- 'Cambiovia PRO' - Interreg Italie-France Maritime Programme 2021 – 2027 (EN) | CAmBioVIA aimed to improve the effectiveness of public actions in the protection, promotion and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage represented by protected areas, parks and historic sites along the transhumance route.
- CAmBioVIA PRO aims to capitalize on CambioVia's results and other experiences of the partnership in the field of biodiversity protection and rural development, on the model of the PES and the active participation of the communities.
- The main objective is to help strengthen cross-border cooperation between the territories of the Maritime area on the themes of traditional animal husbandry and transhumance, for the purpose of developing sustainable multifunctional agriculture and an experiential tourist offer.
- CamBioVIA PRO offers mutual opportunities to broaden the skills framework and technical arena at both central EU and Mediterranean levels by increasing the wealth of exchanges of knowledge and good practices.

(EN), Jean Monnet EVA and Jean Monnet “LAURA – Valuation of natural assets and services and the European green deal” (EN) | EVA (Economic Valuation and Accounting)- Jean Monnet Module (611913-EPP-1-2019-1-IT-EPPJMO-MODULE): in the core of the debate on the ecological transaction, at the heart of a more general reflection on climate neutrality objectives, growth and development models and the heritage we will leave to next generations, the EVA module offers advanced training in the theoretical and empirical tools for managing the economic dimension of environmental conservation and biodiversity. Moreover, the module proposes a multi-disciplinary approach to take up, in terms of new professional skills, the challenges proposed by the European policy of the New Green Deal.
- This interdisciplinary knowledge represents a value added as it fosters professional profiles specifically trained for a “green job” profession (e.g. environmental accountant and environmental consultant), highly promoted by the EU (see Green Jobs for a greener future, 2007), or for positions in environmental departments of government bodies or protected areas management.
- Central-BIC is an opportunity to transfer this knowledge and skills and to improve the participatory approach implemented in the project (WP3) aimed at actively involving all stakeholders in the decision-making process (good practices and solutions).
- Specific synergies and planned activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps:
- The EVA module carried out training activities with students on the importance of accounting for the contribution of the ecosystem to the production of income and well-being. Within Central-BIC these activities they can be extended to raise awareness of all stakeholders on the issue.
- Furthermore, as part of the approach based on continuous mutual learning and exchange of experiences between the local, transnational and international levels, the activities of EVA can be extended to coordinate stakeholders and the Opengroups integrating economic and ecological contents in a single framework. Now is just started "Laura" too. (EN), ALPTREES project – Alpine Space 2014-2020 (EN) | INTERREG Alpine Space 2014-2020: Transnational Cooperation Programme. General objective: to improve the quality of life of the 80 million inhabitants of the Alpine region.
- ALPTREES aims at providing a transnational strategy for a Decision Support System on responsible use and management of non-native tree species in the Alpine Space.
- The project fits within the context of national and regional site-derived policy aiming to protect and enhance biodiversity to ensure ecological connectivity and cultural resources while maintaining a high level of resilience and ecosystem services across the Alpine space - https://www.alpine-space.org/projects/alptrees/en/home.
- Central-BIC is an opportunity to transfer and enhance the participatory approach implemented in the ALPTREES project aimed at actively involving citizens (in the case of ALPTREES the students) in a process of raising awareness on the issue of management of non-native tree species and the consequent resilience of ecosystem services.
- Specific synergies and foreseen activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps:
- the ALPTREES project carried out citizen science activities with students on the topic of management of non-native tree species and within Central-BIC the citizen science activities with students and the general public can be extended, for example, to raise awareness about the resilience capacity of ecosystem services, if and how they are
- affected by the spread of alien species. (EN), Valle Bormida Alta Langa” Territorial Pact (PattoTerritoriale, IT) (EN) | TERRITORIAL PACTS: identified by the Italian Government as financing instruments for integrated development projects for the weakest areas of the country. The legislation of the Territorial Pacts, meeting the expectations of local actors, was based on some widely shared assumptions: a voluntary pact between the actors of the social and economic life, bottom-up approach with the common definition of
- problems and lines of intervention, integration between the various sectors to make the most of local resources.
