Description (EN):

GNSS observations are widely used for monitoring tectonic displacements and deformations. These applications require high positioning accuracy and continuous observations are needed to be able to detect even small displacement rates. Although GNSS sensors have been used in these tasks, the spread of the technology was limited due to the high costs of the GNSS receivers. GeoNetSee will create a solution for monitoring unstable terrain and artificial structures, which will include a geosensor network and a platform for collecting, processing, and visualizing collected data in real-time. An innovation chain of technology and knowledge-intensive activities within the DRP region will be created to close off innovation gaps and the uptake of advanced technologies for a smarter and greener Danube region. The project will rely on existing infrastructure, experience, and knowledge from previously implemented and ongoing projects of similar character managed by project partners (GIMS, RISE, GeoTwinn (Horizon); EXA4MIND, safEarth, RESPONSa (Interreg); eTeren, BORIS, SoFPAS, GeoSES (infrastructure EU funded projects); MontePN, TRMODELL (innovative and IPA); URMA (Europan Space Agency funded project)). The strong support and cooperation with the associated strategic partners (Rescue and Protection Directorate in Montenegro, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis, Public Water Management-Vode Vojvodine, Directorate for emergency situations in Serbia, Traffic Institute CIP, Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning in Slovenia, Federal Administration for geodetic and property affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Microrisc from Czech Republic, Hungarian Public Roads, Hungarian State Railway, Romanian Space Agency, Disaster Competence Network Austria) will increase the impact of GeoNetSee results. This cooperation will have a positive impact on regional policies and strategies implementation and ensure the project’s long-lasting sustainability in accordance with the legal framework. A collaborative digital platform that brings together universities, institutes, SMEs and governmental bodies will be established. This platform, called the Danube Collaborative Center (DCC) will share all collected data, research findings, best practices, and expertise in multidisciplinary domains. DCC will foster partnerships and collaboration with similar EU organizations and commissions, to leverage existing expertise, share resources, and align efforts in data collection, analysis, and knowledge sharing. As it will connect the DRP region, stakeholders and different research domains, it will transcend existing political borders and provide an opportunity for “vertical” communication between stakeholders (problem givers) and researchers (problem solvers). By DCC platform development the legacy of the Project is ensured as with the available large amount of easily accessible specialized data the future transfer of knowledge and good practice will be guaranteed and solutions can be harmonized even outside the DRP area. The solution will include the installation of permanent CORS stations in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia & Herzegovina, that would join the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) which also includes the EUREF Permanent global positioning satellite systems (GNSS) Network (EPN). This will provide added value to the GeoNetSee and ensure bi-directional data flow between GeoNetSee digital platform and EPOS network. The project will include transnational cooperation to complement national and regional mainstream with innovative and coordinated policy, planning and pilot-tested led delivery. Partner countries are part of the Eurasian tectonic plate and thus the importance of the European Terrestrial Reference System 89 (ETRS89) usage is crucial. The GeoNetSee will contribute to the improvement of the spatial resolution of the EPOS network for monitoring the movement of tectonic plates in the DRP region. The installation of new locations for permanent GNSS monitoring contributes to the understanding of geodynamic processes in the area of the Danube basin, and they can also be used for permanent observation of all-natural and artificial structures of interest. The real-time terrain and facility monitoring service will ensure timely community response to ground movement and facility deformation, which can result in material damage and loss of life. Unstable terrain knows no national borders, and the GeoNetSee offers a solution that is important for all members of the DRP region and beyond. Using cloud technologies, anyone can access relevant data and detect measurement values that exceed the tolerance threshold. In this way, a large amount of data is provided, which would enable further research and application of geosensor networks outside geodesy, for example in domains of geotechnical, geological analyses, damage, and risk assessments, planning adequate prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery measures, etc.

