While the previous project was focused in governance aspects, aimed at gathering the key actors of the Med BBt sector and increase their innovation capacity and their coordination to unlock the innovation potential in the field through joint transnational initiatives, also involving organizations from the Southern Shore of the Mediterranean, 2B-Blue was born as testing project to implement actions on B-Blue community and to create joint solutions tested in real life conditions. To this end, 2B-Blue will make use of the Network of Blue Biotechnologies Hubs (BBH), set by B_Blue, for involving MED BBt innovation communities in the testing phase. Moreover, it will capitalise on the B-Blue methodology for mapping best practices and stakeholders, fine tuning and integrating the related dynamic database; the research and analysis on regulatory frameworks, environmental sustainability evaluation frameworks, market perspectives and sustainable business models relating to BBt value chains; the Demonstration Sites models and methods to be tested on a wider and transnational scale; its tools & methodologies for the innovation transfer & capacity building in the BBt sector to be upscaled in a new knowledge transferring framework.

The busget of the strategy is 60M€ for 5 years to 2025. (FR) | ThinkinAzul is a national project coordinated by the Region of Murcia, being partner UMU the scientific coordinator. The general objective of ThinkinAzul is to create a network of centres of excellence to cooperatively tackle challenges in marine research, aquaculture, new technologies, impacts on the marine environment and the blue economy.
- In this line, an ecosystem for marine science research and innovation will be developed in Spain and will feed activities, best practices and knowledge transfer of blue biotechnologies to 2B-Blue.
- In ThinkInAzul, blue biotechnology is a priority and there are several actions and investigations related to it for environmental bioremediation, to improve the monitoring of marine ecosystems and for the application in aquaculture and to improve the processes making it more efficient.
- Moreover, there is a shared stakeholder mapping exercise among B-Blue and this project. This will facilitate the development of demonstration sites and knowledge transfer between 2B-Blue stakeholders and this project, as well as the sharing of results and promote synergies among transformation labs and DS.

This formula completely excludes fishmeal and fish oil from its composition, decreasing the dependence of the aquaculture sector on marine resources. It is also profitable as its production costs are up to 40% cheaper than classical feed. After the consortium confirmed the feasibility of its innovative fish feed on a small scale, their aim has been to go a step further and validate its use on an industrial scale.
- In 2B-Blue, the results obtained will be used to implement a more sustainable innovation aquaculture and to carry out Demonstration Sites in this type of technologies and techniques developed in EASYFEED.

- (EN) | Partner IFREMER was coordinating PREP4BLUE, funded by the EU Horizon Europe program, PREP4BLUE is a €4.9 million, three-year project that will set the foundations for co-creating and co-implementing the research and innovation required to achieve Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030. This Mission seeks to restore the health of our ocean, seas and waters by protecting and restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity, preventing and eliminating pollution, and making the Blue Economy sustainable, carbon neutral and circular.
- The main synergy with 2B-BLUE will be the strategy for involving citizens and stakeholders to interlink, leverage and optimise 2B-BLUE activities . ACEPSD partner have participated in Blue Boost to facilitate the structuring of the blue economy sector in Albania. He did also the mapping, described the state of the art and conducted a market study. A similar work will also be conducted in this project, without excluding the investigation of market perspectives and needs.
- Furthermore, pilot activities included in 2B-BLUE project will be implemented by ACEPSD, which has a long experience in aquaculture practical research and relative new technologies introduction and transfer at national level (like RAS or IMTA).
- ACEPSD has been an active member of the Blue Boost Project, which aims at unlocking and boosting the potential of knowledge/technology transfer, transnational and cross-sectoral cooperation of key innovation actors of traditional (primarily fisheries and ship-building) and emerging (primarily Blue technologies-including aquaculture- green shipbuilding, robotics and new materials) Blue Growth sectors by reinforcing the relationships and interactions within and among their clusters according to an open source, knowledge sharing and community based approach. As Knowledge Provider, ACEPSD has been implementing 2 Blue Boost Voucher Schemes in Albania: 1) Fresh Fish for Sustainable Fisheries Development in the Vlora Bay by Using the Recirculating Aquaculture System and 2) Ecological Monitoring for Sustainable Marine Aquaculture in the Vlora Bay, while Boosting the Blue Growth Sector of Aquaculture in Albania. (FR) | Based on the experience of EXTRA project regarding the involvement of different stakeholders for promoting the slow food approach and add value to the local products, ACEPSD will develop participatory activities (involving management, industry, and science) to find possible action ways to help address the normative challenges and improve the current situation in specific value chains. In the EXTRA project new products were promoted during the cooking shows and the invasive species of blue crab was showed to the participants as an example of transforming the threads coming from marine invasive species into an added value for the local coastal economy.
- In the 2B-BLUE project, following a similar approach, ACEPSD (in collaboration with national and international partners) will launch initiatives to showcase and promote new products and services (food, well-being and health, cosmetics or improve carbon footprint) offered by blue biotechnology through communication media and influencers.
- ACEPSD partner was responsible for developing a joint programme of workshops and B2B experience laboratories, following the principles of sustainable tourism, with a focus on parks, Natura 2000 sites, traditional agricultural, fisheries and aquaculture practices, and typical products. The final goal was to contribute to smart management of tourism destinations in the Programme area.
