Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

    • SeaBasinStrategyBlackSea The project significantly contributes to wider strategies and policies by addressing the priorities outlined in the Agenda. Specifically, the project aligns with the 2nd priority of raising awareness among public authorities and citizens about marine environmental issues and their impact on marine ecosystems. By an environmental and ocean literacy training program and an awareness-raising video, the project will increase ocean literacy among citizens and local public authorities. This directly supports the goal of raising awareness and understanding of marine environmental issues. The project also aligns with the 3rd priority of promoting "ocean literacy" as a key action area. The project's dissemination trainings and hite paper will contribute to the goal of fostering ocean-aware citizens and policy-makers committed to a clean, plastic-free, healthy, and productive Black Sea.
    • Other The project aligns with the Empower Citizens and Blue Workforce Pillar of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, specifically contributing to the main goal 2 of empowering ocean-engaged citizens in the Black Sea region. Through its activities, the project fosters ocean literacy (dissemination trainings), encourages policy-making for environmental sustainability (the white paper), and supports the vision of a clean, plastic-free, healthy, and productive Black Sea.
    • Other All three countries are signatories to the Convention on Wetlands. Along the coasts of these countries, there are significant Wetlands of International Importance listed in the Ramsar List. The mission of the Convention is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of all wetlands through local, national, and international cooperation, contributing to global sustainable development. The project activities will increase environmental and ocean literacy in the Black Sea Basin and develop policy recommendations for this purpose which will contribute to the protection of biodiversity inthe region including that of the wetlands.