Actual Achievements (EN):

The GeoNetSee project is progressing according to the plan, with the main focus on development of an AI/IoT-based geosensor network for real-time monitoring of unstable terrain and artificial structures, and the aim to reduce the risks associated with terrain instability in the Danube Region. These efforts will bridge the innovation level gap in the entire Danube region, while addressing geohazard challenges. According to the Activities Plan, two specific objectives (SO) have started. There are three ongoing activities in the SO1 and one activity in SO2, while the activities in SO3 have not started yet. Specifically, in SO1 (Capacity Building Actions & Danube Collaborative Center (DCC) Creation), there have been active the following activities: A1.1 Current innovation levels analysis and roadmap development towards enhancing innovation levels in the DRP, through Period 3; A1.2 Capacity building for project partners, through Period 3; A1.3 Networking with EUSDR & relevant stakeholders, through Period 5. In SO2 (Development of the GeoNetSee system for geodetic monitoring), there has been one activity: A2.1 Analysis of current approaches for monitoring unstable terrain and artificial structures. The activity has been successfully finished, and its deliverable submitted. Effective collaboration has been established between the lead partner, the project partners and the associated strategic partners across the Danube Region. The launch event was organised by the Lead partner in Belgrade, with the presence of more than 40 persons, and the financial and project officer from MA/JS. Thirteen project partners physically attended the event, with one partner participating in online mode. The 2 day event set the foundation for future collaborative efforts and ensured that all partners were aligned with the project goals. During the event, the constitutive and working meetings of the Steering Committee and the Monitoring Committee were held. Later in the Period 1, there has been an intense exchange within the consortium both through in-person and physical meetings. This strong coordination is enabling efficient knowledge sharing and resource allocation. Initial steps towards identifying and preparing pilot sites for the installation of permanent GNSS stations in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia & Herzegovina have been taken. These sites will monitor tectonic displacements and structural instabilities in real time. Progress has been made in the development of the geosensor prototypes, which integrate IoT capabilities for continuous data collection on ground movement. Specifically, the Technical Panel of the project is evaluating existing sensor technologies and working towards creating cost-effective, scalable solutions. Several mailing lists have been created in order to facilitate communication within the consortium, for project managers, financial managers, communication managers, technical managers as well as for the members of steering and monitoring committees. The project set up its cloud storage for efficient exchange of electronic documents. At all the partners' premises, the project poster has been exhibited. The project has established accounts on social media: LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, and its website has been regularly updated with information on the project activities and development. The stakeholder database is being created in the Activity 1.3 so the information on the project could be disseminated to the stakeholders. The spending on the project is close to the forecasted budget, with approximately 85% of the budget spent and certified by national control bodies. The added-value of the cooperation included two main streamlines: - Transnational Collaboration: The cooperation between universities, research institutions, and public-sector bodies across the Danube Region has been crucial for sharing knowledge and best practices. This collaboration is enabling the project to address region-wide geohazards in a coordinated manner. - Technological Innovation: By leveraging transnational cooperation, the project is developing innovative geosensor technologies that can be used across various countries. This will provide a cost-effective solution for monitoring terrain stability in the Danube Region. The project is progressing according to the plan, with the main focus on development of an AI/IoT-based geosensor network for real-time monitoring of unstable terrain and artificial structures, and the aim to reduce the risks associated with terrain instability in the Danube Region. Two SO’s have been worked on, while the activities in SO3 have not started yet. In SO1: A1.1 Current innovation levels analysis and roadmap development towards enhancing innovation levels in the DRP, through Period 3; The deliverable D1.1.1. is being prepared, in accordance to the timeline A1.2 Capacity building for project partners, through Period 3; Capacity building workshop has been organized. The deliverable D1.2.1. is being collected, in accordance to the timeline. A1.3 Networking with EUSDR & relevant stakeholders, through Period 5. The project created database of stakeholders, and initiated establishment of Transnational Advisory Board. Specifically, the project networked with EUSDR PA1A, PA7, and PA8, with PACs participating our capacity building event. The project representatives presented the project at “Danube Region Transport Days” in Ljubljana, on invitation of PA1B PAC. The deliverable D1.3.1. is being prepared in accordance to the timeline. In SO2: A2.2. Development and validation of data models and AI algorithms for real-time facility monitoring and early risk forecasting, originally through Period 3, but rescheduled to Period 5; The consortium realized that this activity cannot develop according to the timeline, since it will need to include data obtained from pilot sites. The deliverable D2.2.1. has therefore been rescheduled to Period 5. A2.3. GeoNetSee system architecture for real-time monitoring of unstable terrain and artificial structures, through Period 3. The deliverable D2.3.1 is being prepared in accordance to the timeline. The capacity building event was hosted by PP GeoZS in