Description (EN):

GreenPATH will develop an integrated an innovative approach to commuting in CE functional urban areas (FUAs). GreenPATH will co-design smart and green mobility solutions targeted to public and private stakeholders, co-designed with Mobility Managers, that will benefit from the project’s output by ensuring sustainable mobility solutions to students and employees. The project addresses the common challenge towards decarbonising urban mobility in CE through a set of solutions – tested through pilots – strategies and action plans developed by a unique ensemble of 11PPs (local public Administration, mobility agencies and operators, universities and research bodies) and 12 APs located in a region where transport remains the primary contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. The GreenPATH project specifically focuses on promoting sustainable mobility options within Functional Urban Areas (FUAs) and addressing the challenges related to mobility management and commuting from home to work. The cooperation among partners will elaborate a common strategy for the integrated governance of commuters flows in FUAs, deliver a proven approach to participated mobility management, and a range of co-designed innovative solutions to be scaled up in FUAs. GreenPATH tackles the identified challenges and needs through a comprehensive and innovative approach, going beyond existing practices by considering the unique characteristics and demands of each FUA and integrating the strategies outlined in the SUMPs. The use of new technologies and data-sharing platforms will be enhanced to optimize transport efficiency and improve the overall commuting experience. By leveraging innovative tools and solutions, such as smart mobility applications and data analytics, GreenPATH aims to provide commuters with real-time information, personalized travel options, and seamless integration of different modes of transport Transnational cooperation is crucial for the successful implementation of the GreenPATH project and the achievement of its objectives, since only a transnational approach brings added value to the expertise of each PP and project area. The consortium, comprising diverse organizations from Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, and Croatia, ensures the integration of unique perspectives and practices, enriching the project with a broader understanding of the challenges and potential solutions. Moreover, transnational cooperation will allow to overcome national legislation and create mobility management tools applicable across the entire Programme Area. GreenPATH comprises a wide set of outputs, among which Formal Cooperation and Long-Term Relations, 3 Collaborative Solutions – made by sets of mobility management measures - for Sustainable Mobility, tested in 3 pilots deployed throughout FUAs governed or operated by PPs and APs. The set of outputs is completed by the GreenPATH Strategy and 7 Action Plans for each FUA, for the take up and further implementation of the solutions will be officially adopted by decision makers. Through the delivery of mentioned solutions, pilots, strategies and action plans, GreenPATH addresses programme results connected to cooperation across borders after project completion, Solutions and joint strategies taken up or up-scaled by PPs and beyond. GreenPATH will deliver practical solutions and action plans to the benefit of a wide panel of potential users, such as Local and regional public authorities, sectoral agencies, Infrastructure and (public) service providers, Higher education and research organisations, schools, industrial and service companies, and related mobility management teams

Actual Achievements (EN):

During the first two periods of the project, one of the primary achievements of the GreenPATH project has been the comprehensive analysis of territorial needs and gaps at the Functional Urban Area (FUA) level in Central Europe, specifically concerning sustainable commuting and existing measures for Mobility Management. The analysis focused on seven participating FUAs: Berlin (Germany), Maribor (Slovenia), Monza (Italy), Ravenna (Italy), Kecskemét (Hungary), Osijek (Croatia), and Vienna (Austria). These territories face common challenges related to daily commuting for students and workers, including a high reliance on private cars, inadequate public and shared mobility options, and a high level of transport-related emissions. Each FUA territorial analysis was discussed and enriched during the Joint Transnational Review Workshop with international mobility experts. Following the GreenPATH approach to co-design innovative and green mobility solutions targeted at public and private stakeholders, GreenPATH performed stakeholder engagement activities, starting with stakeholder mapping, which was jointly discussed in a common workshop involving all PPs. This was done to assess the influence and power of each stakeholder regarding their potential involvement in the pilot project. Following the stakeholder mapping, PPs conducted in-depth, structured interviews to investigate their perceptions regarding GreenPATH solutions and raise awareness about the upcoming pilot project implementation activities. Furthermore, GreenPATH involved stakeholders and commuters through a transnational survey to gather data on public perception of commuting behaviour and Mobility Management. All PPs surveyed target users, and this effort resulted in responses from 782 individuals, including students and employees, the key commuter target groups the project aims to support. What emerged was a detailed picture of how people move, why they choose specific modes, and what barriers they face in making more sustainable choices. This contributed to the achievement of Milestone 1: Analysis of Public Perception on Mobility Management. The project envisaged the drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding, a strategy jointly developed to foster cooperation among GreenPATH's Project Partners and Associated Partners. This MoU aims to create a collective and shared commitment to further support GreenPATH activities. The ultimate goal is to advance green commuting solutions and achieve carbon-neutral urban mobility for students and employees in each FUA involved in GreenPATH. Finally, PPs have begun preparing for pilot projects, which are set to launch in Period 3. A pilot implementation methodology has been finalised to provide partners with a comprehensive approach to tracking the progress and outcomes of the pilots, including three annexes containing pilot report templates: ex-ante, interim, and ex-post. These templates are designed to be completed as the pilot progresses. PPs involved in a pilot action within the GreenPATH project have already submitted their ex-ante pilot action reports. These ex-ante reports outline the pilot's objectives, provide a description and plan for activities, and detail the KPIs that will be used to monitor the pilot’s impact and outcomes. These KPIs were collaboratively co-designed during a dedicated KPIs workshop. The ex-ante reports also cover the stakeholders involved and the co-design and peer-review process.
