EU Green Deal. The Strategy refers explicitly to wetland protection and restoration as essential nature-based solutions for emission reduction and climate adaptation, taking into account projected shifts in vegetation zones, and highlights the protection of coastal and floodplain wetlands for reducing flood damage losses. ETC-UMA is part of the EC Expert Group on (Ecosystem) monitoring - EC EGM- that will guide EC and EU MSs throughout the implementation phase of the EC Biodiversity Strategy to 2030. ETC-UMA will continue cross-feeding the Mediterranean development in guiding ecosystem management in the Mediterranean with the developments of the EC EGM for wetland. This will ensure harmonisation and uptake between the EU and the Mediterranean processes and will guide restoration prioritisation and best practices.
TerritorialAgenda2030 The Territorial Agenda provides an action-oriented framework to promote territorial cohesion in Europe. Accordingly, the present proposal is expected to foster the convergence and equality in the EU policies and programmes dedicated to environmental monitoring, furthermore, introducing the climatic component to this. Particularly, this strategy encourages developing actions to offset climate change effects, considering that mitigation and adaptation actions can also bring new development opportunities for places.

Ramsar Strategic Action Plan and the Strategic Work Plan 2023-2025 of MedWet (the Ramsar Regional Initiative for the Mediterranean)
The main objective of the Strategic Work Plan 2023-2025 is to implement the Ramsar Strategic Plan 2016-2024 in the Mediterranean area and follow the MedWet Framework for Action 2016-2030 through a series of concrete actions for the conservation of wetlands and the sustainable use of their resources in the Mediterranean region.
The Work Plan addresses the Ramsar Goals in the Mediterranean context in a sound and effective manner. All the activities of MedWet are designed to contribute to the achievement of specific targets of the four goals defined by Ramsar.
Wetland restoration and conservation as Nature-based solution is one of the key topic that will be implemented in the following triennium addressed to local public authority; regional public authority; national public authority of the Mediterranean in different ways. In particular, national authorities will be using the outcomes of the project to prepare and implement robust national strategies on wetlands restoration and conservation. Moreover, these approaches will be integrated in national climate policies and plans.