Ljubljana, with majority online participation. All the project partners participated in person. The event was used not only for capacity building but also for presentation of the development of particular activities and review of the methodologies employed. Besides, coordinators of EUSDR PA1B, PA8 (in person) and PA7 (online) participated the event, so we could network with and disseminate our project within the EUSDR context. Representatives of JS joined the event for a hybrid session. The event has been used for working meetings of the Steering Committee and the Monitoring Committee. Throughout the period, before and after the capacity building event, several online and physical bi/multilateral meetings have been held, either a specific activity related or general, enabling efficient knowledge sharing, resource allocation, and synchronized efforts. Further steps towards identifying and preparing pilot sites for the installation of permanent GNSS stations in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia & Herzegovina have been taken. The Technical Panel of the project has finished internal evaluation of existing sensor technologies and work has been continuing towards creating cost-effective, scalable solutions. The project website and social media accounts have been regularly updated with information on the project activities and development. Initial version of the communication plan of the project has been created, which will be an integral part of the project CDE plan. A methodology was defined regarding creating and publishing project news and events on website and social media accounts, the method of storing created reports, published papers and similar documents on drive, as well as the method for sharing information about project activities/events/meetings. The project flyer containing basic information about the project has been created and it is meant to be printed and distributed to project stakeholders, institutions of interest, etc. In addition, project presentation was created, to be used by all the partners. The spending on the project is close to the forecasted budget, with approximately 88% of the budget (86% cumulative) spent and certified by national control bodies. The added-value of the cooperation included: - Transnational Collaboration: The cooperation between universities, research institutions, and public-sector bodies across the Danube Region has been crucial for sharing knowledge and best practices, thus enabling the project to address region-wide geohazards in a coordinated manner. - Technological Innovation: By leveraging transnational cooperation, the project is developing innovative geosensor technologies that can be used across various countries. This will provide a cost-effective solution for monitoring terrain stability in the DR. - Cooperation with other projects and initiatives: there have been discussions with SpinIT and safety4TMF Interreg projects, as well as with EUSALP AG4. - Strong networking with various EUSDR PA’s, notably with PA1B, PA7, and PA8.

GIMS (Geodetic integrated monitoring system): the main objective of the GIMS project (EU Horizon 2020, 2020-2023) was to build and commercialise an advanced low-cost system based on EGNSS, Copernicus SAR and others in-situ sensors, like inertial measurement units, to monitor ground deformations with a focus on landslides and subsidence. 7 GNSS stations were deployed in SW Slovenia on the motorway which is crossing landslide areas, and 7 in NW Slovenia on a deep-seated landslide and are still operating. https://www.gims-project.eu/
(EN) | GNSS sensor network established during the GIMS project and consisting of 14 GNSS stations located in two different landslide areas (infrastructure on landslide area in one case and landslide area itself in another) in Slovenia equipped with automatic, real-time data transfer will be integrated into the GeoNetSee sensor network. While GIMS is focused on using EGNSS, Copernicus SAR, and in-situ sensors for ground deformation monitoring, GeoNetSee offers advancements in real-time data collection, sensor integration, and cross-border cooperation, allowing for a more comprehensive and transnational approach to geoscientific monitoring. (EN), EXA4MIND will build an Extreme Data platform that brings together large-scale data storage systems and powerful computing infrastructures by implementing novel automated data management and effective data staging. This will enable integration with extreme data sources and support complex and advanced data analysis pipelines for knowledge extraction. (EN), “Smart buildings for a seismic resilient Montenegro”, Ministry of Science Montenegro funding programme for joining Horizon 2020 project RISE-Real-time earthquake risk reduction for a resilient Europe - No.821115, http://www.rise-eu.org. Through this project in Montenegro, for the first time, innovative technologies were applied for monitoring the buildings (Structural Health Monitoring). The instrumented "smart" building in Montenegro, the first of its kind, equipped with innovative sensors developed within the H2020 RISE project, is part of a wider European information system/platform for rapid assessment of losses due to earthquakes. The applied technology, based on MEMS sensors for detecting earthquakes, but also for real-time monitoring of the state of the building structure after an earthquake, enabled the application of smart cities logic in Montenegro in the area of earthquake preparedness. (EN) | The acquired knowledge in the area of installing and application of seismic sensors and the development of new approaches in real-time monitoring of structures will be applied in the GeoNetSee project. Also, experience gained in the development and validation of models for real-time monitoring of structures equipped with seismic sensors can be exploited within the GeoNetSee. In contrast to this project, GeoNetSee extends its expertise to geohazards beyond seismic risks, offering comprehensive real-time monitoring solutions for landslides and subsidence, thereby addressing a wider range of geoscientific challenges in the Danube Region. (EN), eTeren platform is an infrastructure project of the Geological Survey of Slovenia, co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund of the Geological Survey of Slovenia. eTeren is a centralised real-time sensor network that enables the collection, storage, processing, displaying and analysing of geological data from various types of field instruments. Daily updated field data are directly available to different end users via a web application: Researchers for their scientific work, administrators for monitoring the operation of the instruments and external clients for monitoring parameters relevant to their activities. It integrates 300 instruments of 14 different types and 10 different vendors with a total of over 2000 sensors and manages over 25,000 measurements per day. Existing methods, models and tools for assessing the impact of hazards in different countries are adapted and integrated into the BORIS methodology with a harmonized and common approach. This enabled the assessment of risks and scenarios with a common framework and understanding. The developed web platform is an effective tool for improving the prevention of transnational disasters and preparedness for improved management of crises involving different countries. Many landslide zones are located in densely populated areas and directly endanger people and properties, and within the aim of safEarth was to identify and classify those areas and to produce Landslide susceptibility maps (LSM), which provided information to local government and citizens in spatial planning, protection of human health, biodiversity and similar fields of work. From this viewpoint safEarth and GeoNetSee have a lot in common but what is the most important is the goal of public benefits and safety upgrade, towards which both projects strive. While this project primarily targets landslides, GeoNetSee expands its focus to real-time monitoring of various geoscientific hazards, including landslides and subsidence, in a broader regional context. EWS also involves the identification of risk scenarios, emergency plans, societal considerations, public awareness, etc. Implementation of RESPONSa will lead to a higher level of cooperation between academic/scientific, civil protection organizations, municipalities and other relevant institutions. As Project results will include: direct implementation of scientific methodologies in practice, obtainment of data on geological hazards from local communities, knowledge transfer between partner institutions, the establishment of a remote sensing laboratory with new equipment, application and development of new technologies and new job opportunities for young engineers, creation of a mobile team with appropriate equipment for geological hazard prospection and consulting in case of emergency, and from this viewpoint RESPONSa and GeoNetSee has a lot in common. The main goals of the projects are similar, but the way to achieve them differs and, in that sense, these two projects can gain much benefit from each other and also improve each other results. GeoNetSee expands its focus beyond landslides to cover various geoscientific hazards, offering a more comprehensive real-time monitoring system. By addressing multiple geoscientific challenges in real-time, GeoNetSee enhances the safety and preparedness of the Danube Region, ensuring greater value for communities. (EN), „Multi-layer geohazards information system concept for urban areas” (URMA) was a project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) and was carried out by a consortium in Romania, led by the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. The project had the objective to test the capabilities of the Copernicus radar satellite Sentinel-1, compared to the results given by SAR - Synthetic Aperture Radar on ERS satellites and ASAR - Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar on ENVISAT satellites, in order to identify land deformation on man-made structures and non-vegetated areas. Maps of Persistent Scatterer Interferometry points (PSI) identified on time-series images were displayed on a web platform specially designed for the project, to make the results available to the local authorities in the three test cities, as well as to the general public. (EN) | URMA projects capitalised on the PanGeo project „Enabling Access to Geological Information in Support of GMES - Global Monitoring for Environment and Security” by using the classification scheme of land deformation types developed within PanGeo, as well as making reports publicly available, on a dedicated platform. GeoNetSee will use the expertise obtained in the interpretation of land deformations (which are complementary, being obtained with different types of sensors) and will display it on maps in an accessible and easy-to-understand way for the local authorities in the studied area. GeoNetSee builds on the interpretation of land deformations, expanding the application to real-time monitoring of geoscientific risks through remote sensing technology. The project's expertise in interpreting land deformations offers accurate and accessible maps for local authorities, supporting proactive geoscientific risk management in the Danube Region. (EN), Joining to EUREF permanent network with Multi GNSS CORS stations in Montenegro (MontePN) project (http://montepn.udg.edu.me/) established a network of permanent stations with the ability to receive GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, EGNOS and Beidou system signals. This infrastructure consists of geodetic GNSS receivers and antennas that permanently monitor GNSS signals and are embedded in stable geodetic markers, a computer system for managing, receiving, and transmitting data via the Internet, quality control, and archiving. In accordance with the policy of densification of the EUREF network and the given guidelines for connecting the GNSS network of permanent stations in EPN, through this project, the permanent GNSS station DGOR00MNE
(https://www.epncb.oma.be/_networkdata/siteinfo4onestation.php?station=DGOR00MNE) is included in the EUREF permanent GNSS network (EPN) (https://epncb.oma.be/). By joining the EPN, it is possible to define a reference system in the European Terrestrial Reference System 89 (ETRS89) system and the ETRF2000 framework that most European countries have.