- Central-BIC is an opportunity to enhance a replicable and transferable model of enhancement and capitalization of the main strategic assets (vocations), in a process aimed at promoting an economic model for rural areas based on its human, social and environmental values.
- Specific synergies and foreseen activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps:
- in Central-BIC can be capitalized the integrated approach based on public and private partnerships implemented in the Territorial Pact with a particular attention to the protection of biodiversity as ad added value at the local level. With the signing of the Territorial Pact “Valle Bormida Alta Langa”, a development process was initiated which produced significant economic and social results. Sustainable territorial
- development processes have been launched, facilitated by the enhancement of typical local products and the development of tourism.
- In Central-BIC the issue of the biodiversity and territorial vocational assets can be faced in order to build synergies and common actions and to trigger a multiplier effect. (EN), RENATUR project - Interreg Europe 2014-2020 (EN) | The main objective of the Interreg Europe project (Improving regional policies to better protect natural heritage of peri-urban open spaces, 2019-2023) is to improve the management of peri-urban open spaces from a conservation perspective. The project reviews the natural values and heritage of peri-urban and peri-urban areas, the conservation and sustainable use of which is the objective of the cooperation. HBCG
- works on the mapping ecosystem services in a general context with special focus on green infrastructures. (EN), Community-Led Local Development Strategy for The Carp Valley (EN) | Synergies with the project “Community-Led Local Development Strategy for The Carp Valley” for 2014-2020 funded within the framework of the two programs: The Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 and the Operational Programme "Fisheries and the Sea "for the years 2014-2020. As part of the project there was organized set of activities focused on economic, social and tourism management, with the principles of sustainable development. The project was realized by the Carp Valley Association. (EN), CRinMA - Interreg Europe (EN) | Synergies and capitalization with the project CRinMA funded by Interreg Europe. The focus of the project was environment and resource efficiency. This project realized in 2017-2021 focused on how to facilitate valorisation and better protection of the precious cultural heritage in the remote localities. The project leader was Małopolska Region. (EN), LIFE ShepForBio, Reference: LIFE20 NAT/IT/001076 (EN) | The aim of the LIFE ShepForBio project is to improve the conservation status of three habitat types listed in the Habitats Directive ‘Semi-natural dry grasslands…’ (6210*), ‘Species-rich Nardus grasslands…’ (6230*) and ‘Juniperus communis formations on heaths or calcareous grasslands’ (5130), in the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, through the development of pastoral activities that will guarantee their sustainable and lasting management. The approach is based on three lines of action:
- habitat restoration through direct management (e.g. shrub clearing); supporting existing pastoral activities through the economical recognition of the multi-services that mountain farms provide (e.g. landscape and biodiversity conservation, production of food) and training courses based on shepherd needs; and increased
- recruitment of new shepherds.
- Specific synergies and foreseen activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps:
- Project Central-BIC is in synergie with LIFE ShepForBio becuase both projects have interchangeable activities, only Central-BIC has mainly focus on ecosystem services and therefore on the exchange between environment and economic activity. LIFE ShepForBio provided training courses based on shepherd needs, while Central-BIC will include local community and local and regional authorities relevant for the protection
- of biodiversity and stimulate participatory processes of increasing awareness of environmental value and socio-economic mechanisms of valorisation of products.
- The different territory of pilot sites avoid overlapping and contribute to wider impact on nature protection in Central Europe. The joint cooperation between project teams could be established to exchange knowlwdge, best practices and to share experience of the engagement of the local community. (EN), LIFE SouthMoravia - Reference: LIFE18 NAT/CZ/000832 (EN) | LIFE SouthMoravia objective is to improve the conservation status of 5 priority habitats of the Habitats Directive, namely, Sub-Pannonic steppic grasslands, Pannonic loess steppic grasslands, Pannonian woods with Quercus pubescens, Euro-Siberian steppic woods with Quercus spp, and Semi-natural dry grasslands and scrubland facies on calcareous substrates, including the non-priority version of this last habitat
- without important orchid sites, at the north edge of Pannonian bioregion and in one case in the Continental bioregion. A fundamental objective is to develop a comprehensive and sustainable system of habitat management through the reintroduction of traditional farming practices (e.g. grazing and mowing) at the lowest possible cost.
