Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

    • EuropeanGreenDeal The European Commission has adopted a series of proposals aimed at adapting the EU's climate, energy, transport and taxation policies to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990. Transport is a critical element in this. Promoting sustainable transport, the EU Green Deal will improve the well-being and health of citizens and future generations by providing efficient, safe and environmentally friendly transport services, which is in the same direction as GREENMO. The project can contribute to the wider strategy by completing it with the element of inclusiveness that is missing.
    • TerritorialAgenda2030 The Territorial Agenda 2030 is a strategic framework document that underlines the importance of and provides orientation for strategic spatial planning and calls for strengthening the territorial dimension of sector policies at all governance levels. It seeks to promote an inclusive and sustainable future for all places and help achieve Sustainable Development Goals in Europe. One of main pillars is “Sustainable connections” targeting to the sustainable digital and physical connectivity of territories. Thus, it invites those responsible for spatial planning and transport planning to explore new socially and environmentally progressive models for local and regional mobility as a service and to work together for multimodal and environmentally friendly accessibility outside and inside urban centers.
    • All these are related to mobility hubs and citizens’ inclusion which are the two main pillars of GREENMO project. Mobility hubs are multimodal stations which exploit the urban space aiming to provide beautiful spaces and hi-quality services. The project aims to jointly develop a holistic strategic document which will incorporate the element of inclusiveness, just like the Territorial Agenda promotes. Thus, such an output, which is aligned with the goals of this wider strategy, can significantly contribute and complement it. The attempt of PPs will be to develop the document to become a reference document on the concept of mobility hubs following the principles of inclusiveness and sustainable mobility connections in urban living areas.
    • Other EU Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy is a landmark for mobility in EU. Based on the target of EU Green Deal to cut 90% the emissions by 2050 by delivering a “smart, competitive, safe, accessible and affordable transport system”, this strategy forms the basis for how the EU transport system can successfully implement this green and digital transformation while increasing resilience to future crises. The Sustainable Mobility Strategy puts in place key milestones for all modes of transport. GREENMO jointly developed strategy will be focused on green and inclusive mobility hubs in MED areas. Its uptake will contribute to the target of the wider EU strategy.
    • Other Recognizing that the environmental targets can only be succeeded with the people and communities, the European Climate Pact was launched as a citizen-oriented initiative towards green living areas, transport, buildings and skills. The European Climate Pact is an opportunity for people, communities and organisations to participate in climate action across Europe.
    • However, this initiative is on a theoretical level to learn, debate, connect. GREENMO can significantly contribute to enhance and strengthen this by placing citizens in the processes of developing the final project strategic document. Applying in practice the principle of public engagement and participation, GREENMO document aims to add value to the European Climate Pact and to become a reference point of its repository in order to be shared and disseminated by the members of the Pact to their regions, to be adapted, transferred, and uptaken, by them towards inclusively implementing mobility hubs as a solution for CO2 reduction.