(EN) | In order to promote best practices for GNSS station operation, data quality control and data management, the GeoNetSee project will join the EPOS network (https://gnss-epos.eu/). This will provide access to GNSS data, metadata, products and software that support the solid Earth sciences. The GeoNetSee project, as part of its activities, will aim to join GNSS stations to the EPOS, which includes EPN. Through the MontePN project, the experience was gained for the realization of these activities. Namely, members of several partners participated in the MontePN project and ensured its successful implementation. GeoNetSee leverages the experience gained in joining the EUREF network to ensure high-precision positioning for its geosensor networks, facilitating real-time monitoring and accurate data collection. By combining precise positioning with real-time data collection, GeoNetSee provides more reliable and up-to-the-minute information, improving decision-making for geodetic risk management.
(EN), Study of flood-prone areas in Serbia, SoFPAS, An EU funded project, Developing a system for Laser Scanning of terrain by using the LIDAR method and geodetic data collection on river basins in Serbia. Creation of maps of flood zones. GIS visualization and interpretation of geospatial data. The surveying of riverbeds was realized using the bathymetry method. A bathymetric map is an accurate, measurable description and visual presentation of underwater terrain. It is equivalent to a topographical plan above the surface of the water. Bathymetry is the basis for hydrography, which deals with measurements of the physical characteristics of a body of water. Hydrography includes not only bathymetry but also the shape and properties of the coastline, tidal properties, waves, etc. as well as the physical and chemical properties of the water itself. The surveying of the terrain in the vicinity of the water was realized by combined GNSS and LIDAR geodetic measurements. Based on a large number of spatial data, a high-quality Digital Terrain Model (DTM) was created, which was a prerequisite for the application of effective hydrological modelling. (EN) | GeoNetSee project will benefit from the knowledge in the development of the spatial data collection system and the visualization of geospatial data for the needs of monitoring landslides in real-time. Laser scanning data and bathymetric surveys were realized in real-time. Although it is not about the same type of data that will be used in the GeoNetSee project, the experience of implementing the mentioned project can significantly contribute to the systematization of the processing and interpretation of a large amount of data, which will be used in the process of monitoring the state of landslides and dams through the GeoNetSee project. GeoNetSee applies expertise in spatial data collection and visualization to monitor landslides in real time, introducing efficient data processing and interpretation methods for better response and decision-making. The systematic processing of extensive data in real-time enhances the project's ability to monitor the state of landslides and dams, contributing to the safety and resilience of the Danube Region. (EN), Tisza River Modelling on the common interest section of Hungary and Serbia and developing of the measuring equipment-TRMODELL, IPA European Union project HU-SRB/0901/121/0. The project included integrated hydrographic and geodetic measurements of the Tisza River bed. Based on the generated data, hydraulic modelling was performed in specialized software from the field of hydraulic engineering. The research included the international cooperation of experts from Serbia and Hungary. The survey of the terrain around the Tisza River was performed with an integrated system (LIDAR+GNSS + inertial navigation system), while the Tissa River bed was measured using the bathymetry method (GNSS + echo-sonar).
(EN) | The experience gained on this project can provide certain benefits in the process of managing a large amount of data within the GeNetSee project. Based on the acquired experience in processing a large amount of data using integrated surveying systems, will contribute to increasing the efficiency of data processing and interpretation that will be generated through the GeoNetSee project. Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

EUStrategyDanubeRegion The project is closely related to the EUSDR PA5 which addresses the challenges of water scarcity and droughts in line with the Danube River Basin Management Plan and the ongoing work in the field of climate adaptation. One of the most common causes of landslides is underground waters that are interconnected and are part of neighbouring countries. Deformations on large structures, such as bridges and hydroelectric dams, affect the safety of travel for all people, and on the other hand, the energy network represents a unique system of countries in the region. The development of a GeoNetSee monitoring system requires joint planning and coordinated execution so that all actors receive timely information and joint action. The creation of the Danube Collaborative Center (DCC) and the adoption of the strategy by the key actors will ensure sustainability and collaborative management by defining procedures for a faster response to those dangers. EUSDR PA5 also supports the assessment of disaster risks in the Danube Region, encouraging actions to promote disaster resilience, preparedness and response activities. Through the development of the GeoNetSee system, prevention and the readiness of the organizations to take action will be strengthened. The project is also closely related to EUSDR PA8 and PA10. In particular, the PA 10 addresses institutional capacity-building at local, regional and national levels, involvement of civil society in public governance, increasing local development and better spending as well as increasing absorption rates of EU funds. GeoNetSee will create a unified solution of geosensor networks that collect data in real-time in 3 pilot countries. All SMEs in the project are companies whose activities are focused on innovation and strive to exchange knowledge with the academic and broader community. GeoNetSee is also closely related to EUSDR PA1B which addresses the challenges of transport.