- Specific synergies and foreseen activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps Central-BIC is connatural with the LIFE SouthMoravia project. Both projects has focus to improve biodiversity and the conservation status of habitats with the linked developement of sustainable agrticultural system(e.g. grazing, mowing) at the lowest
- possible cost. Central-BIC will take knowledge from outputs of LIFE SouthMoravia and upgrade it with extension of the valorisation system to the product and to the territory in order to enchance the integrated economic effects also in terms of the attractiveness of the territory, tourism and consumer appreciation of the environmental element and product wellness.
- There is no overlap in the project because the projects implementation are in different habitats of Central EU. The widness of project's implementation in different habitats is benefit for both projects owning to the fact that will contribute to wider protection of nature and biodiversity in Central EU. The networking activities between project
- teams could be established to exchange and disseminate outputs, results and experience as well as to contribute to upgrade knowledge and innovative solutions to the other territory of programme area. (EN), GrassLIFE - Reference: LIFE16 NAT /LV/000262 (EN) | GrassLIFE will focus on developing, optimising and improving the conservation status
- of five EU priority grasslands in Latvia (6120*, 6210*, 6230*, 6270* and 6530*). All restoration activities will be carried out within 14 Natura 2000 network sites.
- Specific project objectives are to:
- A) Restore the target priority grassland habitats and improve their conservation status on 1 320.5 hectares by applying best-practice and testing pilot and restoration methods,
- B) Establish a long-term sustainable management (grazing) system on the restored grassland areas;
- C) Prepare recommendations for improving their conservation status and grassland connectivity;
- D) Improve the economics aspect of sustainable grassland use; and E) Improve knowledge and public awareness about the importance of preservation of priority grasslands in Latvia and the EU.
- Specific synergies and foreseen activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps:
- GrassLIFE and Central-BIC are in synergy because all two projects have focus on developing, optimising and improving the conservation status of EU grasslands habitat and establish a long-term sustainable management (grazing) system on the restored grassland areas and improve the economics aspect of sustainable grassland use.
- They don't overlap because the Central-BIC. will not only test methods and principles of Sustainable Production and Consumption, but also methods in relation to the quality and wellness of high environmental quality products. The crucial points of the Central-BIC project are the emergence of the value of sustainable products, the identification of suitable markets and distribution mechanisms, and the active
- involvement of the community in preserving these values.
- The results of the GrassLIFE project will be usefull to upgrade the expected outcomes of Central-BIC. (EN), NATUREMAN - Reference: LIFE16 IPE/DK /000006 (EN) | The overall objective of LIFE IP NATUREMAN is to create and test the incentives required to develop nature management into a separate branch of farming. The project focuses on 11 Natura 2000 network sites in central and northern Jutland (Denmark) and targets the following habitat types of the Habitats Directive: petrifying springs (7220*), alkaline fens (7230) and grasslands (6120*, 6210 and 6230).
- Specific synergies and foreseen activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps:
- NATUREMAN and Central-BIC are in synergy, because both projects based their activities on ecosystem services and therefore on the exchange between environment and economic activity, but with slightly different methods, approach and target groups. Projects don't overlap and the main differnece is the territory and that NATUREMAN objectiv is to make it financially attractive for farmers to include natural areas with grazing or harvesting of biomass in their farming activities, through the
- development of high-value specialty products, and promote more holistic approach to nature and water management.
