Description (EN):

The objective is Enhancing protection and preservation of the natural protected areas in the Bulgarian-Romanian cross-border region, through development of a pilot system for monitoring, prevention and reaction to water pollution, caused from shipping on the Danube river. The project meets the needs of the population and the partners of improvement of the control in the inland waterways of Romania and Bulgaria and will contribute to improved cooperation and joint solutions in nature protection. The activities of the project are: 1. Establishment of a pilot system for monitoring, prevention and reaction to water pollution 2. Tools for monitoring, prevention and reaction to water pollution 3. Development of a procedure for joint monitoring and response activities in case of water pollution The expected outputs of the project are: - Improved organization's cooperation across borders - Developed jointly and implemented Pilot action for monitoring, prevention and reaction to pollution - Implemented tools for mitigating pollution

Actual Achievements (EN):

Following the signing of the financing contract and the partnership agreement for the implementation of the GREEN FIT FOR DANUBE project (project code: ROBG00177) between the Romanian Naval Authority (RNA) and the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" (EAMA), Bulgaria, the project implementation has commenced in accordance with the approved schedule. The two entities have appointed their project team members, and information about the project has been published on the official websites of the institutions. On October 9, 2024, RNA successfully hosted the project's Kick-off Meeting in Constanța, Romania, with participants from both EAMA and RNA. The event included event management services and visibility materials, such as posters and roll-ups. EAMA and RNA had requested and later on received by the National Authority an advance payment for the implementation of the project, as per the provisions of the Co-financing contract. At the beginning of November 2024, RNA launched the procurement procedure for A1.2 – Design, construction, and delivery of pontoons and photovoltaic installations (WP1), and soon the procurement for A2.2 – GIS system upgrade and sensors will be launched. Also, In November 2024, EAMA started preparation for a public procurement with subject: “Delivery, installation, testing and putting into operation of a sensor floating technical facility (buoy) and upgrade of the Integrated Geographic Information System (GIS) and ensuring their integration” as part of Activity 2.3 “System upgrade and delivery of one sensor – EAMA”, WP2. The partnership between EAMA and RNA proves to be efficient, with close collaboration in the implementation of the GREEN FIT FOR DANUBE project.