EuropeanGreenDeal The project is in line with the adoption of an ambitious EU strategy for adaptation to climate and other environmental changes. GeoNetSee addresses challenges related to climate and other geologically conditioned terrain instability, their impact on artificial (human-made) structures and consequently population well-being. It positively contributes to the health of citizens and increases the resilience of the ecosystem as a whole. Important is its positive effect on strengthening efforts on climate-proofing, resilience building, prevention and preparedness. GeoNetSee is a new, sustainable, partially disruptive technology solution which includes a geosensors’ network and a platform for collecting, visualizing and processing data about unstable terrain and artificial structures. The project’s solution is in line with the Green Deal strategy of placing accessible and interoperable data in the heart of data-driven innovation tackling environmental challenges. Besides using an extensive network of geosensors and real-time data it uses also state-of-the-art technologies like cloud computing etc, which is also in line with the Green Deal strategy to place accessible and interoperable data at the heart of data-driven innovation.
Green Deal also emphasises the importance of providing support to the EU's immediate neighbours for different challenges appearing from unstable terrain. Mitigation measures as the most important project’s result can only be effective when geosensors data from a broader area of the Danube region are acquired. Therefore the project's consortium consists of EU partners as well as partners from neighbouring countries of West Balkan (the project coordinator). GeoNetSee provides data to develop adequate instruments to integrate climate and other environmental changes into regional risk management practices and policies.
TerritorialAgenda2030 GeoNetSee project addresses multiple topics from Territorial Agenda 2030, mentioned in Preamble and in chapters Sustainable development and climate change, Integration beyond borders and Healthy environment. It provides an action-oriented framework to promote territorial cohesion in Europe.
Application solutions will provide mitigation measures for terrain unbalances and artificial structures problems. In order to be successful they require to address the broader Danube region as a whole. Furthermore, this will promote balanced and harmonious territorial development between and within countries, and regions. It also reinforces solidarity and accelerates the development of regions lagging behind. GeoNetSee solution provides data for strategic spatial planning and calls for strengthening the territorial dimension of sector policies at all governance levels. Coordinated territorial, social and economic cohesion will be encouraged and territorial development and strategic spatial planning will be improved. Regions with common potential and challenges can collaborate in finding common solutions to a project’s results. Data analysis provided by geosensors will improve the quality of local, regional, national and European development. Continuous capacity building based on the project’s results at all levels will enhance the participatory implementation of the strategies. Potential for citizens’ well-being and quality of life will be increased, because unstable terrain resilient and high-quality infrastructure will be built. GeoNetSee will help to minimize as far as possible environmental degradation and tailor-made measures can be applied. As a consequence of our project foundation for more resilient towns, cities and regions will be built.
Other The GeoNetSee project will be in line with the European INSPIRE standards. In particular, the INSPIRE Directive aims to create a European Union spatial data infrastructure for the EU environmental policies and policies or activities which may have an impact on the environment. This European Spatial Data Infrastructure enables the sharing of environmental spatial information among public sector organisations, facilitates public access to spatial information across Europe and assists in policy-making across boundaries. INSPIRE is based on the infrastructures for spatial information established and operated by the Member States of the European Union. The Directive addresses 34 spatial data themes needed for environmental applications. The Directive came into force on 15 May 2007 and will be implemented in various stages, with full implementation required by 2021. GeoNetSee platform will support European INSPIRE standards and other relevant standards (Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), Sensor Web Enablement (SWE)) in the context of data format (information model) and service interfaces (service model), to ensure the interoperability of the solution. This is extremely important due to the inclusion, and subsequent connection, of countries with different levels of use of these technologies.