- The project Central-BIC aims to sets up a sustainable and virtuous economic and social system motivated to practice an active protection of biodiversity which gives full satisfaction to local communities, enhances the value of rural territories as a whole and induces the consumer towards sustainable consumption paths. Central-
- BIC approach in boosting socio-economic activities. Project's implementation is in different teritory and that contributes too to avoid overlaping as well as to wider application of sustainable socio-economic community development in harmony with nature in Central Europe. (EN), DEAL4EU Europe for Citizens project - funded bu Citizens Europe programme (EN) | The project aims at bringing the European Green Deal policies closer to the local communities and young people, who should be the authors of strategies aimed at improving the environmental policies both at local and European level. DEAL4EU funded by Citizens Europe programme is a network of 8 different European towns (in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Italy, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Cyprus)
- that will promote Green Deal values, objectives and policies among youngsters in order to make them Green ambassadors in their own home territories. Deal4EU gives the opportunity to young people to participate in European meetups at the headquarters of the project partners, where they can discuss issues related to sustainability. We create a Youth group regarding the thematic related environmental
- and climate change, on this to concentrate tailored synergic action for young people involvement would be particularly encouraged for maximization of impact and engagement on this key horizontal priority. (EN), AlpES Interreg Alpine Space (EN) | Synergies can be developed out of the knowledge developten within the AlpES-project in the Alpine Space Programme. This project has developed an approach for ecosystem service identification and assessment which can be a starting point to be transferred to the Central-BIC project. (EN), TEEB Germany (National research project on behalf of the Federal
- Agency for Nature Conservation) (EN) | In the German national TEEB project also approaches and data handling have been explored, which can be used for the approach which is foreseen. (EN), NaturVielfalt Leben (Regional development project) (EN) | The project on behalf of the district of Munich has analysed biodiversity deficits in the district area. Based on an ecological analysis an approach has been proposed which kind of landscape development measures are best to improve biodiversity and to involve stakeholder from civil society, public authorities and enterprises in the biodiversity maintenance. - methods & tools - INTERREG Central Europe (EN) | The Toolbox was developed within project “URBAN INNO – Utilizing innovation potential of urban ecosystems” to support urban innovation processes in cities of Central Europe. It provides guidance for identification of target groups, interaction exploiting participatory methods using new communication channels, and maintaining relationship after the interaction. Synergies with Central-BIC: The toolbox can be used as input in conceptual phase and as supportive tool during pilot planning phase. - Green Infrastructures (EN) | Programme co-finances and supports cooperation projects across the borders of seven Alpine countries. General objective: AS programme contributes to the goals of EUSALP and support project that achieve transition to a unique, carbon neutral and climate resilient European territory.
- The aim is to recognise and valorise the joint benefits deriving from Green infrastructure between mountain/rural and urban areas as well as their potential for sustainable economic development, based on natural capital and ecosystem services that participate in assuring higher quality of life and better urban environments to people living in urban centres. Beside that it aims at making policy makers aware of
- alpine ecosystems, GI and the services they deliver to urban areas.
- Specific synergies and foreseen activities to ensure coordination and avoid overlaps:
- Recognizing the importance of green infrastructure (LUIGI project), which highlighted the link between rural and urban spaces, is a synergy point linked to the Central-BIC based on strong collaboration with local communities that have recognized the importance of green infrastructure but have not yet become guardians of nature.
- The multidisciplinary cooperation indicated LUIGI project, in the pilot areas of the Alpine space, is reflected in the Central-BIC upgrade: valorising traditional products,the origin and source of these products, promoting market positioning and recognizing value.
- The different territory on which the project take place, avoid overlaps of results, raising awareness and involving local communities in safeguarding the environment in Central Europe. (EN), 'ENGREEN' Interreg Italy - Slovenia 2014 - 2020 project (EN) | DRAFT - The project deals with the protection and enhancement of environmental and natural heritage and Natura 2000 sites and in particular with the conservation status of species/habitats linked to green infrastructures (IV) in the cross-border area involved in the project.

- Combining historical, environmental and legal perspectives, CLOE training adopts a multidisciplinary approach to mountain and rural sustainable development and conservation.

- - coming back to the mountains (T3);
