- SALUTE4CE| InterregCE| 2019-2022 | Integrated environmental management of SmALl Green Spots in FUncTional Urban ArEas following the idea of acupuncture (EN) | The CICADA4CE will consume the concept of urban environmental acupuncture (UEA) elaborated in the SALUTE4CE consisting in a surgical and selective green intervention into the urban environment, instead of large scale projects that involve thousands of hectares and tremendous costs in cities/FUAs. The SALUTE4CE also include the socio-ecological part which will be transferred as a part of the Action Plans. (EN), UNALAB |H2020| 2017-2022|Urban Nature Labs (EN) | UNaLab developed, via co-creation with stakeholders and implementation of ‘living lab’ demonstration areas, a robust evidence base and European framework of innovative, replicable, and locally-attuned nature-based solutions to enhance the climate and water resilience of cities. These experiences in co-creation processes and framework of dedicated nature-based solutions will support the Action Plans co-creation in CICADA4CE partner cities. (EN), UGB | InterregCE|2016-2019 |Urban Green Belt (EN) | The CICADA4CE will include the best practices elaborated in the UGB project such as innovative methods and tools dedicated to community involvement, multi-stakeholder governance leading to integrated models for managing urban green spaces smartly to improve biodiversity in the cities. (EN), BASE |FP7| 2012-2017| Bottom-up Climate Adaptation (EN) | Project BASE will support WP T1 due to the provided policy guidelines by integrating lessons from past experiences. Potential conflicts and synergies of adaptation with other important policies have been explored to overcome constraints caused by context-related inertias. Furthermore the outputs will support CICADA4CE stakeholder involvement through participatory and co-design techniques including bottom-up initiatives. (EN), Green Surge |FP7| 2013-2017|Green Infrastructure and Urban Biodiversity for Sustainable Urban Development and the Green Economy (EN) | The CICADA4CE Action Plans ad Pilot Actions will consume the good practices collected in Green Surge concerning planning concept for both integration and promotion of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and adapt it to local contexts, applying an innovative biocultural diversity perspective to develop successful governance arrangements facilitating socio-ecological integration and local engagement in planning of urban green spaces. (EN), "HeatResilientCity II"|2021-2023| funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)| Heat adaptation of urban building and settlement structures - Actor-oriented implementation support for increasing climate resilience and health care (EN) | Based on knowledge and tool developed by IOER in the HeatResilientCity II adapted to the CICADA4CE ECbA concept the assessing the impact of interventions on specific ecosystem services will be provided. It will help to analyse the benefits of climate adaptation measures in ECbA in relation to specific local problems. (EN), Mod4GrIn | Norway Grants, 2020-2023 | Self-sustainable, smart module for city green (EN) | The best practices and lessons learnt will be taken from the implementation part of the Mod4GrIn consisting in solutions for the green roof, green wall and vegetation designed for buildings, covered with stress-resistant native plant species, equipped with a water circulation system and monitoring devices based on the Internet of Things (IoT) approach, support by solar power. All these activities support adaptation to climate changes, restoration of ecosystem functions, and natural capital. (EN), UPSURGE funded by Horizon 2020 (2021 – 2025) City-centred Approach to Catalyse Nature-Based Solutions through EU Regenerative Urban Lighthouse (EN) | UPSURGE is aiming at development of a numer of tools which will suport cities in their transition into a regenerative future, especially in the framework of air quality and climate neutrality. IETU as a partner is leading a task on creating Urban Regenerative Development Clearinghouse and actively participates in the work of living labs organized in partner cities, where the co-creation processes concerning NBS investments are being implemented. Contribution to wider strategies and policies:
- EUStrategyAdriaticIonianRegion The CICADA4CE addresses two of four thematic pillars defined by EU Adriatic and Ionian Reginal Strategy – Blue Growth and Environmental Quality as well as both cross-cutting issues supporting the transfer of know-how from research and capacity building. The actions supporting climate change adaptation will actively use blue technologies and ecosystem services provided by urban terrestrial habitats and their biodiversity supported in its sustainability by the project actions
- EuropeanGreenDeal The project directly addresses the challenge of climate change and environmental degradation as focus of the EU Green Deal. The focus on cities follows reality of forthcoming urbanisation and major impact of them on climate change. With its innovative approach and practice-oriented actions it contributes to overcome these challenges ensuring lowering the emissions of greenhouse gases, support sustainable growth decoupled from resource use and involvement of broad public into collective action.
- TerritorialAgenda2030 The project directly addresses territorial priorities of the TA 2030 not only in the domain A Green Europe with the goal to achieve climate-neutral and resilient towns, cities, and regions but in the domain of Just Europe as well. The combination of the ecosystem services concept with the concept of collective actions activates synergies of territorial capital, encourage neighbourhoods, communities, and cities on responses to global societal challenges and improving their living conditions.
- EUStrategyDanubeRegion The project will contribute to achieve the defined targets of the Danube Region Strategy under several Priority Areas addressing by its activities the energy efficiency, use of renewable resources, raise of public awareness towards the environment friendly, economic, efficient and safe water uses, promoting the establishment and maintenance of green infrastructure and water retention measures, water related measures in urban planning, supporting green infrastructure development and others.
- EUStrategyBalticSeaRegion Climate change adaptation, risk prevention and management as the main challenges of territorial development addressed by the CICADA4CE belong to the 9 sub-objectives of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. The climate change and cooperation belong to the horizontal aspects across all policy areas of the Strategy. Urban areas addressed by the project represent the essential environment for achieving the Strategy objective 3 - Increased prosperity of the region.
- EUStrategyAlpineRegion Region strategy are addressed by CICADA4CE. Planned actions are the climate change and its foreseeable effects on the environment, biodiversity and on the living conditions of inhabitants and energy challenge - managing and meeting demand sustainably, securely, and affordably defined as challenges of the EU Alpine relevant for priorities under Objective 3 focusing on natural resources as assets of a high-quality living area, risks management such as those of climate change.
